Those are a fine line due to their limited AT abilities, however since they are technically considered light assault guns, either one should fit. I'm not an artillery man but I guess most artillery pieces would have limited AT capabilities if push came to shove.

Should I put you down for one or both?

Well, the B-4 howitzer is painted. I wish I knew how to take decent photos though...

I did a bit more reading on the ASU-57 and its successor, ASU-85 "assault guns". Seems their primary function was AT>>Arty. I think that may not fit the "spirit" of the GB. I do have a Soviet IT-1 Missile Tank in my stash (1:35 Trumpeter). I think I will chose that one; we recently moved and I have yet to set up my workshop and need to re-start my modelling with easy builds to get my *** back. Maybe down the road I can also build a proper stand-alone arty piece.

Gamera - Looking good! And ditto on the pictures! One of my goals setting up my new workspace is to figure out and setup a way to take proper pics without too much fuss.

What an interesting idea. I did a little reading on that unit. I say "a little" as I could only fins a little. However, while that would be a unique build, aren't the missiles which it carried meant for anti tank purposes?

To the Artillery GB members,

I will be moving  out of my house on Wednesday, and moving into the new one on Friday. I will be very busy for several days, so I apologize in advance for any inattentiveness to the GB. It would only be because I did not get to my computer or I'm so pooped that I couldn't. I will be watching via my phone, so if anyone completes a build I'll be sure to make the time to post it. I should be back in the saddle next week.

As promised, here are some pictures of the WIP on the Tomahawk.

Here are several pictures of the pieces as they came from the box. Like any resin kit, the parts had to be removed and cleaned. The parts were molded very well. And a very low part count. This is my first all resin kit, and it was a great one to start with.

So, i cut a very small piece of Styrene and attempted to fix. Turned out ok. I apologize, one of the pictures is fuzzy.

These are pictures of the model complete with wings and rear stabilizers. There is a booster to put on, that will wait until after it has been painted.

This last picture is to give the model some scale. It's pictured with a die-cast 1/48 scale '69 Pontiac Firebird.

A couple photos of the superstructures. A mistake in the booklet almost cost me to install the sides backwards, but I found that a side brace with slats must face outwards so I added a closeup.

I think i'm close to adding my base coat on the cars and im waiting on all the smaller parts till final assembly.

Terry, That's looking great as usual.

We have finally moved into our new home and are getting settled in. The boxes are scattered around so it will take a little while to get things sorted out.

I put the tracks on the b-4 over the weekend after finishing the pin wash to the detail, I think I may have missed a few of the zillion or so rivets all over the thing. Now I need to decide on how much rust and where...

Sorry, I didn't mean for this to get away. A Tomahawk is such an interesting entry, I'm excited to see it in its warpaint. I had no idea they were so large.

The superstructure is ready for paint. I needed a little cleanup on the brackets, and I also assembled the four articulating winches that'll be installed later. Finally, its nice to see a few stripped sprue's after starting with 1200 parts but the cars are ready for assembly and paint.

Well, Like Steve, I'm moving and I have my modeling supplies packed. But, to my surprise, I did not realize just how many models I have purchased. I knew I had many, but, I, think I crossed over into ridiculous. lol 

Bruce sorry I didn't update my entry but it is in 1/35. I have some issue with my hands and the 1/72 stuff is just to small right now so I went for the Trumpeter kit. I think its about 33 inches overall.

Guys thanks, I haven't followed along very much this past month and I really need to catch up on your builds. I'll assemble the carriages tomorrow and start spraying some German Grey.

It might help if I was a little more on the ball here. I got the front page updated. Sorry July was a nightmare of distractions.

I am pretty much back now. We will have home internet probably Friday or Monday and I'm PLANNING on working on the hobby room this weekend, if it's OK with the boss.

Steve I've been confused all summer, we'll keep on plugging away and see what we end up with.

Bruce the Tomahawk is really cool, didn't know they made one. I agree with Gamera, nice to see some different builds.

Guys a quick update. I've painted and assembled the carriages minus all the finicky parts that I'll save for final assembly. Everything has fit nicely and the rail wheels all set evenly on the ground. I did start some detail painting on the undercarriage parts, springs wheels, etc but that too will be completed later when I do the final painting with some modulation and weathering. A few more things and i'm onto the main gun.

Oh man, that thing is really looking like something.

Terry  the rust on the wheels turned out nicely. are you going to keep the RR part gray and tghe mortar camoed? also don't forget to really oily black muck up the journal boxes. i was reminded of that with my gondola. they are always oozing grease and everything get stuck around them. how big is that thing?

Wayne thanks, I haven't forgotton those boxes after you mentioned it last build. I painted the hubs and journals a gloss black and then a coating of Chipping Fluid, then the grey top coat. I'm going to try removing a little grey material to show the shiny black to see how that looks then add a mixture I made up of black soot pigment mixed with some thick oil base. I tried that on some spare parts and it sure looks like a glob of grease/oil mix, I'm also going to use it sparingly on some other parts like the "O" ring on the floor of the carriage the 4 wheels ride on to pivot the superstructure mount etc. 

Sorry Wayne, the overall length of both carriages overall is about 27 inches (13.5 each) and the build will be at about 35/36 inches or so. That reminds me I need to start some track pretty soon.

Wayne for a detective I sure miss a lot of things lately, but I'm going to paint everything German Grey but I plan on keeping the gun pretty clean while the carriages a bit dirtier and I'm going to modulate the paint a little. I've seen photos of these guns is pristine condition and "field rough" so I think i'll go for something in between. I would think with such large support personnel, they would keep these expensive pieces clean and operational.
