Wow Comrade Sergei, I hope no one was injured...If so we can enlist their childern.

Well I started my two F-101s. The offices is are coming along nicely. And the custom decals are done. Here is a pic of the emblem, I used it on an F-86D as my test run. And it came out perty good. The 101s will have this emblem on the tail.

Happy May Day!!!

iN HONOR OF THE OCCASION, I held a celebratory parade in my basement. But since I have no digital camera: thaes will have to do.

(no that is not my couch.) I taped up some propaganda posters to my couch, made a little lego podeum, and set up a lego dude on it to be the Premier. Then I got all my other Lego people to stand in front of it and watch.

The Premier makes a speech to his people.

Then, A parade of the Red Army was held (tank models and toy soldiers)

The project for the new five-week plan was revealed: A SCUD truck!
Construction was begun immediately. There were some initial difficulties (A sprue fell over, trapping several underneath) but construstion soon began in ernest.

I didn't actually start, cause I'm waitning on my Compressor. but hopefully I will get that and start soon.

Nope, not dead. I'll be around a lot more once I get my build going.

I've decided that since we have so much time with this, that I'll add my F-106 to it. If anybody wants to build more than 1 or 2 kits thats fine, I'm going to see how many I can get built that fall into my criteria, with out messing me up for my next GB (ANG birds).

Anthony, excellent work. I was curious to see what you'd do with it. How did you scrape off the tires off the roadwheels? Or did you? I can't see from the pics Smile [:)]

Thanks, I used my Dremal and sanded the tire part off.

Zokissima, that would be fine.

I got started on my F-80 this week, nothing major, just some detail painting in the pit. I'll have some pics up next week.

Oh yeah, and one more question. This would be for Kevin, owner of GB:
You state vehicles NOT involved in a shooting war. I have the Trumpeter SA-2 missle on transporter, a model I'm leaning to more and more. They were involved in Vietnam, but obviously other nations had 'em, nations that weren't involved. So, would it still be applicable to build one, if I just built it with markings from a nation not involved in any conflict?

Updates: Got some paint on the Kilo sub (red part). Still need to do the upper hull. Almost finished with the putty fill-in on the nike-hercules. I got impatient so I taped some cardstock fins on to see what it would look like. Haven't started on the Goer vehicle. Need some tires/wheels. I know everyone else is busily working on theirs LOL. Cmon post some progress pics Cool [8D]

Great job on the smashed T-55, I love it. I have a question for you. Is the Trumpeter kit detailed any??? On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being a Linberg and a 10 being the Tamiya, where does this kit range?

I have not built the Tamiya so I can't say much about the detail. The kit has as far as I know it, all the detail there; it's just that the fit sucks. There was an article on here ( FSM ) workbench reviews I think about the kit, check it out, it tells you about the fit problems and other stuff ( course I read it after I bought the kit!! )

Thanks for the comment.

AND we're OFF...
Well I guess since I'm here I'll tell ya'll I have started my (2) F-101's. I've done my research, and printed up like 20 pictures here at work for referance. Started the offices on them both. As for the outside, one will be metal finish and the second one will be that ugly blue/grey color. The only real hang up will be the squadron decals, I have to make the 444th FIS decals myself. But that will come in time.

Good Luck ya'll and happy building.

Started the F-4 from the Revell air aces set (F-4J and Mig-21). What a piece of doggie mud. The F-4 is like a scaled up version of a 1/72nd scale kit. Plastic is soft, detail is slightly oversized and the cockpit is just the pits. no raised detail and the IP's are just a piece of flat clear plastic with no detail - ugly really. Not going to spend a whole lot of time with this pit and am going to concentrate on a Ferris scheme that VFA 302 wore for a short time (according to an FSM article from 1988).
Glad this kit was given to me and didn't cost me any $$$, isn't really worth it.

Great build, errr un-build. Anyway I already commented in the post over in armor forum. Like I said there, you portrayed what you intended very well. I know it's done but you could add some small overfill spills from the external fuel tanks around the caps without alot of effort. but you don't have to. I know you said your going by pics so if the pics don't show it then don't worry.

O.K guys, I have also completed my entry into this GB. Here is my destroyed T-55 finished. It is by Trumpeter. All damage is scratch built, for weathering I used real rust and some food spices. Looking foward to all comments, enjoy!

Kevin,
I can understand your feelings about work. I have been laid off for the last 6 weeks and I am not when I will be going back. My boss keeps saying "very soon", but I have serious doubts about it. I think that I will have to start seriously looking for something else.

Okay, I went home last night and sat at my desk. Opened the F-80, opened the MiG 15, looked at the parts, figured out what I needed to do paint-wise, and then called it a night. I'll get started on something tonight and I'll post some pics here next weekend. Sorry, I no longer have internet at the house because I was unable to pay the phone bill and they shut it off.

I have completed my entry in this GB. It is the Airfix, 1/72 kit of the Douglas F4D-1 Skyray with markings for Marine Fighter/Attack Squadron, VMFA-115. I made one major departure from reality by the using the earlier, overall dark blue paint job instead of the gray over white. VMFA-115 didn't convert over to the FORD until 1956, by which time, the NAVY had switched most of their planes to the new paint. I had the white decals and I really liked the blue, so I did it that way.
This plane is another of Ed Heineman's designs, in addition to the A-4 Skyhawk, A-3 Skywarrior and several other very successful designs.

Thanks guys, what should I do with the tracks? They are too small to connect around the road wheels, so I was going to make both sides look like they have been shot off. How should I weather them? Is it possible to display them without the tracks? I wanted to put it on a base with sand around it, would any of the above look good, be correct?

Thanks Anthony

Good work, Anthony14. I've seen footage of Iraqi T-55s in similar shape, and you hit the nail right on the head.
