So lets see, so far next year there is this BoG GB, a BoB2 and a NA2 as well as the Atlantic and the Aces GB (not to overlook the Aussie build too)! Sounds like a full schedule already for 2006. Any ideas for 2007?Clown [:o)]Clown [:o)]Clown [:o)]

Karl Jay(jboutin) is in charge of the Aces GB which I think he said he would run in the middle of the year.

As for the Atlantic GB I know I had made some comments earlier which may not have been appropriate. The idea originated way back in the NA GB and I can't remeber who started it. I asked in this GB about a month ago if there was still interest and next thing I know I'm planning it. My apologies to whoever originated the idea.

So lets see we have BoG GB, BoB GB2, NA GB2, BotA GB, Allied Aces GB and our Annual Aussie GB for 2006 that makes 6, maybe that will do for the year or we will all overcommit ourselves and "Kremps" will be increasing our MedsThumbs Up [tup]

As for 2007, Hmmm A Luftwaffe Top Guns GB would be cool especially coming off the Allied Aces GB....Whats more there is a weatlh of subjects and even a few cool Fringe Builds >>>>cough cough>>>>>CONDOR LEGION such as Molders 109 or even Gallands Biplane Henshcel was itQuestion [?] ground attack A/C.....

I was thinking this morning that if everybody has to re-register for the new forums and you don't have to take the same user ID. Apart from maybe 10 usual suspects that I know by name, I will have no idea who is actually in this build Sad [:(].

Jules you're spot on with the timing I had in mind for BoB II GB. I'm planning to post the topic on April 1st with a kick-off date of May 1st 2006. I like the timing of six months-ish so the end of the build will be Oct 31st, which also happens to the date the BoB concluded.

Tom, you won't believe it but I actually pulled out the Wildcat on the weekend and made some progress on my Midway build, ooops wrong forum Tongue [:P].

Tanky you're build has been noted and posted on page 1.

Cheers

Thanks Jules you're too kind!! Blush [:I]

My thought was to give this one (BoG) a two month head start and start the Battle of the Atlantic Feb. 1, 06 to the end of July! How does that sound to everyone? That way it straddles the BoG and the BoB2. If ending in the middle of summer when some people (RickQuestion [?]) are golfing is a problem we can extend it. Some of you Uboat builders may need extra time anyway if you start slapping all the AM stuff on.

Darson I do believe we get to keep our user names or at least have the option to so hopefully most of us will still be recognizeable. I also checked the front page just now and you have me down for a JU 388 for my second build. It should be a Meteor Mk. III

Tanky That Ju 290 is a great kit. I've got it lined up for the BotA so hopefully you'll iron out all the wrinkles for me ahead of time Wink [;)].

Well that looks like 2006 is all mapped out!

I was in my LHS at the weekend, you know, as you so often are, and I noticed Airfix's Kriegsmarine set in 1/400 scale. See link below:

http://www.shipmodels.co.uk/660_1_1667258.html

An entire Battle of the Atlantic GB in a box!

wow Karl! that looks nice... and at 1/400, the S-boot has 117 pieces!!! that's gotta be some detail! My 1/72 S-boot has about 200 pieces and is still a bit daunting in places due to large fingers and small parts! I can imagine this one would be a hard build but have some good detail..

Wow lots of GB's to choose from! I'm not sure what I can do or not do.

For the Allied aces GB I was thinking of announcing it this December and have it starting April and continuing for 6 months? Does that sound okay it would kind of go the same time as the BATO GB? Tongue [:P]

I've got a kit for the BoG (fw-190d9), BoB2 (bf-110c/d), I have to get my kit for the Allied Aces GB (Spit Mk9). I also really like the Idea of a Luftwaffe Top Guns GB right after the Allied Aces GB! count me in for that one, oops now I gotta figure out another kit! Hmm, Galland's emil sounds about right... or Wilheim Hergets BF-110g. Cool [8D]

Hey what about the build we are taking over, the WW2 Carrier Aircraft GB? I'm in for that one too and I remember seeing Karl, Jules and Tom putting in for builds on that one. (if there is any one else in that build I forgot to mention, sorry)

Man do I want to do one for the NA2 build so bad, I missed out this last summer and now I've got the perfect idea too - James Edwards P-40 (Canadian with 15.5 victories with RAF 94) I dunno about the BATO build though, not sure what I would do? I've only built a few ships, anyone know of a good escort destroyer kit that would have a Canadian subject? or maybe a Liberator? We'll see, so much to do, so little time...

Tom, I have no idea what you mean by "between" GB's , they all blend into one! Maybe we should just creat a group and call our selves "the usual suspect GB" and have it going all year round! hmm.. should someone make up a "usual suspects" badge?Wink [;)]Laugh [(-D]

Jay Those dates for the Aces GB sound okay to me as long as you give lots of time before the deadline to be able to work in several group builds as needed.

As for Canadian subjects for the battle of Atlantic the Canadians used the Corvettes and by 1943 Frigates. I'm not aware of any kits of the Canadian made frigates but as i'm sure you know there is the 1/72 Revell corvette. Big project that one and probably not suitable for a GB unless you do it OOTB which would be a shame given all the AM aavailable for it. Academy/Minicraft does a good 1/72 Liberator and Canadians also used B-17's as well as the Hudson's and Sunderlands for submarine patrol. Plenty to choose from.

Jay I'd forgotten about the Carrier Aircraft GB! Might go all 1/72 for that one.

Dates for the Allied Aces GB sound good. I think we need a GB calendar!!!!! I know I will or I'll lose track of what I'm supposed to be doing when.

I never realised the Canadians had so many aircraft, was it one of each type??Wink [;)]

Just kidding.

Stop throwing things.....

Congratulations [b]Jay[b] having a child is certainly a huge change in lifestyle but it's all worth itThumbs Up [tup] especially after having waited for so long............

Oh Yeah BTW I only mentioned the Codor legion for the fringe builders amongst us and the fact that it would be acceptable to do a Condor legion A/C in the Luftwaffe top guns GB provided it was flown by an ace....I also think that considering the Luftwaffe didn't give their fighter pilots "Ace Status" until they had acheived 10 victories that any model built for the Luftwaffe Top Guns GB should have 10 or more victory bars on her....

Oh Yeah all those dates for the 2006 Gb schedule sound Cool to me but i may need a little more time with the U-Boat if i get bogged down but i'll worry about that when the time comes.....

Congratulations Jay Party [party]Party [party].

Life will never ever be the same again, I'll let you find out how.Wink [;)]

If you're going for a May baby, try and go for late May. My youngest son is a Gemini, very well behaved, not like all those charging Taureans. He's like my wife, who is also a Gemini, neither of them ever shut up though!

As for that chart, we all know Excel is GREY! Colour is for Marketing and HR, not IT!

Tom I'm not buying the 'good child' thing, the thought of you behaving yourself just doesn't seem possible!

Now me, I was well behaved!

Congratulations Jay-being a father can be the toughest job & the best job ever, both at the same time.

On the subject of the Atlantic GB, would not planes that flew off of Atlantic carrier decks, i.e., Avengers, Wildcats (Tom-that's kinda like a Martlet Wink [;)] ), on anti-sub patrol not be included?

Bob, I thought that aircraft would be included in a BOTA GB. They certainly took part that's for sure. I was planning on pulling out my AM TBF-1C Avenger in a Nth Atlantic camo scheme.

Dave I sure do get breaky in bed on fathers day. The only downside is that I have to happily eat whatever my two girls decide to make for me Dead [xx(]

Karl, No No No. I live for color, I was going to plot out a Gantt chart for all the GBs for next year in MS Project, all in color. Then I could have a critical path in red yeah and then I could have a ..... Tongue [:P]

Jules with the Luftwaffe aces GB, can you depict an aircraft that was flown by someone who was going to become an ace, or did they have to be an ace at the time they were flying that aircraft if you know what I mean?

Thanks for the support Marc, Rick, Tom, Dave, Darren, Jules, Karl and Bob. April (my wife) and I are very happy. My parents are also bouncing off the walls. Ours will be number 4 or 5 in the grandkids but since it is our first, that much more exciting! I say # 4 or 5 because my older sister is also pregnant with her 3rd and she and April are due approximately the same week!Shock [:O] May 2006 is going to be one crazy month!

I'm not sure about the breakfast in bed thing, I'll probably be run ragged helping out and getting stuff for a nursing wife!Black Eye [B)]Smile [:)]
