Dave - the B-17 is my all time favorite bobmer and you are really doing it justice. I had an opportunity to see the Shoo Shoo Shoo Baby being restored at Dover Air Force Base back in 1985. They flew her to the Air Force Museum in Dayton and put her on display. I have probably 150 photos of that plane both inside and out if you need some input.

Thanks guys, Richard I would love a photo of the engines and one of the landing gear if its not too much trouble. Smile [:)] Hasegawa instructions are a little vague in these areas and haven't had time to look on line.

FINISHED..............Macchi MC-202 Folgore 1/48th scale from Tauro Models. This model is finished in the colors and markings of the aircraft on display at The Smithsonian. The only after market parts would be the seatbelts, the box provided just the basic detail for the engine, but I still like it. Lastly the covers and cowling dont fit together very well but I'll display it with them off.
Thanks for a GREAT GROUP BUILD YA'LL....Big Smile [:D]

Skarpotchi:
Nice looking build of a pretty rare bird. I love the detailing you did in the engine that you showed in an earlier post.
How did you shade the panel lines? And what did you use for the antenna wire? It looks a little heavy in the photos.
Great job!

Thanks dstrebe and wing_nut for the replies.

To answer your question dstrebe the antenna was made from stretched sprue which i got out of the box Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg], so i agree its too thick but it will work. The panel lines were molded WAY TOO wide for the scale. So i tried to scribe them deeper to make them look thinner.....it didnt work. So i just went over them once with a mechanical pencil and left it at that.

Looks great Skarpotchi. That's got to be one of the best looking planes of WWII and you really did it justice. Great job on the camo too.

It's a very blue day today, decals still didn't show up in the mail so I can't finish this weekend but hey, thanks to Joe I now have until the 14th WOHOO!!!

Another happy note is today was payday... you all know what that means Mischief [:-,].

Richard sent you an email but if you haven't sent them yet don't go through the trouble as I already assembled the engines and attached the landing gear legs. All she needs now are decals Sad [:(] and some weathering.

An extended deadline ? Bless you Joe Rugby Smile [:)].

Actually, my build is complete except for the antennae wires, but I hate rushing those. Will post some pics tomorrow.

AS advertized, here's my finished build. Actually completed with hours to spare on the original GB deadline. Had I known Joe was going to extend the deadline, I could have procrastinated for a few more days Smile [:)]. Kit was the excellent new Hasegawa 1/32 Ki-84 Hayate (Frank). Model depicts a Special Attack aircraft from 57 Shinbu-Tai, flown by Corporal Takano. Just prior to their suicide missions, the pilots were shown great respect by having their aircraft re-painted & adorned with the pilots choice of personal markings. This resulted in some of the most colorful & unusual aircraft seen in the Japanese arsenal. The white Kangi characters on the fuselage read "hitt-chin", roughly translated as "Be sure to sink". Enough gab, here's the pics.

I really enjoyed this GB. Lots of great models & modelers on display. A big Thank You to Joe for hosting this one. Great job Joe.

That is a great looking build Rick Bow [bow]. Very colourful markigs too, are they from the kit or did you use AM? You're right too about this being a great GB. There have been some great models here.

Rick: Nice work! And the background information about markings was news to me... I always learn something new in these forums (fora??). That's a good reason to look into doing otherwise-drab IJN planes now!

And bring on the next GB, Joe! You did a great job moderating this one.

Okay...you all asked for it and now you got it!

Same time frame in 2006...July 1 to October 1(or there aboutsSmile,Wink, & Grin [swg])

First Jets Out of the Box Group Build.

Shooting Stars, Me262 as well as the first jet to serve with any air force/service. So beside the common ones already mentioned you could do the first jet to serve with the RAF or the Soviet Air Force or even the Brazillian Air Force so on and so forth. Also, the first Marine Corps jet or the first RNAS jet as well. This should broaden the subject matter considerably.

Same rules to apply, IPMS guidelines. If it is PE and Resin it should be from the box the kit was originally purchased in.

Group Badge will be some time in coming...

Thanks Dave. The Special Attack aircraft are certainly more unusual than the average Japanese aircraft from this time period.

Joe. Sounds like a great idea for a GB. I personally don't build many stovepipes, but we'll see what's going on next year.

I know there is a kit of the Me262 prototype, multi media kit as well, has both the jets and propeller...so you would not technically be doing a jet...Smile [:)]
