AA: That looks awesome!

Jack: Great work there with the corrections. And I noticed that your kit is by Bronco too. Oh brother, are ALL their kits like yours and mine!?! I've got a couple more of their kits in my stash including a M24 Chaffee... Indifferent

Svenne: Nice work on the chassis (to a Yank that's what I'd call it, there might be a different term in the UK). That blows to see the sprues all broken up like that, you've done a great job repairing the damage.

Hi,

here is a short update on progress (or lack thereof) with the W.O.T.8.

The parts come all sprues together in a single plastic bag.

This means that the bag is cramped and some parts have suffered from this at least 3 parts have actually snapped.

The parts are nicely molded in a soft grey plastic, care needs to be taken when cutting them of the sprues and using a razor saw is a good idea.

Constuction is fairly straightworward but the main chassis / undercarriage / wagon / frame (what do you guys call this in english?) is a multi part assenbly and alligning everything making sure that all parts are square is key.

I did and then again I didn't as you can see from the following pictures...

Didn't quite get the two main beams to allign which results in a bit of a warpage in the completed structure.

This is best vissible here:

As you can see those Kangaroo rails tilt starboard while the portside wheel axle tilt downwards.

While I was up to speed I then managed to get the wheel axle out of center as well:

Oh well, strange how focus and care changes with a bottle of wine or two...

Having said all that I really enjoy this kit!

Since I have now left the "damage control" stage behind me I will probablly aim for tilted wheels and removable drivers compartment.

I mean why not, WOTWOT :)

Keep up the good work guys and happy modeling!

With regards

Svenne

Little update on the Humber Scout Car ...

Before tackling the warped hull, thought it best to get some strength to the body by attaching the underside framework and such.  Above pic is the forward suspension, the leaf springs being composed of two halves glued together.  Major seam to clean up here, with details not lining up square.  So added 4 plastic strips that act as strapping detail.

Above shows the three areas where hull sides are cut apart to better 'splay' out to correct warpage.  The locations are actually weld beads that will have to be reintroduced later.

Further to the correction, have slightly widened the firewall, as well as adding additional thickness.   The piece in the foreground is the part that sits atop the firewall.  A strip of plastic sheet was added here as well to ensure a snug fit once in place, as seen below:

regards,

Jack

Bish, thanks! Yes, that radio is part of the kit; I added the microphone, and the wires for the mic and headphones are made from EZ-Line. I‘ll be sure to snap a close-up pic of it later.

Thank ya Gam Big Smile. Making steady progress Yes, at the point now, in the build, that i'm starting to see real results outta all the blood, sweat, and tears Wink.

Didn't make any progress last night, tired after regualar grocery run to town Tongue Tied, and busy organizing my desk/modelling bence, finally have everything in a decent place, and hauled out a bunch of junk Wink.

Went gung-ho Monday evening, almost have the compartment complete Big Smile. Did lose 1 of the pedals to tweezer "over exertion" Wink. After some struggling, managed to shape a piece of sprue to semi-resemble the real one, I think it'll work fine, nothing else I can do. Other then that, here's where she stands at the moment Smile.

Shaping up to be awesome AA Yes. I got to build me some LDRG's in the future (just for the sake of it being, such an iconic vehicle Smile ).

Thank you Gam Beer. Here's my total progress on Dingo (yes, i'm now calling him by his first name Wink.

Sorry to hear it was a problem. Poor fits sure take the fun outa modelling Sad. I know, i'm trying to deal with 2 bad fitting kits myself. They plain ole burnt me out, with all the sanding, filling, sanding, filling, sawing, filling, sanding... You get the point Wink. I really need to pick better/easier kits to build Tongue Tied. Well, time to quit planning Lucy, get back to building Big Smile.

AA & William: Those looks awesome guys- great progress!!!

Svenne: Looks cool!!!

William: Love the Comet, such a sharp looking tank. Can't say much for this kit though. So far the fit has been horrid. She's together but I used a bunch of clamps and rubber bands to hold her in place while the cement dried. I hope in the coming years the bonds aren't going to pop loose again.... Sad

Almost done with the LRDG truck; loaded it up with stores and adding a few more finishing touches before weathering:

Made some big progress last night (2 hours). Push through nerve-racking assembly of seat, man those are tiny/thin/fragile parts! Lucky I didn't bust anything, fat fingers are a blessing, and a curse. Lol! Mighty proud of how it's looking so far, detail is outstanding, and fit is wonderful. If you want to go full "AMS", then this is the kit to be. Hope ya'll are enjoying the build as much as I am Smile.

Yes, very nice progress on the Comet Gam Yes. One of my all-time favorite tanks, besides the Centurion (planning on building models of both sometime in the furture Wink …). Hopefully I stick with "Slow and steady win the race", and not go turbo on it... Lol!

Hi,

Fixed the warpage but have lost some major parts so waiting for replacement.

So I am going WOTWOT instead :) if that is OK?

Happy modeling and have a nice weekend!

Ah okay! Thanks for clearing that up, sounds like a lot of detail there!

And hey any progress is progress! Assuming you don't muff something up like me all too often and end up having to tear it apart, which is progress I guess just backwards...

Thank you fellers. No they're not aftermarket, came that way in the box. The ones on the sprue are the back rim inserts. There is no mold line in the treads, so I think they slide-molded them separately. They sure nailed it, no need for aftermarket Big Smile.

Slow last 2 days at the bench, managed to get 10 minutes in earlier today. Cleaned up the seam on the gas tank nicely, and took pics Smile.

Despite my grousing I did get more done on the Comet. Lots of sanding to get the hull and turret to fit together but I think it looks halfway decent now.

William: Yeah, that's why I like some of the older kits- bigger parts! I love the detail but it's not so easy on these old eyes.

Looks like a nice kit though. Are those aftermarket wheels? Looks like there are some more on the sprue.

Decided to jump in with the dingo first, thinking it would be easier. Wrong! Not that there's anything wrong with the kit, by far a beautiful model, just hair pulling-ly small. 6 hours in, and first photo-etch I've ever worked with Big Smile. Good stuff!

This ain't a small kit, parts wise, and a bunch of the pe is just stupid small. For peat sake, couldn't they have molded these parts with the pieces?... Oh well, at least everything else redeems the kit, fit, molding quality, detail, ect... Well, back to the (hair pullling Wink) bench...
