Tom, Bilek do a Do 17 in 1/72, this is the old Airfix kit, so you'd have to contend with loads of rivets, and raised panel lines! It would certainly be different though.

My Hasegawa Hurricane night fighter arrived on Tuesday, so I now have it stashed away ready for February, just need to get an AM canopy, wheels, wheel bay insert, and a few bits of PE for seat belts, flame shields etc.

Rick,
No problems, you're now doing the E4 Yellow 7. Are you going to do the Defiant for the GB?

Tom,
I like your thinking Thumbs Up [tup], something a little different without being impossible to come by. Here is a link to a site with a nice history of the Martlet in FAA service http://www.fleetairarmarchive.net/Aircraft/MartletWildcat.htm
BTW, 804 and 808 are the only FAA squadrons recognised as operating with RAF Fighter Command in the Battle of Britain.
Here is the link for 804 squadron
http://www.fleetairarmarchive.net/Squadrons/804.html

Here is the link for 808 squadron
http://www.fleetairarmarchive.net/Squadrons/808.html

Karl,
For accessorising your Hurricane I am personally a big fan of the Canadian firm Ultracast. I have bought a lot of their stuff in the past and I have found it to be first class. At the moment I have their Hurricane Mk.I seat with harness, replacement armor plate and a replacement piece for the fuselage behind the armour plate sitting with a Squadron canopy waiting to go into my Hurri Mk.I. Here is a direct link to their site http://www.ultracast.ca/

Sean,
Are you still planning on doing the 109 E3 as well as the Defiant?

Cheers

Yeah, the 109 is a definate go.

And yeah, I'll do the Defiant, it's a cool craft.

And if I follow tho9900's idea, might be able to get some A/M bits.

OK lads, I need some information. I plan to build either a Me-109 or spitfire for this GB. What I need to know is, what versions of these aircraft were flown during the BoB? There's just so many different versions of both planes, and this isn't really an area of great knowledge fore me. So any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Darren Thanks for the tip. I must admit I was quite impressed with the Hase cockpit on first impressions, but I haven't touched the kit yet, so Ultracast might well be the way to go. I just need to find a supplier in the UK.

Pingtang The Revell kit in 1/48 is worth a look. It's a rebox of Hasegawa's E-4, and includes decals for Helmut Wick's machine. Definitely very suitable for this GB. There are plenty of AM parts & decals for these machines as well.

lol! how does Arróz con Pollo sound? I's a South American dish.. think that might bring you closer to the CA kit? who knows? might even get you AM decals too! lol!

It works in my house... she even knows I do it on purpose... I do most of the cooking anyway because I like to, (saves me from washing dirty dishes) but when I bring out something out of the ordinary she always says "After dinner go order that airplane you've been looking at on the internet"

---edit---

or another idea... tell her she's been working too hard lately and to give her a break you will take her out to eat... then spring the CA kit on her in casual dinner conversation... "One of my friends mentioned there's an airplane out I've ALWAYS wanted to build, JUST RELEASED!" judging from her reaction you know if you need to order a glass of wine with dinner or the whole bottle! Clown [:o)]

The Bf109E, E-1, E-3 & E-4 were all used by the Luftwaffe in the BOB. The Spitfire MkI & Mk II were used by the RAF.

I was thinking, it might be time to dust off my Airfix 1:72 Anson or Arado Ar196. But I may to going to be tackling too much with the Monogram 1:48 Spit and one of the Airfix kits.

All will require a fair degree of elbow grease!

opinions?

cheers

Mike, It's up to you, but what you could do if finish the Spitfire, see how you feel and then put yourself down for the Arado or Anson if you want too. Your choice.

Well, dinner is a must, as well as housework, washing the car, feeding the fish AND sorting the sock draw.[:0]

Not only do I have too butter her up for the Defiant, but I am currently trying to obtain a Trimaster kit, and we know the price on those things!!![:0]

Sad [:(]To think a grown man is scared of a 5'13/4 woman (If I forget the 3/4" part, she will remind me, and punctuate her sentences with furniture!!!!)

Ah well, recevied my Bf 109E4 today, so seeing how I go with the E3 and the Defiant, might have time to squeeze in the 4, or maybe might leave that for a 'North Africa GB', cause one of those is sorly needed.

ATTENTION PLEASE

Hi all,
I have been thinking about this for a while now and have decided I need to put something to a vote.

How do you all feel about moving the start date for the build from Feb 1 to Jan 1 2005 (the end date will remain the same)?

My original intent was to leave Jan aside as I figured that a lot of people would be away on holiday’s etc. But I see a lot of multiple builds waiting to start a lot of interest in the GB and dammit I want to start building.

Anyway it's up to you, the members of this Group Build just post a response in this thread or send me an e-mail letting me which way you want to jump. Leave the dates 'as is' or move the start to Jan 1.

Thanks
Darren

January is fine with me, as long as the finish date remains unchanged. I probably wont get started by then, but it does give a little more wiggle room.

Jan works fine for me.
Have decided to tackle at MOST 2 GB at one time, keeps things easier.

Will finish Ol Guns in December, and start BoB, works really well!

Jan is pefect... I should be through with my Naval Aviation spot by then, and be ready to go!

Sad to see ya go fighterguru.. stick around and see the progress if ya want!

Tankmaster... there's a lot of oddball planes left unclaimed if ya want something different... we'd gladly let ya know what is open or what planes flew then if ya want..
