The PIAT soldiers on.

I worked on cleaning up the mold lines on the rounds yesterday.  Things look good on the PIAT and Enfield rifle after a coat of primer, so proper painting can commence.

Looks good Real G.

Though the PIAT brings to mind a combat caulking gun.

As Jeff Foxworthy would say 'If you've ever held up anyone with a caulking gun... you might be a redneck.'

AA, that is looking really good!

Gamera, thanks!

Real G, those two are looking really good.

The T41 tracks arrived yesterday. Going to be spending a lot of time cleaning as each track run is 158 parts if my math is correct.

My first experience with plastic indie link track was the Academy Stuart.  I immediately developed a healthy dislike of assembly type tracks with end pin connectors.

The next US tank I built was Tamiya’s old Sherman Jumbo, which I was more than happy to use use the kit supplied rubber band tracks.

More WIP: most of the truck is done, except for adding armament and accessories, and a few  minor pieces like the windscreens and the sterring wheel, etc., and decals and weathering.  I have one single Vickers mount applied, but will be adding a twin Vickers and a single Browning .50 cal:

Sort of hit a wall as far as building right now. Did start working on the tracks and the parts are pretty tiny.

Needed to make a jig to build the tracks, otherwise it would be impossible to build them without gluing everything.

And they work!

This week some progress was made on the little truck & gun.

Cabin assembly was completed and all openings & windshields were masked.

I did not like the gun as supplied by ITA. I thought this iconic British weapon deserves something better, so I tried some scratch building on the barrel and retaining mechanism.

After that, the ammo carrier was assembled and now everything is (after a final inspection)  ready for painting.

Most of the building time was consumed in cleaning flash, seam lines, etc from the tiny kit parts.

For the desert (El Alamein) camo, these will be used

Not quite there yet, but getting close!  Guns are up, decals applied, just adding stores now and then some weathering:

A_A: Ohhhh that storage looks good. She's starting to really look like a long range desert patrol vehicle!

BTW: I did a little more work on the Comet this weekend. The poor fit and all the PE is really pushing me away from doing anything with this kit. Don't tell Bish but I've been spending way too much time working on a French tank... Embarrassed

I am shocked gamera, truely shocked.

You actually mean to tell me that the French have tanks. Do they work?

The French tank is nearing completion so I pulled the Comet back out. And one of the PE instruction sheets has vanished. Frankly that's probably a good thing, I decided I'd added enough PE and anymore was more trouble than it's worth.

So I sprayed her down with a couple of coats of Tamiya primer. Found a bunch of flaws and sanded them out. This is the second primering (is that a word?) Going to give her another once over this week to see if there's anything else I can correct and then primer her again.

I got a lot of glue spots all over the engine deck from the glue I used on the PE handholds. And I can't really sand them out.  I think the tank is going to get a load of storage or a big camo net over the rear deck to cover them up...

Looking good gamera.

My apologies Bish for not starting sooner but was bogged down with a couple of comissions. All done with them and will take a break from planes for a tad so I will be starting on the Firefly soon.
