This is what I've gotten accomplished thus far for the Hind-E...  a small box of easily assembled stuff that I'll need later and some scratch-built avionics racks.

these racks, or more accurately shelves, are not too realistic but they fill an empty space between the cockpit and cargo bay.   I'll need to make some transformer bricks, electronics and a bit of wiring to fill these up.   Luckily, all of this will be buried within the fuselage and hard to see, so all I need to do is make the appearance of these things as opposed to fully realized and detailed parts.

Once I get this sorted out I'll begin to detail the cargo bay, which will be much more involved and realistic (I hope).

Here is my Mig's bang seat. I raided the sparesbox for PE backles and added tamiya tape straps.

Some light scuffing in the areas where the driver would sit on his chute back and food rests.

Sorry for poor Cell pic

Those brass guns look stacks better than the kit ones!

I have started assembling my MiG's office, as per usual there are allot of bits that need to be made into sub-assemblies first.

The detail however is quite nice :-)

here is a pic of a brakeman filling a journal box;

they were filled all the time, so there would be dirty oil running from the bottom of the cover. hope this helps.

Ha, ha, I worked for the railway (seems like a lifetime ago, now) and I never knew those 'flaps' were called journal boxes. I remember the conductors/brakemen walking down the line of cars with a hooked rod raising the flap to check the bolts underneath.

got it. thanks. looks like some of the oil gets on the wheels too. i will add that today. Good on you for also posting in the armor section. I think it's important more of us post in our GB and in the other appropriate forum so we get more feedback.

PJ, that tank is looking mighty awesome and mean. I definitely am enjoying your work there. And yes, there are folks who care about armor in this GB here. I'm one of them.

Thanks stikpusher,

will be doing some "super detailing" tonight, and will post pics of my progress.

There are some pretty obvious details missing.

D**m fine work there Waynec!!!

Needs oil stains on the journal boxes thoughWhistling

PJ, MC, RobS thanks.

stains are easy enough to do. what are the journal boxes? NEVER MIND. looked them up. on my car it's the slanted rectangular box where the axle attaches to the frame. how stained would they be assuming a wartime situation?

this is my RR practice piece before starting the K-5. depending on the photo i use, this could sit behind the gun offloading ammo,i  still need to lay track but base and ties are stained, rails are primed and  rusted with steel tops.

painted with vallejo Air German gray. after adding decals i gave the wood a second raw umber wash and then added vertical streaks with gray pastels. the 2 wide lighter streaks on the deck represent where light armored vehicles would sit.

Rob-all I can say is absolutely beautiful work.  From my point of view and my abilities, I'm glad the flying thingies and floaty thingies made out of wood, while beautiful to behold,  the materials have changed to alumn.

Thanks waynec,

the outboard track units were detachable for transport.

As for the cast texture, I used a stiff brush and M.E.K. to stipple the softened surface.

It's actually real easy and flexible.  You can do as little or as much as you like.

I don't think that is as much a painting as it is a really messed up old photo, but it does show the rough texture of the casting well.

thanks again.

i like armor. so the inner tracks build like a normal tank and the outer tracks attach over them? what did you use for casting?

tht painting is Ft. Knox, i think the big Maintenance traininng building in the background but it has been a few years.
