Well, make it double happiness... Put me also down for MiniArts 1/35 Dingo Mk.Ib that I picked up cheap today, with a bunch of new decal sheets thrown in for free Geeked.

I've not yet built a Miniart kit, just used some of their figures, so looking forward to seeing that Steve. Flash doesn't look to bad, should be easy enough to deal with.

A bit of flash there but it should be snap to clean up.

Most MiniArt stuff I've built has went together without any issues. And looks like a cool subject too!

Well, I guess i'm going to do my jeep up in North African theater finish. The kit itself looks great, detail is amazing. Just some flash on the sprue gates, nothing on the parts themselves. A few seam lines that should clean out in a flash Wink. I don't think I need any aftermarket for it, except decals, ones that came with it don't look the greatest. That's bout the only real bad thing with this kit. You can buy full aftermarket detail sets for it, but that's for advanced modellers, and I want this to be a quick an easy build, sob. I'm thinking of getting a full resin stores set for it, pile of great ones out there. Other then that, time to get cracking! This one should be a nice brake from all the sanding/filling lousy fitting kits that are on the bench right now Tongue Tied.

Edit: Whoops! Looking at my pics closely, yes, there is flash. I guess i have more work then i thought cut out for me. At least it's a jeep, so easy finishing/rougher work is ok...

Impressive looking truck AA Yes. Camo came out great, and it looks awesome with that Breda outback.

Maybe I should do a desert/sas jeep instead?... Decisions decisions Hmm...

AA: That looks great!

Ziggy: Looks good, best of luck!

I did a little more work on the Comet over the weekend. And gee friggin' whiz the fit on this thing is horrible! I don't think I did anything wrong. The turret doesn't want to fit together- I had to grind down the sides. And now the hull doesn't want to fit either. I had to put down the thing and walk away. I'll try to get back to her this week.

Yes, the LRDG vehicle is coming along nicely.

Azure blue was actually the underside colour for RAF desert aircraft - so it's not an official paint as set out for the Caunter scheme, nor any of the standard paints assigned to the MTO theater for military vehicles.  To be fair to AA, it's Tamiya instructions that wrongly suggest light blue.

The other side of the arguement is that the actual paint shade, Slate Grey, once weathered would take on a light blue look, particularly when viewed in conjuction with the other paints.

regards,

Jack

Thanks for the feedback, guys.  Yes, as Jack said, Tamiya's instructions called for light blue, and I had seen it somewhere else described as azure blue, so I originally went with Vallejo Model Air's UK Azure Blue.  But it honestly looked a little too bright, so I went ahead and repainted it, going over the original blue with a USAF light ghost gray, to tone down the blue.  Also added some dark khaki from the UK Caunter scheme; I like how it looks now:

Hey Bish and crew, i'm back in. Put me down for MiniArt's 1/35 Bantam 40. Plan is to do it in Canadian markings, after DD in Western Europe.

I finally came with plan to replace cat/dog damage.  I will use .032 inch (.8 mm) piano wire and reshaped .080 x .080 styrene.

Ziggy

Thanks for adding me Bish.

Right now I’m researching how to build this model. I learned from building Dragon’s Firefly to be prepared before starting the kit. Think the biggest challenge is going to be the photo etch fenders and sand shields.

I do think I’m going to get aftermarket decals at least for the roundels as the kit supplied ones are too big. Thinking about sourcing aftermarket tracks as well since the kit comes with Dragon Styrene. Been working on a Dragon Tiger I that came with DS tracks and no glue would hold them together I finally had to resort to two part epoxy to get them to hold.

I’m also a little worried if the drive sprocket will hold up under tension from the DS tracks as it’s made up of four parts and fragile once finished. I might try to find a Tamiya Sherman for cheap or a built one just to steal the sprockets from as they made up of two pieces.

Greysnake, as I was researching for my build I ran into your WIP on the Firefly Vc you did not long ago and saved it in my favorites. Some issues with it but looks like fun specially the tracks!

Against my better judgment put me down for Dragon’s 1/35 El Alamein Sherman. Just need to finish up a couple of builds to make room.

Ohhhh, sounds cool!

I built the earlier boxing of this kit several years back. During my research for the paint scheme I came across information that the LRDG would carry various paints along on their sorties so that they could update the camouflage colors and patterns on the vehicles to blend with local conditions after transit from one area to another. A column may start in overall sand or pink for sand dune areas, then go to a slate and stone disruptive scheme in rocky areas.

AA: She's coming along really well. I like the camo, is that considered the Caunter scheme or something else?

Edit: Guess I should look up the spelling of stuff before I post... Dunce

Thanks, Stik! Yeah, I built one many, many years ago when I was just starting out modeling, didn’t even paint it back then. But I’ve always been fascinated by the LRDG, so I’m finally building an LRDG diorama with two of these trucks. This one comes with a Breda 20mm gun (ex-Italeri, repackaged by Tamiya), which I am going to mount in the bed.

Okay, major assemby is done (stilll need to add tires, weapons, and a few minor accessories), so I'm underway on putting on the camo scheme.  On top of the desert yellow base, first I've added some azure blue:
