Will be starting at midnight. Just a quick test to see if I remember how to post photos.
Good Luck guys!

Justin - I've built both of those kits. Either will build up into a lovely model.
I've made a start on mine...
and progress so far. The only extra work is to drill out the gun barrel. I'll leave the machine gun and shovel off to be painted seperately. THe kit comes with a choice to build a Crusader II or Crusader III. As this is a repeat of a buil that I did as a kid, and that was a Crusader III, so will this one be. Some nice parts for the spares box.
I'm just taking it one GB at a time.
So, aside from not knowing exactly when my 48 hours will begin, I have narrowed it down to two kits. Not sure which one, maybe both? lol
"...failure to do anything because someone else can do better makes us rather dull and lazy..."
Mortal as I am,I know that I am born for a day. But when I follow at my pleasure the serried multitude of the stars in their circular course, my feet no longer touch the Earth...
Hey everyone! Pretty excited about this GB! I've decided which kit to do. I have been watching a bunch of documentaries on Amazon about space flight, aircraft, etc...and watching The Right Stuff on Disney+, so, with that being an inspiration, I pulled my Revell 1/72 X-15 kit (#85-5247) out of the stash! Now, I need to decide if I go "gear" up and hang it or down and display on the shelf with the pilot figure standing next to it.
I will either start Thursday night or first thing Friday morning. Can't wait to see the "madness" this weekend!
Ok, I have decided at this point that the Albatros might be too quick for a weekend build, and I'll start this weekend with my 1/48 Accurate Miniatures Yak-1 in the marking os Lilia Litvyak.
I read about her in Dan Hampton's "Lords of the Sky," and then found this novel based on her life (it's in French, and it's really not that good, so don't bother). But her story is interesting, and I wanted to build her plane.
Thanks for the heads-up Lew! I finally decided on my first build: MiniArt's 1/35 T-70 M
I considered a few others, but settled on this one due to it's lower parts count and simplicity of construction. The indie links are the only thing that will slow me down.
And for the first time in my history of Weekend Madness GBs I will actually start this holiday weekend. Covid caused my family to cancel our annual T-Day get together, so I'm using the long weekend for some modelling madness!!
Now to clean up the bench and prep!

Thanks Tony. It's good to be back working. I think you're across the dateline as well so when it hits Thursday, go for it. Looking forward to your build.
Buddy- Those who say there are no stupid questions have never worked in customer service.
I'll be joining you with a Thursday morning start Steve. First attempt will be a 1/72 Tamiya P-51D with a twist.

Cool! We look forward to your build!

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Justin,
You've got some time. This build normally peters out after New Years.
lewbud One week to go!
One week to go!
Almost forgot about this!!!!! Still unsure as to what kit I will build...I am probably going to decide at the very last minute! I also started to panic a little bit, as I am unsure of my schedule, and aside from working on friday, and preparing a cubscout Pack meeting for the following Saturday, I am free and clear! lol
Oh, no - I worked in customer service. That's how I know that stupid questions abound.
Brandon,
For this build, you would have to build the prop in the 48 hour time frame.
Ok, dumb question: If I go with my biplane, and I use a homemade real wood propeller, must I also build the prop as part of the weekend build, or can I treat it as if I bought it as an aftermarket piece and put it on the build, having constructed it beforehand?
Proper Plane makes props, but they don't do 1/48, so I have to make my own.
Maybe I should just build the car... haha.
BrandonD,
Got you on the list. Be careful when fondling and sniffing the plastic.
Thanks for the well wishes guys. I made it through the first two weeks of training so I'll be getting my first paycheck in eight months on Friday. It's a good feeling.
lewbud Welcome aboard Steve! I've got you on the list. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I started a new job Tuesday after having not worked in almost eight months.

I haven't been on here ina while (maybe a year or more?) but I was thinking the other day about this build in particular, and here I am.
I may just have to do my 1/48 Albatros D.III. But that might be too ambitious. My other options include a 1/35 Minerva armored car (though some parts are removed from the sprue, but not glued, if that's OK).
Edited to add: Looks like I have taked one part off the sprue on the Minerva. If I do that one, I'm happy to take a 10-second penalty :)
Ten days to go.........................
starting to twitch......................
Glad you're back Tony! I"ve got you on the list. I look forward to seeing that classic come together.
Hi Lewbud, I'd like to join please. I'll probably do it on the weekdays preceding or after the 26th. This is my subject, the condition of the box tells me that it is time to build it.
Cheers
Tony
Waggish,
Welcome to the madness! As long as you finish the model in the alotted time, what you do afterwards is up to you.
Can't say yet what I'll be doing or when I'll be able to eek out 48 uninterrupted hours, but for now count me in.
Also, if you could provide a brief clarification; Let's say I wanted to do a small scale armored subject. Would it be bending the rules to finish the subject in the time frame, and then after do a simple display base, or would that need to be incorporated into the 48 hours as well.
