I've been on vacation for a week and just got back. Wow Joe, you can do something that I can't: post and build. Looks great. I hope to get something done on my Marder this week, perhaps spray a base.

Very nice build Ghettochild. I don't know much about Armor, but it's a great looking model.

Well, ya'll I am moving right along with the Razorback... I attached and masked the canopy (the other reason I stopped building AC) two days ago and sprayed the interior color last night. I am using the technique of spraying the interior color on the outside first then the camo colors so that the framing looks pale green from the inside. I just have to pop on the wings and start painting the camo. I am excited about doing the "Wolf Pack" camo, its oddly like painting a panzer just dif colors...

Off to NM this weekend, so no progress till next week....

thanks guys
rjk, i am happy with the results but not satisfied. the wrinkles in the foil were rather upsetting at times and the loss of detail was frustrating but overall i am happy with it.

Joe, for a first try at foil, not bad. Glad you overcame some of the difficulties. I think you would get better results with BMF, especially in 1/72. Course all i use is Alclad2 for NMF, so what do I know.

Looks great joe! I dont think I will ever try that method for natural metal finish, too time consuming! but the results are good.

ok all. as this p-38 of mine is also for the nmf gb i am going to stop posting the pics as it is very close to the end for me. one of the guidrules in that build was we would not post until the end date, oct 31,2004. in fact i have about thirty decals to do. future to seal, weathering and done. i will however post a link so that you can see the finished build.

i thank you all for the kind words and the helpful comments.

will do. so far the results are good but compared to some of the other nmf builds i have seen this build is sloppy. i made some big mistakes, such as the sections of foil were much too large, i spread the glue much too thick, i was too impatient. painting would have been easier but the effect would have been lost i believe. i think that with this experience if i do this type of thing again i could improve the finish. but then i went into this saying it would be a learning experience.

joe

When I did my first household foil finish (f100), I made the same mistakes and had the same problems - wonderful learning experience tho and I am going to try it again, the finish is worth it.

Just started my piper l4 - looks like this is going to be an easy build OOB.

Thanks Joe. The build has progressed and the wing is now assembled to the fuselage. Just about ready to prime & paint. Will post some more progress pics in a day or two.

Mostly done with Typhoon. Still have a little touch up to do on it but it's at least presentable. To see it click on the "web" icon at the botton of my signature & then go to
"Group Build One". It's in Photobucket.
Re the Typhoon: this is a 1/32 Revell kit. Fit was a major issue in only 2 spots: on the
bottom of the fusalage where it joins with the wing assembly, and then the canopy, the
fit of which I can describe only as excrable. Because the curvature of the canopy did not
match the curvature of the fusalage the two made contact at only two tiny points, which made anchoring the canopy very problematic. I had to pack putty mixed with liquid cement under the front part of the gap. The back part I left as is. Also, the rockets I borrowed from a 1/32 Hasegawa Hellcat kit (the same one that you see now on my signature pic). I don't think that these are really historically accurate since the Brits (I believe) used rockets that launched off wooden rails. Some of you might know more about this. Anyway, it is what it is. Thankfully the camera hides a multitude of sins.

I was making good progress on my dio and Priest model, but the last two weeks have been uber busy so I haven't gotten anything done lately. The dio base is finished, as is the basic Priest, but I've still got to add extra gear, weather it and get the crew finished up. Still got a month though, here's hoping.... Wink [;)]

I don't have a digital camera so it's hard to post progress pictures, but when it's all done I'll post pictures for everyone to comment on.

Good luck to everyone else on their builds Smile [:)]

Well time for me to get off my duff & post some progress. My build is a P-51C from the 363rd Fighter Squadron, 357th Fighter Group, 8th AF. Using Tamiya's excellent P-51B kit as the base, with some AM goodies to spice it up a tad.

Here's the basic cockpit tub glued into the left fuselage half. Mix of kit, resin & PE parts. Sprayed with ModelMaster Interior Green, Green Zinc Chromate, Olive Drab & Dark Tan. Detail painting brush painted with Vallejo acrylics. Weathering done with Burnt Sienna water color & Prismacolor Silver & Light Grey pencils.

And here's another pic showing the Ultracast resin seat with brush painted seat belts.

Here's a pic showing the Eduard PE Instrument Panel.

And here's a pic of the right fuselage half.

Now have to glue the halves together & start moving on to the end game.
