I'm in with a B-17. My Dad was on his way in on one when the Japanese came in! [:0] They didn't have any guns to fight 'em off!Evil [}:)] I will be Academy's 1/72 kit.

I also have Lindberg's "Attack on Pearl Harbor" set (1/800) & a Tamiya 1/700 IJN Zuikaku if anyone's interested. Big Smile [:D] I can hardly do 1/72 scale, let alone 1/700 or smaller!! LOL Tongue [:P] - Calvin

This link did not work for me. Is it correct the way it is or is the site maybe down?

I'd like to get in on this build. I normally stick to armor, but a plane or ship would be a nice change of pace. Maybe a waterline ship(I believe they were 1/700 by Fujimi?) I built a ton of those as a kid - maybe I'll get back to my roots. I'll do some research and let you know. Pete

pete it would be a great build. now there were some artillery units for coastal defense. but a ship would be awesome.

http://www.navweaps.com/ go to this link and then enter through order of battle.

now a badge. first option

Joe,

I would like to participate. I have a couple of ideas on what to do but I have a few months to decide. Start date is August 7, 2005, right.

Had some inspiration and though I might try locate a kit of the U.S.S. Ward. I found 2 possibilities on GreatModels web site but I'm not sure if I'm looking at the right thing. They list 2 Commander Series kits: the first (#csm18003) doesn't have a photo and they carry it as 'Special Order', which, according to their instructions means it could come in 2 months or never. The second (#csm4074) is listed as being the U.S.S. Decatur (DD341) but includes parts to build the Ward or the Bainbridge. First of all, are either of these kits for the right ship, and secondly, if so, is there a better place to locate them ? I thought maybe some of you ship guys could help out a landlubber before I plunk down $70 bucks on a kit that might not be the right one. Thanks in advance, Pete

From the info I've found so far, it looks like the second kit may be the right one. Although the Ward and the Decatur/Bainbridge are different classes, from pictures I've found they might be close enough in appearance (flush deck/four stack) that a kit could be made to build both versions. I'm going to do some more research before committing and post this question over on the ships board, but I'm leaning stronger in this direction. Thanks for the links, they were very helpful. Pete

Eurika!! I've found it. The kit I found on GM is the proper one. You can put me down for the Commander Series 1/350 U.S.S. Ward. It is a resin kit-which would be a first for me, and it is $76, so I may chicken out, but I have a few months to convince myself that I can build this thing. Pete

hmmm... ::Shifty glance at Darren:: so you just "HAPPENED" on this group build as well, did ya? Wink [;)] Glad to see ya here Darren! Enjoy your company!

Is Tweety in on this one? I'd be surprised if he was... neither side had any interesting camo at this point in the war.. Oh well he could always paint a bunch of squiggles and lines on it, then spray the white or blue/grey over it afterwards...

Still undecided on the build subject, not sure which kit I will do... decisions... decisions...

---edit---

ooooohhh... just reading back and think I might have found something... Jeeves is going to worry about me building so many things he does... but I just lucked into a 1/32 P-26A Hasegawa kit on eBay and it's sitting right there on my closet shelf! Might be a good reason to break it out... I always liked that little plane!

I kinda think the pink camo scheme would be a good one for old Sean to build... something different after all those machismo Nazi aircraft he has been doing... might settle his nerves a bit! Wink [;)]

How could I resist this one? With the build date that far away, expect me to add a few more kits to this. I've got my eye on a P-36 and a Kate at HL, I'm just waiting for the next sale. Hopefully no one else will grab them before then.

Aloha all!

While doing some on-line research on Fort Kam, I stumbled across this message thread. I'm the 15th Airlift Wing historian at Hickam, and I would love to see the results of this group build when done. I've never done model work before (well, apart from simple stuff for miniatures games) and am very interested in any model of Fort Kamehameha and its artillery. We're developing a series of historical intrerpretive signage for all across Hickam, and Fort Kam is a key part of our proposed historical tours.

Please keep me posted as the work develops, and if there's any historical support I can give you just holler.

Has anybody built the Hasegawa 1/48 B5N2 Type 97 (Kate) torpedo bomber? I am thinking of building this for the GB as something different as I normally concentrate on allied fighters.
If anybody has built this kit before I would love to hear from you.

Cheers

Steve--

Any pics or links to them of some Hickam Field Peashooters around the time of attack would be great-- I am trying my hand at something different....joe has given me a couple great B&W pics-- but the colors are difficult to differentiate.

Yup-- I will take the cold over that heat any day-- I am from even further north so the winters never really bother me-- I can't stand heat though. You can always add more layers on, but there is only so many layers you can take of and still be decent Wink [;)]
