A6efan, looks good so far. I prefer to use Alclad2 for BMF, but if you like doing foil that's the way to go Smile [:)].

Do you have room for one more? I have the Trumpeter A6M2 Zero and A6M2-N Rufe ready to build. If they are taken I have many other aircraft of that period.

Thanks,

Sure...there are already some Zero's in the mix how about the Rufe, your choice though...looking forward to getting a look.

Thanks Joe,

I will do the Rufe. Tomorrow I will go through the instructions and look at all the parts to decide on what to do first. I have found that the Trumpeter kits are many small kits of sub-assemblies that can be done and set aside until fuselage closure and final assembly. I am looking forward to this as it looks like a real nice kit. I will post progress photos as I go along. Now off to the web to research this machine.

The Rufe should be a good build Richard. Looking forward to your progress.

fightnjoe and A6Efan.......................Coming along very nicely, the both of you should be very proud, cant wait to see some more.

As for me here's what 9 days of hard work has produced. The first pic is the seat belt rigging before I put it in the pit, which I have not done yet. And the other pics are what you see...the engine and so on. The seat belt is a P.E. set from RCR Models out of Italy, and it come with enough belts to do (2) MC202 and (4) to do some other type of Italian a/c ( not sure it's all in Italian).
Enjoy.

Nice work Skarpotchi ! Keep them coming!

How is everyone else doing? The nice thing about this build is the time frame is long and gives you the chance to either put down the PE and resin or pick them up...

Interior has been painted and the halves are ready to close up...photos of the initial paint, primer/Lichtblau will be posted on Sunday evening (have to watch the Lions lose to the NZ Maori and play in an exhibition match myself on Sunday)

There has been some discussion on painting mottle. My AB is not exactly laser guided and I would like to try masks. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Nice work Skarpotchi!! Thumbs Up [tup]

I'm wishing my Hasegawa B-17 had a little more detail I assembled the interior and gave it a base coat of paint but there is not much detail painting to do. Most of it won't be seen anyway. will post some pics as soon as I can. I'm trying to finish up a Stuka for the Stuka GB and will be building my P-51 for the North Africa GB at the same time as this one (as this as they will be using the same paint colours) so progress will be slow.

Joe I'm a little jealous of your weekend plans. Hockey is the big thing here in Canada but they are too busy squabbling over how many millions of dollars they should be making. Oh well... leaves more time for building models.

I know what you mean...bit of a let down...the real challenge to this build at this point is restraining oneself from a nip here a tuck there or the "...if I could just add this it would be so much better..."

I am certainly looking forward to everyone's build...the real deal is going to come down to wringing out as much as you can given the relatively limited resources out of the box...

The cockpit of my Zero Rufe is just about finished as all I have to do is assemble the instrument panel and attach it. I should have photos sometime this weekend. Parts of the engine have been painted on the sprue so I will not have to try and paint small items and slop paint onto adjacent parts. So far, the parts fit is great and the instruction book is straight forward with good illustraitions.

Haven't made much progress. Got the cockpit basically assembled but not painted. I was a little concerned about the kit decals so I ordered one of the new Eagle Strike sheets. It arrived today & it's very nice. Will give my Frank a little more oomph.

Happy Birthday to my wife! Happy B-Day [bday]Party [party]Propeller [8-]She's finally in her 30s. Now I don't feel like a DOM. Mischief [:-,] And with her birthday came the digital camera I got her, and of course I immediately used it to provide an update on my Grumman XF5F-1 Skyrocket build for this group build.

I have a little more sanding to do, particularly on the seams where I've used Porc-a-fil (porcelain tile repair stuff). Man that stuff is much better than Squadron White putty. And looky there, the Alclad II is lining up for painting!

Finished the cockpit this morning and am starting assembly of the engine. Trumpeter has done a nice job with the detail inside the cockpit. No seat belts supplied so I used masking tape.

I'll have engine photos later in the week.

Greetings,

I finally finished some other projects, and am making a little progress on my P-40. Now that the pit is done, things should speed up.

Very nice work Dragonfly. The pit looks excellent. One small critique, the seat belts should drape over the bar on the frame the seat is mounted to. The Hasegawa instructions that show them draped over the seat back are incorrect.

Oh no!!!! I certainly didn't know that! I don't know if I can fix it now, cause I just closed the fuselage. I guess I'll give it a go. Many thanks to Hasegawa for steering me in the wrong direction. Thank's for the heads up Rick.

Ahhhh, sweet sucess. AllI had to do was coax the seat out, and it was an easy fix. Are there any more booby traps in this kit? Thanks again Rick!

cheers,

Jerry
