From what I understood, I thought it was going to cover anything used after D-Day. That can be considered as when the battle for Germany started I suppose. I had my Me-410 scheme picked out for a late 1944 aircraft, but if it's not alright, I'll change it. I'll see what Darren says......

From the Russian perspective I suppose it started after they kicked the German's out of Stalingrad! My 2 cents [2c]

This Battle of Germany GB sounds interesting. Is it possible for me to join in on this GB? There are quite a few people here--do you have room for one moreShy [8)]?

Sean

Sean there's always room for one more, welcome to the build. Do you have any thoughts on the kit you are considering for this?

All Ok, my interpretation of this build is probably a little looser than Karl’s but not much. What I had in mind with this build was to focus on the events of 1945 at the conclusion of the Battle of the Bulge (ie, from Jan 1st onwards) in NW Europe and particularly on Germany itself. What Karl has said is correct though, units that were not involved in attacking or defending Germany itself would not be included, however they didn’t need to have set foot in (or fly over) Germany to be included.

For instance an RAF Lancaster operating out of the UK but on missions over Germany is definitely in.

A Finnish Bf 109 G6 is not (sorry Tom)

The action involving US Pershings and the capture on March 7th 1945 of the Luddendorff railway bridge across the Rhine River is in.

Soviet units capturing Warsaw in Poland are not

I hope this helps a bit everybody and clears up any confusion.

Chris By my calendar there's only 23 days to go Big Smile [:D]

---Edit---

Oops forgot to mention something just to cloud the ‘is it in’ or ‘is it out’ issue. The Eagle Cal decals that I’ve ordered just list the aircraft as being captured at Munchen-reim in 1945. I’ve no idea Munchen-reim is but it sounds German enough for me.

As for you guys doing armor, there is no way I’m going to even try and figure out where the heck the 51st Groobenschtafen Panzer was actually based in 1945.

So what I’m trying to say is that it’s up to you as to how much research you want to do about your actual subject.

There, clear as mud Big Smile [:D]

Okay then, tell me if this is allowed..... A Me-410B-2 captured by the Russians and used in the campaign against Germany during 1945. It was originally painted in the standard RLM 74/75/76 camo, but it looks like the Russians painted over the markings with a dark green colour and painted all the undersurfaces black (like the FW190 I built a while ago if anyone remembers). Just gotta find some big red star decals. I'll post a profile soon.

Darren Thanks for the clarification, I'm certain Leck where my He 162 was based is in Northern Germany, as for the Panther...........

.........research is required I think!

Munchen Reim was the main 262 base for Southern Germany, being a few miles outside the Bavarian state capital Munich. Now if you look out the left window of the coach.........

Daniel Now that is truly FRINGE!!!!!!!!

Thumbs Up [tup] of course it is, and sounds like a cool build too, I'm looking forward to seeing the profile.

I don't know what to say....... I'm actually building something that Karl considers fringe. Here's the profile, should make for an interesting model.

BTW, anyone have some spare Red Star decals they could spare? Might have to paint them because I've never built a Ruski plane yet. Can't wait for this one to start now.

Actually I think I have a whole sheet of decals I was going to use on a Mig 29 Fulcrum, but I loath jets (even though the Fulcrum is wickedBig Smile [:D]) (but the Su-35 is waaaaaaay coolerCool [8D]) let me dig around and I'll try and find em for ya.

OK, I didn't mean to cloud the GB with techicalities (speeelin?) but I was a bit lost as to the exct time frame and build creep.

I was thinking of modifiying my G-3 FW190 into a A-6 (wouldn't take much cept 2 extra barrels and 2 blisters) to represent 'White 2 of 4/SG 2 that surrendered at Kitzingen May 8 1945, providing I can find the right camo scheme and colours for the aircraft.
This will prove difficult, so a little creative thinking might be in order. Within reason of course.
What ya reckon Darren?

It's not if I consider it fringe, it's Tom you want to worry about!

Good then my FW-190-D9 is in. I've got a decal sheet with 5 different schemes, 3 from operation Bodenplatte and the other two from Feb 1945.Smile [:)]

Darren-thanks for the clairification. Based on that, the Russian Liberation Army bf109g is out-time to go looking for other decal options. Shouldn't be a problem. Interesting history behind the Russian Liberation Army though.

The Marder III is another story. Markings are for a unit in the Nethelands in 1945-might just save this kit for 'rainy day'....maybe Rick's "Eastern Front" GB in 2007....(just kidding RickWink [;)] )

Place looks pretty good, but methinks not everything is running fully smooth.  For one, I can't get my sig tag to load.  Oh well, all will work out eventually.

Rick I can see your sig tag without any problems, but I agree they still seem to be ironing out some wrinkles but that is to be expected.

One thing I do miss is the ability to be able to reply to a thread and at the same time see the current page worth of responses while I'm composing my response, rather that only being able to view the specific post you are replying too. I know that sounds confused but I hope you understand what I mean.

By the way Rick, did you get an email notifying you that the forum was back up, because I didn't.  I was wondering if the others are waiting for notification before re-registering.

Cheers

Yeah, the sig tag is now working.  I had to remove some text & that seemed to solve it.  As for the email, yes. I did recieve one & it included a temporary code for news stand buyers.  I didn.t re-register until after the email.

Oh suuuure... it's all TOMS's fault when it comes to fringe... I just decided I am only building P-51's and P-47's and Bf109's from now on... Oh yeah!!! and ALL the 109's will have the spiral nose even thought they were dated well BEFORE D-day!!!  just to show yall!

Actually the S-100 is out then, it was captures by the Societs off the coast of Norway... not in the mood to build a tank...   I'll have to sort through my box of Fringe and see what I come up with!

(And it's NOT my fault everyone builds fringe now!!!  it's a birth defect I tell ya!)

Tom Who started the 'Fringe' thing?

Exactly!

Anyway, I like to think of 'Fringe' as a Usual Suspects aberrationSmile [:)] A sort of defining feature, like webbed fingers, or being cross eyed!

Could you not do a German S-100 as the Kriegsmarine was active in both the Baltic and the North Sea up until the very last days of the war?

BTW it's just taken me 5 minutes to work out how to post!!!!!! Hey! I just work in IT, it doesn't mean I know anything!Whistling [:-^]

Tom it’s good to see you back on board again.  I wonder when all the others will finish re-upping

Um, the 'Fringe' thing would be my bad.Ashamed [*^_^*]

Started way back in the first Aussie GB with my 6 month effort on a CAC Avon Sabre.

Come to think of it, that was also the the birth place of the 'Usual Suspects', and Tom's rapid (rabid) hair lossWink [;)]

The Kremps thing is all Jules' fault (sorry mate, they woulda found out anyways)

I pulled out my 262 tonight to sniff the styrene and read the instructions and I really had a close look at the fuselage and wings.  AAAACCCKKK, this thing's huge, I think I'll have to clear off the entire top of one of the filing cabinets just to display it.

Hey only three (ish) weeks to go Thumbs Up [tup].

Just did the exact same thing... drooling over it ofr a few minutes.  At about 17 inches in length and span "huge" only begins ot describe it.

I found a 10 page build review of the kit that will be helpful in pointing out the rough spots.

Be careful sniffing styrene.  Can become highly addictive & leave big holes in ones pockets Smile [:)].

I just got the acdemy 1/48 La-7 kit. How is it? I know it could be better, but to spruce it up i got the legend productions cockpit set, which looks really nice. I'm gonna do a little scratch work too, but other than that, straight OOB. (although i suppose resin cpkcpit/ scratchwork kinda disqualifies it from OOB...Wink [;)] Any problems I should look out for?

How many of you are nauseated/blinded by the color of my post? Oh, and BTW yes I am in school...

Blllllluuuuuuugh!!!!!!

Pushes waste bin back under desk.

What a disgusting colour! Are you aiming to work in Martketing or something!

Looks like we're all doing the same thing. I had the decals for the He162 out of the bag at the weekend, and realised that they are incorrect when compared with photos of the real machine I'm going for! Thank God for research.

Karl

EDIT can't spell.

Bleecchh! what the h e double hockey sticks is that Tanky, change the colour before our retinas get forever burned!  I tried the different colours thing too and found good ol' black is best...

So all, what is the general feeling of the new home?
