I like the pic on the first one but the set up of the second is better. Also, is Jules building two A6M2's? (he's on the list twice). I will also build the A6M2 but don't know which kit yet. When can we add the patch to our sig?

Joe,

I'd like to see the list just for the sake of having them. I'm a 'historical enthusiast' about Pearl Harbor, too.

In fact, If you're not sure what to build, here's a site that I found with a list of what was there:

i have just recieved an email from the historian at shoefield. i am told the m2a2 was in use in the army december of 1941, and although she didnt have any pics to validate it there was an armored unit in hawaii during that time period. i will get the email and get the specifics of the units but this might be something that is an option also.

Hey all, I just picked up my Hase 1/48 B5N2 Kate w/torpedo from my LHS other day (pay day). I have had this kit on lay away for a while now and was looking forward to checking it out Big Smile [:D]
My first impression is, wow what a small aircraft, I was really expecting something a lot bigger but I suppose space is at a premium on small carriers. Anyway, the kit looks great, and I'm hanging out till Aug so I can get started.

Question for you guys, who has the best IJN paint selection? I normally stick with MM enamels, but I would appreciate your advice as this is my first IJN aircraft.

Cheers

got this from a judith boweman, us army museum of hawaii.

Most of the weapons used during this time frame were mobile AA guns and fixed CA guns. As for tanks I contacted the 25ID museum at Schofield Barracks and he advises:

“Okay, the only tank unit in Hawaii on 7 December 1941 was the 11th Tank Co. was not assigned to either 24th or 25th ID. From what I can see it was assigned to the Hawaiian Department on 7 December. According to my info, the company was disbanded on 23 April 1942.

As for what tanks they used……well……I know what they were using in the mid 30s for sure but I’m not positive what they had on 7 December. They definitely had M2A2 light tanks in the mid 30s (I’ve got photographic evidence of that), however I don’t have any photos that can be definitely dated 1941. According to sources, the standard light tank in 1940 was the M2A4, which on the outside looks like a M3 Stuart. I do not see any photographic evidence of 11th Tank Co. possessing M2A4s on 7 December, so I’m hesitant to state anything for sure. Bottom line: they had M2A2’s in the mid 30s”

hope that helps someone.

fightnjoe---

I would love to be a part of this build. I'm itching to build the B5N2, but I saw that someone has already signed up for this one. Is it ok to duplicate aircraft? I'm sure there were a lot of kates at pearl harbor, so maybe I will try to contact the other builder and make sure we get different decal markings etc... If this is ok with you then please let me know. I saw this over in the LEM section but I thought I would sign up here. (I got interested in pearl harbor models b/c my brother used to be stationed there.)

Thanks

matthew sorry for the delay in responding. duplicate planes are perfectly acceptable. in fact i am also planning to do a kate. even duplicate subjects are welcome. after all it is what you want to build for this. welcome to the build.

Hey Mathew, the only condition there is about building a Kate, is that it's not allowed to be better than mine. I have a very sensitive ego that's easily bruised Big Smile [:D] Big Smile [:D].

Joe, would you mind updating page one with my build, I am definitely locked in for the 1/48 Hasegawa B5N2 Kate, thanks.

Jules, I think I will go the same way as you paint wise. From what I have checked out Gunze has a great range of IJN colors.

Four Months Sad [:(]

Cheers

Four months left ? ARRRRRRRRHHHHHH! I just got a little box from England that has the PE and float planes for my Arizona. I got them with my Bismarck PE and I can't wait to start it.

Of coarse this Bissie should keep me occupied until August.Approve [^]

Darson---
I can provide a virtually airtight guarantee that my kate will not be better than yours. Keep in mind I dropped the hobby for about ten years due to career taking over my entire life and have only pigheadedly forced it back in over the past three months. I'm building the 1/48 hasegawa kate, JT 76 on hasegawa's website. I wanted to build one with a torpedo instead of a bomb, but this kit doesn't provide that option. Since there are quite a few other hasegawa kate kits offered, I guess they do actually produce a torpedo model. Oh well. Looking forward to this build.
