Jeeves I dont know how you do anything in the cold. Here in Texas as soon as I get home from work I jump right into my shorts and Im in heaven, if it gets over 110 you just make your self a colder drink.

For me that would have to be liquid nitrogen.

Well I've definitely made my decision on a build. I've put the Hasegawa 1/48 Nakajima B5N2 Type 97 Kate 3 torpedo bomber on lay away for a couple of months at my LHS.

The only thing is I might need a bit of help with some diagrams to scratch build the attachment on the prop end of the torpedo.

Cheers

Hey Fightnjoe,
I think I would like to do this one, the time line is just about right and After the hurricane I am doing for the BoB GB I had sort planned on doing a Japanese plane, I had thought maybe an ocsar but a A6M2 from the Zuikaku would be cool too. So put me down for an A6M2 in 1:48.
Any suggestions for a good kit?

jules i do believe that would be fair. the finish would be more of a satin. not a gloss but definite not a dull.

Jules, It feels like it gets to a 110 but most of the time it may only reach 101-102.

Some days are two shirt days, you just have to plan ahead. Its not that bad I still rather it be hot than cold.

The way I figure it... you can always add more layers when it's cold-- but there is only so much you can take off in the heat without either getting arrested or at the minimum- ticking off your neighbors Wink [;)]

i am posting this one for two reasons. to bump it and to remind all that if you are still undecided about a subject you may want to start considering options. some of the kits are harder to find. some may be discontinued. the reason for starting this thread so early was to help to get the info out there and provide some options. with such an enormous amount of time before the start date i was hoping to help all to get an early start on kit and detail purchasing.

I'd like to make a change in my subject. There's lots of 'Kates', 'Vals' and 'Zekes' going to be made, along with some P-40's so I'll change my build to a PBY stationed at Perl durring the attack. I'd like to get my Monogram kit together.

If anyone is interested, I have some decent references on the Kate, Zero and p-40. If anybody needs anything specific drop me a line. BTW one of the references on the Kate (a detailed technical guide) is completely in Japanese, but does have some great photos.

Joe, You can officially put me down for the Commander Series 1/350 USS Ward (well this kit is the Decatur, with parts to build the Ward). If someone could point me in the direction of a resource regarding the proper paint colors, that would be great.

Joe, the badge looks pretty good, the only comment I would make is the color of the font makes it really hard to read.
