Dan - The thing is looking great and you are doing some amazing work!  Inspiring me to build one!!!  

I finally decided on a color, which is going to be a pearl white roof and the rest of the truck will be metallic teal.  I got the motor pieces painted and assembled and painted the chassis and suspension.  Tomorrow I will start the motor wiring, distributor wiring, water line plumbing and some of the other details.  This one will have an electric fan since I couldn't get the NASCAR radiator and fan shroud to match up. The engine and bell housing are painted to match the body.

Dan - I'll be adding lots of detail to the engine this week.  I'm trying a hybrid of what a 1984 NASCAR engine would look like in a street truck.  Should be fun!

Well folks it's definitely update time. I'll post the major update pic first that has green callout lines. I didn't label the lines but I'll start with the lines starting at the front of the frame and work towards the rear.

Here we go:

For line #1 at the radiator core support area I cut out the large area so that my belt, pulleys and fan would have a place to sit in place.

 At line #2 I cut out the transmission cross member and relocated the cross member to the 4 speed transmission mount location.

 At the 3rd line I relocated the rear leaf spring front perch on top of the frame  and the 4th line is where I relocated the rear spring perch on top of the frame.

 The transmission sits in like so:

 I've still gotta install fabricated motor mounts from the frame to the engine but this is where that's gonna sit: (this body is ONLY used as part of the test fitting)

A little crooked but I'll straighten that out:

 The biggest worry I have right now is the exhaust but I'll get past it.

Hidey Ho All!

Man, you guys have been busy since I was last on. Work and home stuff has kept me busy but I got to do a little yesterday and today. I'll have to go back later this week and see all the nifty stuff that's been going on.

I started on the 53 Ford as I put the others on hold until I finish it. If it come out good enough I plan to enter it in the Cookeville show. I'm bulding it box stock. I've never done one so thought I'd give it try. I'll be piddlin' with the Impala off and on also. :)

Got the engine put together and ready to paint. Primed it today. from everything I've read, the engine was painted Tangerine, so Tangerine it is.

Got a lot of the body work done. Also filled in one of the spotlight holes. I think two is a bit much. :) went through and filled or sanded out all the mold lines and pin marks. This kit is actually a very clean kit. Almost no flash. So far parts cleaning has been a breeze. Also got the white base coat/primer sprayed on. The colors re Ivory and Flamingo Red. Also sprayed the Ivory on the interior. After a few days of drying, I'll spray the other color. All the chrome is stripped so I'll start on that later this week.

Okay, took some more pics of the Jordan and also one of the P34 engine. Here goes...

First off, the current state of the P34's engine with still some work to come.

Then, two more Jordan pics.

Firstly, the size comparison - I took a normal (non-financial - I'm not THAT stoopid!) card - that will be pretty much standarised. Comparing it to out money won't help much, as very few will actually know the size of SA currency! 

Next, a shot on a bit of diorama turn... unfortunately I belatedly realised that I did not get in well enough for the shot and caught some background as well. *d'oh*

Last but now least... I started another 43rd. But this will be a bit of a mission. One of the very first to be made by Tameo. Quite rough casting and I already spent some time cleaning up just the body and floor. But it's one of the idillic cars for me - the Lotus 97T, Portugal. For non-F1 guys, it's Senna's first win, in POURING rain in Portugal, 1985.
I think he lapped everybody but the guy that came second - and that wasn't that far off as well! Anyways, this shot shows the join, with craters for gaps. It will be interesting project and I will surely do something else in between to just keep me motivated. (Note the what looks like handwritten inscriptions on the floor - really cool, I think!) Kit #TMK020, just to show how early in their lifespan this was. A totally different beast from the superbly cast TMK418 I just received - by sheer coincidence, Schumacher's first win for Ferrari, in POURING rain in Spain!

Slowly but surely, making some progress here and there.  The motor and suspension are complete.  Now I can concentrate on getting the exterior and interior prepped for paint.  If everything goes as planned, I hope to shoot some color on the body and interior Friday night.

That huge breather hides the fuel line and fuel filter, but it was always a signature piece to me in all NASCAR's.

Suspension is complete as well.  It's nice to have a build that has actual spring and suspension movement.

Double checking the deck height and firewall clearance.  The only thing I have to do is level out the motor a little bit, but that should be easy.  Once some color is on it, hopefully it will bring a little more of the detail out, instead of being washed out.

It's awesome to still see you guys banging out this amazing work here!  Incredible stuff! 

Joe, I am going to call my dragster done.  Been experiencing a few delays in getting my order for the AM spokes.  Either the first or the third pic on page 49 would be a good one I think for the completed builds post on page one.  I'll let you fellas decide.

I've moved on to the 109 GB for the time being, but I did snag another 1/16 dragster off of eBay.  It's the Revell Don Garlits rear-engine dragster he drove in '75, so I'll be adding that one to my build list here if it's cool with you.

A slow start on my BMW. The USS Indianapolis is taking most of my time. I do have the body painted. Several coats of red with some wet sanding in between.
Now, would you guys suggest I buff the paint out with for a more shinny appearance? If so, with what?

taaron-  thats a great custom build. everything looks like it was made to be that way.

Amazing work everyone.  Good to see more F1s on the way Seabe. WIll you leave the inscription there, or fill it ? The reason I ask is that I am going to do one, and don't know what the convention is. The Jordan is a favourite of mine, I think I need one too.

Tim - you are amazing, and very quick.

Eric - I can't believe you're building a Ford. I thought it was a typo until I saw the photo.

Steve - The paint work on your Bimmer looks nice and smooth.

Mike - I thought of doing a dragster myself, but yours is too good :)

Jay - I like the look of your Hustin Hemi. The engine bay caught my eye as being realistic, but I really like the whole thing. I've been trying to stay away from racing cars that I know nothing about , dammit.

Anyways, I've finished all of the parts cleanup for my Williams, so pretty soon I might have something to photograph.

Hey Tony, I really like it - I will leave it as it is. Well, painted, of course! I actually tend to even leave the machined engravings as well.

I actually have a growing family of Jordans, all 43rd. Completed are the J197 (pictured), the J198 (Hornet), EJ11 (shark) and I went a bit bonkers with a weathered "post-race" 194, one of the SASOL (obviously had to do one of them!) cars. Being a sucker for punishment, I also have one of Tameo's earliest "silverline" releases (SLK006!) - the EJ13 - Jordan's only win with Fissi in Brazil. I short one of the "golden" era... the 196... hmmm...

I think they really spiced up the environment at that stage and don't know of many people who do not have a soft spot for them.

Still don't know what I'm planning to do with the Lotus 97T. Will need something to maintain sanity! Spent some more time cleaning front and rear wings tonight. Well, just filing, thinning and getting rid of mold lines and excess - cleaning on a whole has not even commenced. Very simplified build, but I do think it will be a MISSION to get it to look like anything. Don't hold your breath...  

Fantastic Seabe, thanks, I will too. You knew I was going to ask this right ? How about a line up of all your Jordans ?

Tim: Man you're gonna rock this build I can tell you that!! I like all the planning and forethought are going into this kit.

Steve: That paint coverage looks great from my angle. I have the same problems out of my photo shots. My Challenger comes across in photos as almost pink in color. I usually have to jack with the post picture mods to get near the right shade In photos.

Tony: We're all here to help further the race car education (particularly Mopar stuff) if you want to give one a go.   Primed 50 parts.................sheesh!!

i am envious, not just of the talent on show here, but also the speed at which you manage to work at. Mine is turning out to be much more work than i expected. Not because of the upgrades but because of all the decaling. its my own fault i suppose for wanting to do it all, but it is a bit wearing. and there is still more decaling to do 

just a  quick pic to prove im still going.

the whole untertray is CF, top and bottom, except where the aluminium foil is and where the front will sit. it all still needs final clearcoating.

MIsty, that's some impressive stuff!  Glad you kept at it!

Hey Misty, good to see a DC build of that car. My first build of that was as well, gave it to a friend for his boy at a stage, still have two of those kits - one the Japanese version and will end as a Mika build and another black box one will turn into a Jaguar.

Tony, as I was typing it, I was thinking the same. Some are quite old and build when I was very raw at 43rd, so they do not look good, but I will take a shot. Won't be before the weekend!

Holy hell you guys are doing some awesome work!  I haven't been on the site or at the bench in a bit but I get the daily email updates and man are you guys just killing it.  Waaay too behind to go commenting on each at this point but I'll just say very inspiring stuff.  Well done.

I picked up a 2011 SS Camaro kit over the weekend and spent my only free night just hammering away at it, I wasn't even going to paint it-just do it as a distraction from everything else but it actually turned out pretty good.  It went together like nothing.  I don't have any pics but I'll try to get some up later. It's nothing special but I couldn't pass it up for what I had intended and it was like 15 bucks.  

No new progress on the 66 Impala ..yet :)  Keep up the good work fellas!
