I think ill let the general kit decals go through, maybe, it just doesnt seem right if you had a german tank from russia for the build.

Ghettochild,, I am building the IV J as well and have a couple books with photos of J's in them. I will have to check dates in them but I will see if I can at least come up with something close to whats on the decal sheet with the model or something that can be atleast hand painted.

I just got the June issue of FSM in the mail yesterday. I'm stoked. The coverage for D-Day is absolutely INSANE. Practically the whole mag seems to be dedicated to it. I've only brienfly leaved through it, but in the next few days as I read it, I should get a good idea of what I want to build. Hope all of you got yours Big Smile [:D]

fightnjoe, do yourself a favor and get the new Academy 1/72 P-38J kit. It is very superior to the 1/72 Dragon kit, which is a Censored [censored] to build.

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] to the Captain. The group builds usually get enough posts to keep them afloat on page 1 or 2. A non-sticky GB thread would still be easy to find...Heck, the Sherman and Panther threads have been resurrected more times than Gilligan's Island has and are still there. Let's not sticky anymore.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't get enough time to read every topic (wish I could) so I troll through the pages looking for what seems to be interesting or a topic I might help in. I have not the time to join this one, but I enjoy reading it anyway. But, to add my 2 cents worth on the way things have been going.....let's all chill out. Usually a GB is thrown around a bit before some rules are settled on. Most guys are happy to have as many people participate as possible, so initial discussions are fluid and guidelines change to account for this. However, I agree that once specific rules are established they should be set in cement, particularly for the younger guys and those on a budget.

The ideal of the Group build is friendly forum to encourage other's to construct and finish a model within the alotted time frame, and share the experience of building on a theme; for those with knowledge of a particular aspect to share that with others. Starting the build a week or so early is no biggie, and in all honesty if someone was to start and say nothing, who would know? That said, a model that is fully completed well before the official start date does not encourage that person to build a model, just present one they have already done for viewing.

Let's just keep it all friendly and stick by the rules established. As long as the GB initiator's don't change the basic rules once set, let's just accept that 'the judge's decision is final'

Yeah, I was quite surprised that it came it. The whole thing, I'm not kidding, seems to be about D-Day, with literally a cr**load of all sorts of useful things. There's a roundup of all the armor used, in all of the sides involved, there's a wingy thingy kit roundup of all aircraft involved, a detailing feature, history lesson...hehe it really is a great issue.

QUOTE: Whats every one building For this build?
I'm building a 1/72 c-47 Skytrain and Glider
and maybe a 1/35 LVCP
I'm still looking for some armor so dont worry

Man, I've been trying ot figure THAT out since I wanted to be in this build. Gotta finish reading this FSM, and after that I should have an idea of what I want to do. Maybe a Marder...

Hey Joe, Don't say I didn't warn you Evil [}:)]. Good luck on the coming build. With those woofers under your belt you may find the Dragon P-38 an easy build.

I'm going to be building a simple diorama showing a Canadian M-7 Priest moving inland from Juno beach. It will be either June 6th or 7th, I just have to finish researching to see which units came on when.

Sorry i havent posted in a while i was in D.C.

I saw the WW 2 memorial and that is really what this build is about. Its about building vehicles used by the honorable solders who went to hell and back, saw their best friends get killed, were injured or killed, and saw some of the most Horrenedous images that we could not even imagine what it was like to be there.

Next time you want to complain about the stupid guidelines just think of the GI's Brits and Germans who actually were shot at from the vehicles were building. just think about it, you guys sound like a bunch of 5 year old kids bickering about 4-square rules. Come on just think about why we're doing this.

At the memorial i saw many WW 2 veterans and they showed me why I was building armor. To honor the people who used them and their fight for the freedom of the World, or the honorable soldiers who they were fighting against

Sorry about my ranting but I needed to get that off my chest.

As for what i'm going to build:

A DUKW in a ponte du hoc dio
and more...

as for the dio I'm building to you guys know if there are kits of those Grappling hook things.

Well put Will. It is about the veterans, that is the main reason we are doing this group build. I would love to see the very belated WW II memorial. Glad you got to go.

For the veterans!

OK guys. I know that I said that I will be just an observer but when I previously decided to join this GB I prepared a sig animation for this GB. So let me break my silence for just a moment. I finished it already and it seems to run just fine.

I am giving this GB the right to use this as a GB logo or signature. However, please don't use it as a personal signature animation or badge. The file size of this thing is quite large and it will slow down the thread if used by many.

Anyway...here it is. For the Veterans! For our Heroes!

http://www.info.com.ph/~tdwight/dday.gif

Now let me go back to my observer's status.

I haven't see a detailed picture of the grappling hooks/launchers used a Ponte du Hoc, but I remember them being pretty simple affairs. With a could of good reference pictures you would probably be able to stratch build a few without too much trouble.

Ponte du Hoc would defintely make for a cool diorama, hope you can get something that works Smile [:)]

If it isnt to late I would like to join the build. I looked through my collection of unbuilt kits and I have a Accurate Miniatures F6-B Tac Recce mustang Little Sir Echo 2 flown by Maj. Russ Berg. If this fits your idea for the build then count me in. Sadly its the best kit that represents the build theme and if it doesnt fit then Ill have to pass as Im already buying a kit for a different GB and have way to many unbuilt kits.
