That was how he explained wearing leather pants and bondage gear to work last year!

The boss just isn't going to buy that a second time.

Actually after thinking about it I think my boss would just shake her head and turn around and go back to work... she already thinks I am a bit touched... (you have to be to work in IT)

I do like the mid life crisis thing... bleach the hair, start unbuttoning my shirts to the navel. Lots of gold jewelry around the neck.

Anyone have any good shots of a European based Fi-56? the only shots I have found are all of desert planes and such. Just wondering if they were all lichtgrau or did some of them have camo etc...

Question for the supreme god of this GB Darson: I have a revell 1/72 fw-190 i'd like to do for this build, but the markings I have say "late 1944", would that be applicable within the constraints of this GB? Or is it too early?

As the start date finally draws near, YIPPIE, I have decided on the marking for my 1/24 190D-9. I was toying with this idea and I am going to go with it. I am going to do the exact same thing in this scale that I did in 1/48… Gelbe 6 with a big tail conversion.

I got an email from Bob Stephenson (The Würger Mechanic) after he saw the build article that went up on the Testor’s site. From what I can see on the net he is the guy that made the master for the Eagle Parts 1/48 resin conversion tail. He pointed out a couple of things that I did not do so I am itching to do it again and get it right. And as long as I have a D-9 in the very near future, and this was meant to be a warm build for this GB anyway, I figured there is no better time. So if all goes according to plan… this is what the 1/24 guy will look like, just with a better tail, thanks to Bob.

Definitely go for the white melamine. Shows off the models much better than the wood. Smile [:)]

Nah, save the Earths natural resources and use a badger coated plastic shelfWink [;)]

Fleasmight be a problem, but if you bui;d in 1/72 scale you could pass them off as ground crew!Tongue [:P]

If badgers are rare in your area, then leave a plate of Kremps's Borsch out in the sun for a day.
Then you can plane it like wood, but it's strong as concrete!!
(And after 6 months the smell will fade also)

Apparently Ikea now do Borscht shelving, it's call 'Arrgh' or something like that.

You can either shelve with it of eat it, or just eat the off cuts. That little deal has made madam Kremps a pretty penny I can tell you!

well here we are nearing December and I still haven't commited firmly to a build. All this talk of fringe has my mind wandering again... I'll have to look into what I can find that is off the wall for this...

I think I did read somewhere that the Russians siezed a Schnellboot and turned it into a MTB for a bit, then later as a transport... I'll see if I can find that..

MMMM...fringe....MMMM....beer...MMMMM....donuts.... er pardon me, Homer moment.

Marc (wing_nut) Mind if I join in the "Battle for Bigger Shelf Space?" I've got a half built shelf in my garage I've been slowly constructing! Laugh [(-D] I really should devote some time to finish it as I have no more space right now for anymore models! I built it as a two shelf wallhanger the top one is for 1:72 and the bottom in for 1:48. Once it is built I'll have space for about 10 more models. That should do me until the end of next year... I hope!Tongue [:P]Wink [;)] I'm really itching to get at my FW-190, Dec 1 can't come quick enough for me!

Any of you people ever buy a kit that's so drop dead amazing you have to drop however many projects you have on the bench and start and finish it through? Such is the case with the Andrea Miniatures Freedom's Ride figure. I will probably drop my T-90 conversion and su-27 w/ eduard PE just so I can start up on it.

The motorcycle offers some nice opportunities for wiring detail, and the entire subject just calls for some sort of "stand out" presentation on a base... I'm thinking maybe the base with figure/motorcycle in the middle, surrounded on 3 sides by images from the great escape. what do you guys think?

The label on the base would be cut directly out of the DVD cover title page.

The only gripe I have with the kit is that Andrea has no business charging 75$ for the thing...

Sounds great Tanky... the only thing you would have to watch for is by using the DVD cover you couldn't display it in a show... unless you got permission from the film company... (ok, yes we are going over copyright law at work again haha)
On the other hand if the motorcycle is of a specific type and is marked such, then you could probably get away with their logo on the base as you have already purchased a license to use that logo with that kit, and that kit only. (actually Andrea would have, so it is inclusive with the kit)

I've been dallying with the idea of trying some figures... Hobby Lobby is starting to carry figures... they have sets intended for doing dio's... they had a set for a certain civil war dio I saw this weekend, one for a Revolutionary war dio and I believe some Normandy troopers type thing... I am sure they are not of great quality but it might be fun to play with without investing a lot of money right away...

*edit* - I don't know why hit edit... I just did...

If anyone is lacking for Badgers I am sure the people in my area would love to ship you as many specimens of the exotic Nutria as you could stand! Funny thing is, a nutria coat sells for about $3,000 in NY, in Washington DC one of the larger natural habitat cages is for a solitary nutria... down here there are so many of the things eating up the marshes, thereby driving local flora and fauna elsewhere we try to run over the durn things... Some wise guy tried to smuggle a few dozen into the area as the habitat was similar to where they lived in China.. next thing you know they have a population in the 100,00's of thousands and they are paying people $5 a nutria to shoot them... I found out at the Nat'l Zoo in DC that the Nutria is now endangered in China where they originated... maybe I can start shipping them back one at a time...

yeah, I refined my idea a bit. in my thinking, there's no way to make the box look decent on the outside witht he 3 pictures method, so I'm goign to go for just one picture in the background. This one:

Then the base with the motorcycle just in front of it, and an etched brass plate that reads "Freedom's Ride" in the lower left corner.

I beleive that the Russians also siezed some FW 190 D9's and pressed them into service Tom, I have a pic somewhere around here but i can't remember where....

Tom The Russians also had a habit of re-using Panthers:

http://members.tripod.com/~dietmagic/panther2.html

See the pic at the very bottom of the page.

I've also got a profile of a captured 106 G6 in white winter camo with red stars following capture.

Feel that fringe!

page not found Karl... actually you gave me a great idea. they have the Dragon T-34 down at Hobby Lobby... if they have another sale soon great, but regardless I might get it and do it in German garb.

here's a look at one of the ones I've seen... this one was found in a bog... the Germans drove it in there when it was running low on fuel...
