Welcome back Jules. Nice work on the Emils.

Sean, the landing gear on the late Spits was unpainted natural metal.

Regards, Rick.

Tanky, ok I'll change your build to the La-7.

Karl, I know exactly what you mean, I've been pricing up some bits and pieces for a tank I want to build (some day) and ouch Shock [:O] those armor guys must have big modeling budgets.

I also agree that testing basic post and edit functions across the major available browsers is not to much to ask before signing off and going to production Disapprove [V]. At work I would be hung drawn and quartered for not at least doing that before an app goes live. If they didn't have the browsers available I'm sure you would have had an avalanche of willing volunteers here on the forum who would have been happy to test. What am I talking about, that's what we are doing now isn't it, only we are using the big test environment (production).

Bob, thanks for the suggestion mate it's a great idea that I saw Jules do for the NAGB and I was going to pic it up here as well. With the BoBGB I started downloading everybody's builds to my local HD so that I could create a Photobucket album for them. I will try and follow through on the idea for this build though.

Jules welcome back Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup], I was wondering where you had been hiding. Nice job on your 109's, I'll be looking forward to checking our Black 8 it looks great from what I can see of it so far though.

Sean the landing struts for Spits usually bare metal.

Daniel yeah that's cool, do you want me to update you on page 1 with a D-13?

Cheers

Sad [:(]err...uh...as much as I would like to take credit for the suggestion (and believe you me, I could use the credit today....) it wasn't mine. Maybe Jay's? But maybe I can get a rain check on the credit? Big Smile [:D]

Darren - Righto then, I'll do the D-13 for this build too. It's the Revell kit, which is a re-boxing of the Tri-master/Dragon D-9 kit with some extra bits to make it a D-11. There's still alot of work to do on it.

Tweets Definatly natural metal on the landing gear mateThumbs Up [tup]

Darren Yeah black eight came out OK but there is a couple of spots that i'm not happy with, I certainly learned what i needed to know about small spots so i'm feeling pretty confident taking on the camo scheme that will go with the HE 219......

Darren It's a shame dragon don't do a Panther G, as at least that would come with PE and indy tracks! That really would have softened the blow. I think I'm looking at around £90 ($170) for this Panther including reference materials, PE, tracks etc, I've never spent that much on a single build before!!!

As for the browser testing, Kalmbach are obviously using the 'as if by magic' approach to testing and implementation. I've seen quite a few PMs try it where I work. Poor fools!

This is pants by the way, as I have no emoticons to play with!!

Dave I'm typing this on a Mac, and we went OS 10 Panther a few months back. It made a big difference, except to this forum now they've changed it! You might find you have to upgrade your memory as well, I know we had to.

Karl... Thanks for the input. I just hate the long slippery slide called upgrading. Once you start it just keeps going. Speaking of money, I hope that panther of yours can actually fire its weapon for that price. LOL!

Dave, I found an awful lot of things worked better after upgrading to OS10 Panther, not least the Ipod shuffle I bought my wife for her birthday, which wouldn't work at all on the old version of OS10 we were running at the time. Like the Tamiya Panther, that little gift cost me much bigger than expected! Worth it though.

No prob Darren, and thanks for pointing it out Bob. I like the idea of down loading the pics to a photobucket account. Did you eventually make one for the BoB 2005 GB?

It was originally painted in the standard RLM 74/75/76 camo, but it looks like the Russians painted over the markings with a dark green colour and painted all the undersurfaces black (like the FW190 I built a while ago if anyone remembers). Just gotta find some big red star decals. I'll post a profile soon.

I found the decals I mentioned earlier.

Woo Hoo, everybody now has some sort of bubble type things under their Avatar, so now I can finally (and happily) dump my stars!

Has anybody noticed that since the upgrade things have been a little on the slow side (number of people posting) around here. I guess it's to be expected until the numbers of users build up again.

Jay, I got lazy with the collection of images for the BoB GB and quit doing it about halfway through the build. This time however I'll follow through and post everybody’s builds up to a public Photobucket account.

Karl you're right about a DML panther, these days they don't leave much more in the way of AM to buy when you get one of their newer kits. I have the old DML Night Fighting Panther G, but it straight styrene with no extra goodies.

Jules those spots are a challenge but are really rewarding when you look back your kit. I think you've really had a great idea in using the 109 as a warm up to He 219. Better of to make your mistakes on a cheaper kit that's not full of resin and PE.

:::Progress Report::: (Not Really)

I ordered the Eduard color PE set for the Trump 262 the other day and the GMW site tells me it should be in stock on the 17th Nov. That should arrive nicely in time for the kick-off date and just before the Xmas rush.

If i've learned from fellow modelers- never trust greatmodels. I have personally had good service from them- but others have horror stories to relate.

Until recently I had good service from them... if I had to wait it is because I didn't read the "Special Orders" sticker... this time though I bought some Bf110 nightfighter decals that listed as in stock... the order status said looking for/reissue, a few days later the site turned to "Special Order" so I guess they thought they had em and couldn't find them... oh well, it won't stop me from ordering totally from them.

Oh yeah... my official build for this is the Dragon King Tiger... finishing up on an M-41 right now and kinda dig this armor thing! I'll do the S-100 for the Battle of the Atlantic...

I vote for the green and blue stripy one. Makes the already slightly ridiculous looking Martlet even more clown like!

Tom I know what you mean about the 'armour' thing. I'm considering asking Santa for Dragon's early Tiger 1, might save it for the next NAGB!

Darren Things have felt a little slow since we switched to the new forum, doesn't help half the functionality doesn't work at home on the MacSad [:(]

And I thought rankings were supposed to be passe?

Karl there's nothing wrong with balls or balloons or whatever the heck they are, it's just that people like Rick and Tom are already fully inflated with nowhere to go Big Smile [:D]

Tom and Tanky I've always had good service as well from Great Models. The PE set I ordered is brand new and was in stock when I ordered it but I'd say they must have sold out and are waiting for a new shipment to arrive. I've only ever made the mistake of ordering something marked as Special Orders once and I won't be doing that again in a hurry.

Cheers

Rick - oooooooooohhhh... Where did you pick up that sheet at? I HAVE to get that!!!! I agree, the green and blue stripy one is all that!!! but the nose art is nice on them!

Jules - It just shows I am full of it! (the dots thing)

Karl - yeah I feel a few more armor pieces coming on. IT was nice not to worry about the paint being exact on line, if I scuffed the sides while sanding it just made it look more real haha... The best part was the 4 bars of pastels consumed in weathering it! Wink [;)]

Would that be the 'shite' thing again?

I'm waiting on the Tamiya Panther to turn up in the post, along with the AM goodies. I really enjoyed doing the Semovente for the NAGB, as like you say, armour builds are little less exacting, except on your wallet!

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got the resin cockpit set from Legend Productions for my Academy La-7. I opened the package, and my jaw is probably somewhere in Tiannenmen Square it dropped so far. I thought the detail on Aires cockpit sets were amazing (and they are) but this makes Aires looks like they make resin moulds of cockpits released by Frog back in the 1970's. It is truly amazing. Each sidewall has approximately 10 resin pieces to add to it on top of the great moulded in detail. Only minus is that the instrument panel has no instrument faces, only bezels, and that the superbly detailed gunsight unfortunately has the reflector sight moulded on to it in resin, creating a tough situation to fix. In short by this cockpit set! Even if you don't have the kit!Big Smile [:D]
