Thats a pretty good idea Sean, apparently if you spend $100:00 US or more on Squadron the postage is free, I can order the 219's cockpit for $25:00 US plus the academy Peashooter for another $25:00 and thats halfway.........It will still cost me $75:00 Au but i'll get the Peashooter as well as the Pit for the 219......

Cool.
I have to get the Big Ed set, and will do some searching for 'essential' items.

Probably a couple more PE sets I think, for the stashWink [;)]

Well, that figures.

It's still doable though.
I just found some detail sets for the AM P-51A I have.
Might have to bundle this lot upBig Smile [:D]

Yeah i'm still game Sean, if we split postage we'll still save money,do we go surface mail for 30% of the order or air for 50%Question [?]

Depends on how quickly we want our stuff.
Surface is usually 6-8 weeks. (They have VERY slow boats in the US)
Air usually takes 2 weeks.

If we get a total together, and if anyone else wants in, then I reckon air is the way to go.

Ahh.......(Inhales deeply)....I can smell the resin fumes from here, I love the smell of fresh AM goodies in the morning!Big Smile [:D]

Sean & Jules Would it be cheaper to buy it in the UK from Hannants, and have them ship it? Their catalogue is pretty much the same as Squadron's from what I can see, and shipping from the mother country might just be cheaper. Just a thought.

Think I'll just be going with the replacement ejector seat and wheels for my He 162, with a bit of added wiring etc, so it should be a 'simple' build. I'll save the AM fest for the Panther, if I get around to it. Unless of course Tamiya bring out a panther in 1/48 in the meantime.

Jules That He 219 is sure to be a stunner with the Verlinden AM stuff.

Sean Yeah i was leaning towards air, mainly because i'm inpatient and i hate waiting for orders to get here cause i want it now...........

Karl thats interesting i'll have a look at Hannants but i'm a little concerned that the Aussie dollar is only worth about 35pence at the moment but then again i do have family over there so maybe i can have an order shipped to my cousin and he can send it for what the actual postage is worth....
And I'm hopeing the 219 is going to be a stunner but after the Verlinden set and the Aires cockpit goes in it all depoends on the paintjob, if i stuff that up i stuff the whole thing..........

Jules - If you're doing an order from squadron, can you chuck a few things in for me? I could get the eduard PE set for the 410, and maybe a vacform canopy for it (I here the kit one doesn't fit too well). Let me know if you're going ahead with it.

Tanky - Yeah, I'm still up for the super-detail build. I might have to enter my 410 in both GB's if that's alright with you.

Jules don't forget when ordering from Squadron the price for shipping that they quote is an estimate only. I think the words they use are something like "shipping will calculated at the time of dispatch and will be the actual cost of shipping or half the order price, whichever is less."
I have ordered from Squadron a few times and have always found their shipping costs to be fine.

Tweets I have 4 sets of Johnnie Johnson decals actually. I have one for EN398 a Mk.IXb (the highest scoring spitfire of the war btw) which Johnson flew in the summer of 1943.
I have one for MK329 a Mk.IXe which Johnson flew in the summer of 1944. This is the famous "JEJ Jr" that was used to ferry beer kegs for Squadron parties.....kegs were held on hard points under the wing(s). This one has full invasion stripes.
I also have two sets for MK392 a Mk.IXe , one also from summer of 1944 with partial invasion stripes and one from January 1945 with standard Dark Green/Ocean Grey over Medium Sea Grey camo.
I was going to send you the one from 1945 purely because it fits the timeframe for the build.

All has anyone heard from Tom lately? I sure hope he wasn't affected by the last Hurricane to go through.

Cheers
Darren

Jules Check out www.smmodels.com . They are the best in Aus for getting detail sets that I have found. They have the Aires He 219 super detail set listed for $56 and I think it is in stock. If not, they'll order it in for you and you won't have to pay the shipping from the US........

BTW, the detail sets are in the Accesories section on the website.Thumbs Up [tup]

Yeah Daniel I checked with SMM first and i saw the Aires detail set but unfortunatly it is out of stock.............
Sean & Daniel if your interested in grabbing a few things from squadron make out a list and email it to me and i'll order it but i will have to wait until Friday week until i can pay some money of the credit card, there's no way on gods green earth the Evil [}:)]missusEvil [}:)] will let me pilfer the savings account to buy more model crap as she calls it so i'll have to wait until next payday before i spend it all on models AgainTongue [:P]

Darren shame about the MK329 decals, the invasion stripes would have looked a treat.

Question for the group-I'm considering doing a piece of armor also for this build. Probably a Tamiya Tiger (late) or Panther (late). I'm assuming both fit the time frame-bigger issue/concern is camo scheme & numbering. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Bob I was thinking of ordering this:

Osprey http://www.osprey-publishing.co.uk/title_detail.php/title=S5430~ser=NVG~per=

Squadron cover the Panther in 'In Action' series, but I've, not been overly impressed with these books in the past, so thought I'd give the Osprey book a go.

However I did find this on Amazon;

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0711029415/102-7316886-2384912?v=glance

As well as this lot:

http://www.motorbooks.co.uk/search.asp?action=go&searchfor=panther+tank

Think I feel a post on the DarksideEvil [}:)] coming on!

Sounds like everybody has their stuff pretty well thought out. I think my FW190-D9 is going to be one of the minority, undetailed with only the decals AM.

I haven't heard from Tom lately either but just before the hurricane there was a thread in the odds n ends talking about it and Tom posted a bunch. Sounds like he was going to get it full blast. I suspect we won't be hearing from him anytime soon.

Jay My build(s) will be pretty much out of the box as well. I have a Meteor MKIII and a Me 262 (both 1/72) but if I still have time I have an old Ar 234 C with a buzz bomb that I'd like to use as a guinea pig to try my hand at some scratch building and panel line etching. Gotta keep pushing the frontiers of my skills. Tongue [:P]

As for Tom, I've seen him post in a couple of places, on the North Africa GB but mostly on the odds & ends "barrel of a hurricane thread. He did alright but a tree landed on his roof, rolled off and took out his A/C in his modeling room. I'm sure he'll be back posting here as well soon.

I don't think Kremps is a good substitute for an AC though. Laugh [(-D] Not cooling anywayWink [;)].

Jules If you're doing the order from squadron, I'll get you to add:

Eduard PE set for Me 410B-1 (code EU48243)- $13.46
Eduard Express mask for Me-410 (code EUXF012)- $5.46

and seeing as though I'm adding that much to the kit, I might as well go the whole hog and add the CMK resin control surfaces set (code CZ 4006)-$11.96

This 410 is gonna be very heavy with all that resin in it........

Let me know when you get it and I'll send you some currency......Thumbs Up [tup]

BTW, I'll send this to your email adress too in case you don't see it (does that mean I'm talking to myself?).

Darren which decals are these?
I really want to do a Spit in invasion stripes and detail it with PE and Resin so I'll save all my bits for that one and get another Hase kit, and just do OOB for this GB.

Rather than ransack your stuff I might just get the decal set if it's still available

Jules I'll put a list together of the stuff I want, price it up and get the money to you before you asap

Tweets no probs at all and I agree the invasion stripes really do look cool on a Spit. The decal set I use for just about all of my Spitfires is Aces of the Empire by Victory Productions, here's a link to a review

http://modelingmadness.com/scotts/decals/vpd48006.htm

The offer on those Johnnie Johnson decals is still open if you can't get hold of anything else.

Bob the late Panther (I think it's a G model) or a late Tiger would be great for the build. I know that Bison Decals and Archer Fine transfers both do decals for these tanks. Can't help you with the camo though, that might need a bit more research.

PanzerWulff I know what you mean those new DML kits are jammed packed with "AM" goodies. Good idea with Kremps btw, she has been lazing around for far too long, it's time to put her to work.

Cheers

Take a sheet of white paper, fold equally along the centre...........you know the rest.

Just draw some BA markings on the side, she'll never know the difference.Wink [;)]

Bob Had a look at the Osprey book on Amazon, looks pretty good, here's the link that lets you take a look inside:
