Well I have moved along even if ever so slowly. The Rufe has been puttied, primed and painted. Now I have to touch up, paint the canopy, install the clear parts and then do a decale and dullcoat.

I'm on the home stretch Joe. I've got the Dornier painted and gloss coated. I'm masking the canopy today, and should start decaling and weathering soon. I used to think this plane looked ridiculous, but now it's growing on me.

BTW... you were asking about display cases..here's one I scored for free...got lucky! Wink [;)]

Great looking Dornier. Pre-shading? And how did you get the nice soft edges on your dead straight splinter lines? Or is that a hard edge and I just need new glasses?

Yes, I did preshade the entire model, and I also faded the panels with a lightened version of the base color. I used raised masks on the splinter so as not to get a ridge.

Dave,

A friend of mine owns an optical clinic and replaced the case with a bigger one. I donated a couple of builds that are displayed with aviator style sunglasses, and apparently sales are up. Got it for free.

Jerry Nice looking Pfeil, I have always loved that bird as weird as it is for some reason. I'm looking forward to seeing yours finished.

As for my build, I am very close to finishing my P51 for the North Africa GB so will concentrate on this one next. I've already assembled the cockpit and the wing assemblies and just have to mask a few windows before I close it up and put the wings on. Here's a couple of pics of the pit, just remeber that this is an 80's vintage kit (Hasegawa 1/72) and the detail is sparse to say the least. Oh well, I've done some test fitting and almost nothing will be visible once it's closed up anyway.

Jerry - great start on the Dornier.

Dave - the Pit is looking good.

NOW - the roof is on the Rufe. I finished it this morning and once again I have overall great compliments for Trumpeter models. This was one enjoyable build. I had lots of fun. Thanks to all for having me a part of this group build. Now here are the finals.
