Eric nice progress on your engine.
Eric: The one side that you have knocked out looks great! Nice start on that engine.
Dan: This is just looking great. I was going to ask about the sixth ramp and remembered you still have two to go after that!!!!!!!!!

Nice updates boys. Lookin' good.
Mopar -that thing is just incredible. It beats the pants off a dio any day, excellent way to display your builds.
Mustang -that washer fluid jug looks great, I'm interested to see how you do the half full blue fluid look.
Eric -thanks but I noticed you stripping the chrome -that has me nervous. lol I'm gonna have to elevate my game some. I did snag some pretty cragar wheels and poly tires from another kit I'm going to use. Watch the front suspension, the 'axle' part doesn't seem to line up the wheels in the wheel weels nice. I had to pull mine all apart adn try to figure out how to straighten it. It looks like the molded on lower a arms ar longer on one side than the other and put the left wheel forward with the right wheel back slightly. It wasn't obvious until I mocked up the tires to see how they sit that I noticed it. Hopefully your kit will be ok or you can over come this before paint and glue.
So many updates I'm glad I checked in. :)

The way I pulled this off was I started with a reservoir that was molded in white. You can also paint one white if the one you are working with is a different color. Then you mask off the container at the halfway up mark and mix up some bright blue or if you have some in stock then paint the unmasked half the blue color. Lastly, using a 50/50 mix of flat and gloss clear (I have no semi gloss clear) and a drop or two of white (this will give the illusion of fluid inside the bottle after applied) airbrush the mixture in a thin coat onto the reservoir.
I unfortunately never started that Mustang funny car. I'm having trouble starting back into the autos.
I Have one of those Revell 68 Mustang GTs (1/25) with the Cobra Jet in it that I've been wanting to build into my 68 GT with a 390 engine. Maybe with the personal involvement I can be pushed over the edge.
On Ed's bench, ???

The door is open wide for you pal........
Gordy thanks I have the Revell and AMT car haulers and this one will go with them. The AMT is my 62 model year and the Revell I'm going to change over from the 68's to 67's. With the 3 trucks they will have a grand total of 20 cars. It comes in handy for freeing up shelf space.
68GT just start digging into your build and show us some progress pictures.
I want to let everyone know that I've been posting a lot of progress on my truck the last couple days here but it's not current progress I'm just catching up to where I'm at with the build today. I'm getting to where I'm currently at today. The next thing that I worked on was the new hitch connection on the trailer and the hitch on the back of the truck. I was concerned about the weight on both of these connections as they look very weak. For the trailer I used a flat piece of plastic that goes about 3" back on the trailer and then added the tubing on th egos side of it and after the glue dryed it seams strong. For the truck hitch I ran some wire inside the tubing to add the strength to carry the trailer weight. Here's the progress pictures.
I used the fifth wheel from the Frightliner and first I cut cut it down in size to about 2/3's. I also built the rear mud flaps using some checker plate. I added some ladders and a little walk way on the upper section of the truck. I'm planning to get some more painting done this week end as the sun is suppost to come out.
I added some supports for the ramps on the back of the truck and painted the wheels.
I still think those painted wheels rock Dan!!
Joe, I used the silver lead pencel that you help me out on.
She's commin' together magnificently Mopar

On the Bench: Nothing on the go ATM
Thanks Mopar-D. I'm still amazed with your project.
Gord,
I took a look at my Chassis and it is wonky. I think I figured out the issue. The cut out for the axle assembly is deeper on the left side by about .022. By the time it gets out to the wheel I can see it is very noticeable. When I get ready to install that part, I'll square it up and then fill in where I had to make adjustments. Thanks for the heads-up.
L8TR,
Eric
Looking goood! Tell me more about that silver lead pencil, though...
Great catch there Eric!!!
Ok for todays update we switch to the master cylinder. I cut a section of copper wire from that fuel pump relay that I had laying around and bent it in the form of a master cylinder cap retainer. May have to do some more tweaking and then paint it but here it is so far:
after that I'll move on to the brake lines and brake booster check valve and vacuum hose to the engine.
Thanks Joe, Eric and Seabe.
Seabe - Joe gets the credit he was the one that provided me with the information on the silver pencel. It's Prismacolor - Silver Argent # PC949 and Hobby Lobby carries them.
joe the master cylinder is going to look very cool
Ok now I'm caught up with my current progress. It was a good morning for painting. Sprayed the cab white and cleaned off BMF Dodge letters afterwards before the paint was to hard. Also painted the front bumper chrome and the rear mud flap with misc parts red.
I will have some more progress to report later tonight. I'm reworking the ladders on the truck to match the ones on the trailer. Also looking at the trailer I noticed that the main joints on the frame has gusset plates so I'm going to add them to the new joints that I added.
Yea Eric that's exactly it. I had to nip off the little frame alignment tabs and there were 2 pins under the oil pan cross section area. I had to nip those off as well and skew it a bit as I already had it all assembled. It appears straighter now. lol
Mustang -thanks for the jug tips. The Impala jug is a clear part so I guess start by painting it white. I'm gonna try my had at adding that detail to the master as well. Nice stuff.
Mopar -Those wheels look good. Great progress.
I guess I should do a from the start post to catch up as well. Too busy today, next time. :) Great updates guys. Nothing from me.
Gord
The truck itself is gonna be a master piece Dan and then you add in the transport half of it.....WOW!
Well this morning I got up and continued onwards with the master cylinder reservoir cap retainer. I was just about to paint it and it flew out of my forceps in the the "wild brown yonder" otherwise known as my dang carpet. So I had to start all over with it and make another one but this time I didn't loose it!! I got that painted and installed and turned my attention to the brake booster check valve. I had drilled a hole in the booster yesterday in preparation for its installation........but yesterday I had no clue what I was going to use for the valve! Well after some much needed rest I figured it all out this morning. I cut the head of a bobby pin off and painted it black and then inserted that into the booster. I left just enough room between the head of the pin and the booster to insert a hose neatly underneath it to run to the engine. Here's the pin:
I still have to put some gloss on the valve to replicate a shiny black plastic but here's the results of the valve and the cap retainer:
Brake lines are next..............
Joe the master brake cylinder is going to look. Good on the firewall.
Gord thanks.
Later today I'm going to be reworking the ladders on the truck and add some gusset plates on the trailer.
Thanks Dan! I'll be looking forward to the updates man!
That looks great Mustang. I'm going to try to duplicate that later tonight.
Joe now that you have the washer bottle in place are you going to run the hose to the nozzles ?
Hi Mustang1989, I'd like to get in on this build with a 67 Malco Gasser, hope it's not too late.
Ken
Thanks for the vote of confidence Gordy!
I've already got ideas on the hose there Dan! (the hole is already drilled in the washer reservoir for the hose!) lol lol ....I thought you'd never ask. lol!!!!!
Ken: Jump right on in here buddy! Welcome aboard!
Thanks for all the encouragement here
Was able to get a little time on the bench tonight. Built the ladder on the passenger side and started adding the gussets on the trailer.
Lookin' good so far Dan! How many hours do you think you have tied up so far in this build? Looks to be ALOT!!
With the polite advice of a couple of good folks I decided to revamp the overall master cylinder/brake booster appearance. Still need to work on the weathering and minor details but here's the latest:
Update: What the hell. I had a couple of extra minutes so I painted the retainer and made the reservoir look more like an iron color than a bright silver by weathering just a tad.
Joe that looks 100% better with the added colors.
Joe I have not been counting but so far maybe 200 hours building and and about 100 hours researching over the last couple years.
kenjitak Hi Mustang1989, I'd like to get in on this build with a 67 Malco Gasser, hope it's not too late.
Oh that is such a cool car, I've always wanted to build that kit. Glad you joined, looking forward to those updates.
Mustang - I assumed you were going to paint it still but it looks even better now. And the hose going into the bottle? I don't know what to say to that-I'm looking forward to seeing it. lol
