Seabe: Great start on the frame and related parts.

Eric: Color looks good. I'm always nervous after I get the paint because later I don't want to make a boo-boo like nick it during handling or accidentally have plastic glue or super glue on my dang hands and marr the finish. lol

Everybody: Folks this doesn't look like a whole lot of progress but rest assured that it's huge for me because of all the work involved but I feel pretty good about the outcome. I've still got to relocate the spring perches and use a different rear axle and suspension but I'll get to that a little later. Here's some progress pics of the wheel tub and center section mods...........

I also managed to clean up the header exit cut out holes on the sides of the engine/ transmission cutout area. Here's the results. Still have some sanding and filling to go on the wheel tubs but it's minimal.

I'm also still working on the clean up around the rear wheel opening on the body. It'll be a bit before I post any substantial progress. Right now it's all in the idea and development part of the build.

Hey all,

Sprayed the last coat on the 53 Ford tonight. It laid down pretty even. I will have to do some light sanding with fine grit paper to smooth it out before spraying the clear. For some reason it looks pebbled in the photo, but when you look at the car it doesn't. Flash maybe??

Frame and swing arms assembled and painted. Good fits all round thusfar!

I was very dubious of the suggested paint (TS30 - Silver Leaf) but think it came out okay. Some bit to be done in SGB and some added after the painting, so onwards with that!

Hi all,

FWIW, I use my One-Drive folder to post my photos now much faster and easier.

I finished prepping the 53 for paint and plan to spray it tomorrow afternoon.

also got the Windows mounted in the Camaro. I found a set of replacement axles on ebay and decided to go with the factory wheels. The body is so small on this kit the wheels I wanted to use are a tight fit.

Nope - I just went in there without issues - and my pics are linked to there. I did get "under maintenance" a couple of days ago, though. But fine since my last upload of the Jag pics.

I've got the R/H side graphed in. I still have to do some body work and trimming but it's in there. I've got it mocked up here with my spun aluminum Weld Draglites. I may have to order a 5 lug version with a deeper offset in the back for that deep dish effect.Although initially not trued up , I'll get it all ironed out in the body work process. I think I've got my color selection down too. I'll be going with GM paint code 79U- Mystic Teal Metallic -a.k.a. Chameleon. Yeah...............this look suits me a whole lot better!

This picture captures the Mystic Teal Metallic paint color change fairly well. The sides look green and the hood has a purple hue to it. Other areas will appear blue. I've always liked this color and can't wait to put it on this van.

Hey all. Yeah! Made it out to the shop today. hehehehe I was looking at what I have to finish and decided to pull out the 53 Ford and finish it up. About all I did today was take some 0000 steel wool to the paint to smooth out the spots where the old airbrush spit on it LOL. Hope to spay a last coat on it tomorrow or Friday and finish out the interior while it dries. Still trying to work out the front of the Camaro. About ready to heck with it and find a front and rear axle for it and just put the box stock wheels on it hehehehehe. Mustang, you can take the 37 Ford Custom off my list since I'm going to part it out. The 70 Monogram Road Runner is nooot on the list though. I'm planning to finish it after the 53. Thanks. Eric

Ok I ended up buying the J2000 kit for that wild azz 350 SBC in it for the build. 

I'm going to try something out here. I was also brain storming for a different look than the vehicle being "jacked up" in the back. I want more of a lowered looking Pro Street stance so I've got this spare '54 Chevy Panel Wagon body and decided to check something out. What if I cut the rear wheel opening out like so:

 

 

and then trimmed the bottom up so that it evened out at the body line on both sides of the wheel opening. I think I might be able to flatten this out a bit to get away from the body curvature and graph this in because l like the way this is lookin' so far.

I think I see what you're saying about the engine cover. That second one doesn't seem to show what you're talking about that much so do you want to go #2?

That bike is going to be really cool to watch and I'm looking forward to that since I don't see many bikes being built. Go for it!

Hey Mustang, I am so PO'ed about that engin lid that... yeah, I actually keep seeing that and missing the rest! Not sure - maybe the second last one - or the last one, since it doesn't have that cover in shot... but then it doesn't show the entire car.

Anyways, definitely up for a next round. And it will be something completely different! I am between two Honda's, 30 years apart in age! And they're two-wheelers - did we have that yet in one of the builds?

There's the 2014 Marc Marquez RC213V... and the 1984 Freddie Spencer NSR500 - towards which I am leaning. Both record-breaking years for different reasons. The "Baby Champ" (Marquez) one I HAD to get. The Fast Freddy one I saw the other day when I was in the hobby shop and just - never even thought about not getting it. And it's not often I get to build something I've just purchased recently - so this may be the one. Truckloads of masking on both... but some of the more complex templates seems to be included. But definitely leaning to the 84 Fast Freddy NSR500... 

 

Attempting to attach a pic of the real thing - admittedly this looks like a FOS version of it, but still...

So, Jaguar done, pics below... Apologies upfront - that engin cover just kept popping up and I don't want to glue it shut. So it looks messy - I am not happy with that. On the pics some flaws showed up in the latter pics and I altered the weathering a tiny bit subsequently.

Seabe: Thanks for the kudos and man that Jag is looking great man! Love the detail and the decal work. That blue coat of paint is looking good on that Ligier as well.

Pawel: That paint turned out out-freekin-standing. Nice turn around after all your trouble  in the beginning with the scratches.

Everybody: I cut the roof to the desired length. Here's the two bodies side by side to show the length added and the difference:

Seabe - No problem - I understand! Thanks for your kind words. Once I've lost a resin sprocket for my 1:72 M110 SP hoitzer. I looked EVERYWHERE, had to scratchbuild it in the end. I've found the sprocket about half a year later (after the rebuild) - I've lost of my concentration and put it inside the tip of Mr Mark Softer cap, in order not to lose it! And I've lost it...

Let's hope it won't happen too much in th futute...

Pawel, you really sorted those problems of yours - awesome gloss on that kombi!

But... I have to share this. HALF AN HOUR... and more. I searched. One piece of WM on the Ligier I simply could not find. I even looked in my study's bin, hoping that it was still in the plastic bag. I found the empty bag... EVERYWHERE on the table, under every nook and cranny, under table, you name it. I actually think it was more than half an hour of searching for that one PE piece. Only to really look hard at the instructin sheet again. And then wondering whether this might not be made up of a folded PE section. Lo and behold... Bang Head

Mustang - that is one mean looking engine! Go kill it!

The decals are done and started assembly. Starting to look like the car it's supposed to resemble. Hoping to put this one to bed shortly. Final assembly and... some fun to come!

 

Very little progress on the 43rd Ligier. Initial body assembly and I picked a blue which I think is close enough to resemble the correct blue.

Everybody: Ok. That extra long rectangular opening in the floor is gonna mandate an engine that'll fill it. Don't think I haven't "been there" in thought. I'll be using Rick Dobbertin's blown, turbo'd and nitrous fed small block 350 for this using the Revell Pro Street J2000 kit:

Looking really good there, Pawel! Glad you could sort the problem.

I am struggling through what seems like a very straight-forward decal job. Except for the fact that the decals - even the kit supplied ones! - at times run over multiple body parts. The one time I try the decaling before assembly. Tongue Tied I'm doing that for a good reason, but now it seems like a pain in the ehhhrrr... lower back.

Hello Joe!

Thanks for the tip, but I think I have made some progress. I have sprayed three light coats of Motip spray FILLER on the roof with drying, sanding and again some drying between the coats and the result is like on the photo below:

 

So thanks for all the ideas and I will start trying them out when this thing goes bad again - that is if the surface imperfections come up again.

I have also found like three other minor spots on the body that are getting the spray filler treatment right now.

During the time when paint was drying I started finishing the wheels. I painted the BMW rims with Alclad 2 prismatic paint. I also sanded out the seams on the slick tyres. I also painted the disc brakes with Gunze Stainless paint and painted the calipers red:

 

Now let's see how the further painting of the body goes - thanks for lookin' and I hope you liked it. Best greetings and have a nice day

Thanks and to strip 'er down to bare plastic just get some brake fluid from the auto parts store and dunk it in a container full of that. It'll strip it down to the bare plastic without harming it and it cleans up with soap and water.

Don't worry, I'm hangin' on! I'll try a couple more thin layers of  spray filler and it that doesn't show any promise I'll sand the roof down to bare plastic and I'll try starting over.

Good to see you converting your bus. Some time ago I've seen a show car collection at a shopping mall and they also had a VW bus with the center section cut out and the van painted as "The Mystery Machine" from Scooby Doo - I mean those cut down Beetle Busses relly existed!

Ken: Will be wishing you a speedy and the very best in a full recovery. It was great to have you in here anyways but I'm really glad to have you in here with us doing what we all do best. Yes

Pawel: Man I've been there with this one. Something aint right here with the base finish. If you have a smooth finish on the plastic before the primer then it should stay smooth. I sand until I've got a shiny/ almost gloss finish on the plastic before the primer. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I would take it all back down to bare plastic and start over with the sanding process again. Unless somebody knows something I don't of if I'm totally missing something that's the only way I see through this. Hang in there with it in any case.

Everybody: I started on the chassis and here's what we had to work with OOB:

Again, clean up will happen soon but I've gotta make sure this all works before any cosmetic work gets done. I did, however, get rid of those bumps for foot pedals. I think I can come up with something better than that. Wink
