The SA-2 continues. I've decided that I'll probably stick with a Russian as opposed to an Egyptian vehicle. It allows me to not keep the model in too many subassemblies, and as a result, the truck is almost finished. I will be adding some scratchbuilt detailing to the firewall, as the engine covers will be open.

No pics yet, but I had time to finish up the front and rear suspension subassemblies. I'm afraid that the truck will just be broken down into way too many subassemblies.

That's one impressive looking missle. Nice work.

Well, work on the kit has finally started, and after a full day, there's not much to show I'll see if I can post pics later on this week. So far the engine is done and painted up, it's a little kit in and of itself. The frame and front axle subassemblies are done. Frame went together with relatively few problems. Unfortunately, it looks like there will be a whole slew of subassemblies in this kit, especially on the truck due to the differing colours to be used for various parts. The kit is a beauty, full of detail, but just a pain on the patience. There are just so many small parts. Still, should be just beautiful when done. Anyone know of any modern figures that I could use with this kit?

Thanks much Roadkill and Bstrump. I'm in the complete opposite situation as you are Roadkill. I keep wanting more hours and they refuse to let me have any more at work. But as for you, 92.3 hours working OMG that is alot.

Lookin good all. Paul, that Nike is damn impressive, all the more so since its scratchbuilt!Bow [bow]. I haven't gotten much done this week because of the work schedule (92.3 hours this week!) but they are promising shorter hours starting tomorrow. Keep up the good work guys.

Started the SA-2 last night. I decided that because of the size of the model, for ease of future handling, it'll be going on to a base.
2 hours of work -> Transmission, engine, and parts assembled and laid out waiting for paint. Engine needs to be assembled first in order to fit and continue with construction of truck frame.

Thanks Skarpotchi! I'm still plugging away it. Man is this thing a bear to work on. I need a bigger work bench. I finally got the rear end modified and blended in to my satisfaction. Whew! No just gotta work on getting the wings to fit tightly before I paint the sub-assemblies.

Ok, I've finally settled on something. I'll go with the Trumpeter SA-2 Guideline missle on truck transporter. I've had the kit in the box for a while, waiting to build it ever since it came out. I've heard great things about the kit, and it looks just so typically Russian, i'm allready salivating.

Wow... between changing dirty [:0] diapers Dead [xx(] and feeding the baby, or as I like to call her "the devourer of formula" I have had limited time to model. But the work does continue. Just yesterday I managed to squeeze out 5 minutes to look at the F-101 instructions...Smile [:)]

At the moment my modeling time has come to a screeching halt. The new job involves a lot of overtime and I'm still working at the airport on the weekends. I'll try to get some modeling in sometime this week and post some pics of it next weekend.

Seam work on the B-36 continues. Most are now cleaned up except I'm still working on the modified tail radome. As luck would have it, I managed to install the wing carry through box upside down. So, now I need to modify that to get the wings to install tightly.Banged Head [banghead]

Go for it Zoki, Whose to say its not right?? It meets several of the criteria I had originally started with. 1 It was used operationally by one of the participants and 2 It's not a total fantasy or prototype.

Yes it is available, but it is ridiculously out of my price range, thus it may as well not exist. If I only had some good references it'd make my life easier, but no matter where I try to look, no one has a clue.

Zok, believe a resin converson is available from panzershop for that.

No, they do not use Olive Drab. There are correct colours available from Model Master however.

I have a question for the admin of the GB. I want to try to scratchbuild/kitbash an AT-T tractor (truck body on T-54/55 chasis) I have very few references, but I just love the way the vehicle looks, so I wanted to make the best I could out of it. It will be far from 100% accurate, so I do not know whether or not that would be legit for this GB. If so, please let me know, as I'd probably like to start building soon.

thanks for the help Kaleu. someone posted that the Soviets didn't use olive drab, so I might look into some other scheme.....

Hi all! here are some progress pics of my T-72. Does anyone know what an appropriate camo scheme would be for a Soviet version of this tank? The instructions call for olive drab, but I was wondering if there are any other schemes used?

hmmm.....perhaps I will ask this in a separate post.

Some great progress being made here! Skarpotchi, I-beam, roadkill, your builds look great. I've got some progress of my own to show you. Here's where I've gotten so far on the Monogram B-36:

And here I've mocked up the assemblies

Big, huh?

I'll be spending the next little while polishing the seams and modifying the rear radar into the single radome of the RB-36D, which is the version of the kit that I'm doing.

Can't wait to see your pics.

This should be Yellow Zinc Chromate. Some of the interior pieces were supplied by contractors and they used what paint they had on hand. I found a really nifty reference site on bombers a while back that listed some of the contractors on the various bomber projects and it was a real eye opener. Found out that Maytag (yes, the washing machine people) manufactured parts for the B-36, B-45 and B-52.
