There's always Round Two!

On the bench:
A lot !! And I mean A LOT!!
2024 Kits on deck / in process / completed
14 / 5 / 2
Bob, what a cool coupe. Awesome sauce !!
Scot, ooph, that kinda kit scares me to death and you pulled it off. Nice work.
Caveman, I'm diggin on the Soviet theme. Love how that turned out. Nicely done mang!!
Tanks lewbud (see whatI did there? Ha, I kill me), pictures #1 will be fine.
Steve
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Well, I made it. Couldn't have timed that picture any better. I'm calling her done. Not a bad kit, but still swore a few times. I will post better pics. tomorrow when I have some natural light and the clearcoat hardens a bit. I'm too tired to try to set up a photo booth tonite.
Congrats to all that made it! Great work all around. Never thought I would see a ship in Weekend Madness! Till tomorrow.......
First off, let me congratulate modelcrazy, b_onefixer, BrandonK, Bobbaily, and scottrc for finishing on time. To those that are still building, keep at it. For those that didn't make the deadline, there is always next weekend. As for myself, I made it with seconds to spare. Cougar lost it and turned in his wings, the Panther made it though. I'll post pics tomorrow. To those who finished, tell me which pics you would like for the front page.
Just got back from my weekend away and seeing some fantastic work here! Way to go guys!

On the Bench: Nothing on the go ATM
Scott,
I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't watch it myself, great job . True guts there. Looks beautiful. One day, when I get older and nuts, I'm going to try a ship in 48 hours.
Bob
Well, I did it! Complete, a fully rigged ship in 48 hours with an hour to spare. I thought it was going to be easy since it looked like an easy kit. Low part count, two masts, lanteen rig, Easy Peasy. I was wrong. Nothing fit, soft plastic, non-existant instructions, my bumbling fingers and nearsightedness, and a darranged cat almost derailed this effort. But here it is, ready for any IMPS powder puff class or firecraker competition. 48 hours of a pure coffee diet and no shower has me kinda daffy. Now off to a hot shower, a hot meal, and Sunday Night Football.
Continued nice work all.
Brandon-fantastic job on the Yak.
Finished up on the 32 Coupe-good kit but a weekend build doesn't do it justice-a lot of potential with this kit.
The paint snafu keep me from weathering/rusting it as I had planned-however, it will become a good test bed for weathering/rusting practice.
As always, thank you Lewbud for organizing this GB-it's always a fun time and a great motivator. I am looking forward to everyone else's builds for this weekend and the weekends to come.
Well, 5 hours to go. Well out of paint and need to mark and put the final parts on. I think like last time, I'm gonna use all 48 hours.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Wow Brandon, such a clean job. I am in the middle of a bunch of strings going everywhere. The instructions are some sort of bad joke, and the plastic is so soft that siezing is next to impossible in such a short time frame and keep everything from looking like a bad hair day. So, I'm punting and doing a little artistic licensing, which is fine since the model really doesn't resemble the Nina, other than it is wood, has sails, and floats. And to top it off, my camera decided to start eating batteries and not focusing. Time to get that Nikon for Christmas.
B-one, you tossed that together in short order. Nice work, it looks really good.
Steve, you did a super job on that Sherman, and SOOO fast too. NICE !!
Okay, I am exactly 47 hours in and I am calling this one DONE !!! Total build time was 17.5 hours. I am smoked! That was just too much too fast. Building a 1/48 WWII bird from a decent kit in short order is a tall task. Those two 1/72 Yaks I did last year were far easier to get done in the alotted time. But, all in all, it came out pretty decent. I will get another one of these kits and do a black nose summer camo version.
About this one. Black 7 has no known photos that have been published but it is said one resides in a Russian museum. Based on the VVS research Mig-3 site I painted and weathered this kit from there. I think I went light on the weathering given so many of those winter camo Mig-3's were worn something fierce.
This kit (Trumpeter) came with rocket mounts and rockets but this particular bird is supposed to have gun pods, but this kit doesn't come with them. So, I used the rockets. It'll do. It is fairly well detailed overall and goes together quite well. I hope you enjoy the pics.
Some great work beging done here since I logged off last night. I love Pathers and we have two being built. Same with Spits, never can have eough Spitfires. Thanks for the comments guys, words of encouragement are needed since it takes me on average 7 years to complete a ship model. I have less than 12 hours.
In the shipyard, the Nina is all fitted out and masts are stepped in and rigging is ready to commence. My paper sails did not turn out, thanks cat! So I am using the kit sails. Lashed the two main spars together. Now its time to start making this look like its ready to set sail. Its 7am, coffees on, and the cat got put outside.
Great work to those guys who have finished.
I'm at 26 hours now, but I have to go to work tomorrow, so it will be a limited day.
Somehow I got drawn into building TWO Spitfires XIXs, dunno how I let it happen.
I may drop one off now and just try and beat the deadline with the other, and finish off the 2nd one later on the week.
Here's my progress:
Cheers
Tony
I'm just taking it one GB at a time.
Nice builds guys. And plenty of time to spare!
I'm now at 24 hours and although it looks like I'm nowhere near, looks in this case are decieving. Most of the sub assemblies are done and I will now start buttoning up the fuselage. It should be in Primer in about 3 hours I hope.
Well, I'm calling it a day. Much done!! Fully painted and decaled. Letting some bits dry in final assembly. In the AM I will flat coat and do some more weathing and complete the assembly. I could push through tonight but my back is killing me. Plenty of time to finish in the AM.
Calling this one done. Had some trouble with the old damged decals. A dip in future helped out quite a bit.
Great Sherman!

God, Family, Models...
At the plate: 1/48 Airfix Bf109 & 1/35 Tamiya Famo
On deck: Who knows!
Steve-Great job and congrats-very nice build
Scottrc-I admire your courage-I don't think I would tackle a ship if I had 6 months to build it.
Ran into some issues-thougth using rubber cement on top of the primer to simulate chipping/patches of rust when I added the top coat-not sure if it was the fact that the primer hadn't cured before the rubber cement but the results were not good:
Probably could have made it work but not what I wanted to do, so the body did a quick soak in Castrol Purple Power (or whatever it is,,,) and a fresh coat of flat back primer. Chassis & interior are painted. Plan on giving everything a coat of Future via brush tonight and do some oil washes in the am.

Yeah, it was fun knocking out a kit so quick. I felt a little like Toshi must feel.
Wow very nice MC ! I hope to be complete by tonight .
Lewbud, you’re a madman!
I done, with27 hours to spare, I probably have time to slip in another. I can't this weekend though, I just about spread my wife's patience about as far as I feel safe to push it. We are also having family over tomorrow and hanging Christmas lights on the house.
So anyway, thank you for hosting again this year lewbub, it was fun. I will contemplate throwing in a 1/144 K5 rail gun later, but not sure.
