strangely enough Karl I was rather shy growing up... somwhere about 8th grade (12 or 13yrs old?) I decided it wasn't getting me a girlfriend or even friends any faster and I became more outgoing... somehow I forgot to stop!

Atlantic Of course aircraft are included. Anything that flew over, sailed on or under the Atlantic is included. That includes carrier borne aircraft and land based. But I suppose that brings up the discussion of where to draw the line. He 111's that opporated out of Norway would be included because they attacked convoys headed for Russia. What about more coastal aircraft like the Beaufighter, they were instrumental in sinking tons of Axis shipping? Or coastal ships (MTB's or S boats). I would like to hear what everyone's thoughts are on this.

Alex Nice Kitty!

Jules got the package today.
Thanks, but you really didn't have to mate, muchly appreciatedCool [8D]
Now I can do BOTH the E4 and 7Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]
Mind you Eduard messed up, instead of placing a normal PE fret AND a colour fret in the Big Ed kit, they put 2 normal jobbies in there, so I don't have the colour PE set to suit the SpitSad [:(]Sad [:(]
Just my luck to get the dodgy PE.
Must have been pacled on a FridayDisapprove [V]

Darren I also got your decals today. Thanks heaps!!Smile [:)]
You wouldn't happen to have the overhead view of those Spits?
I'm curious as to what the camo is on the wing tops etc.

Dave, I say any aircraft flown or used by coastal command would be valid. That would include the beaufighter, hudson, blenheim, even mosquito in the later stages. BTW what time period are we going to shoot for in the historical sense, the entire duration of the war or from a certain period on. I think we should go for the duration of WW2 as the battle started right away once England declared war and didn't really stop until Germany surrendered.

Just a quick question before I say yay or nay. Must they be new models or can I use my just started Willys Jeep and bike that's been hanging around for the past 3 years? If so I'm in, if not I'm on a maybe.

As for the Atlantic GB, I vote we go from September 3rd 1939 to May 8 1945, that way we should get a fair spread of subjects.

Tigertankman I was looking at that kit in my LHS at the weekend, looks very nice, especially with all the PE and 'Magic' tracks.

My mom can be really nice sometimes.... look what she got me for a present:

http://www.squadron.com/ItemDetails.asp?item=AESGF93

nice change of pace for me. first figure too. Yeah I know, bit of a risk making this one my first figure, but i'm pretty sure I can do it OK. Not cocky sure, just pretty sure. Smile [:)] The motorcycle is just like my normal armor builds, just made entirely out of metal and PE.

And besides it's from my all time favorite movie so I had to have it. Big Smile [:D]

It's a great figure Tanky, but a bit of a challenge for your first try. Just take your time with it & all will be well.

Chris, as far as I'm concerned if the models are just started and have been hanging around for three years that's fine, you're in. I'll post you to Page 1 of the build.

Tanky that looks awesome!!! I can't wait to see Steve built up and painted.

Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D] Have you been reading my CV Karl

Sean I'll have a look for you and email something over and sorry I couldn't include all the roundels but the set doesn't actually supply that many.

Dave I agree with JB, I think we should go for an entire 1939 -45 span for the build and include Coastal Command aircraft as well. That way it allows a lot more scope of things to build My 2 cents [2c]

Yeah but it's when they go quiet that you have to start to worryWink [;)] I have a 2, 3 and 4 year old and they all went really quiet the other day because they were all totally focused on painting the kithchen cuboards with peanut butter/paste[:0]

BTW Sean your very welcome mateThumbs Up [tup] spewing about the colour etch not being there thoughDisapprove [V] Next time i make an order i'll be getting a set of those wing cannons to replace the ICM ones in my MK XVI kit.....
OH yeah if any of you fellas are interested they have the ICM Spitfire at My LHS for AU$25:00, the molds are starting to show their age and there is quite a lot of flash to remove but you get the Merlin and mounts as well as open gunbays in the kit... It's the MK XVI with the Pakard Merlin and bubble canopy..........

Atlantic GB I agree, anything from the Battle of the Atlantic from 1939 to 45...Thumbs Up [tup]

Well fellas, I'm back from my big scratchbuild job. My new desk is ready to go. And, because it's a new desk I thought I'd put my old projects aside and start something new. Got the Acc Min TBM-3 Avenger with Verlinden superdetail set (thanks to Jules) brewing. It's a shame I don't have a GB to build it for...... Hmmm, anyone for a new GB? Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D] Only joking, I wouldn't do that to you. So, I'll share my progress with you lads if you don't mind. Got nothing to do with the GB, but since when has that stopped any of us???

Good news (for me anyway Big Smile [:D]) i picked up the new digital camera today and SWMBO is very happy. It's a snappy little 5MP number so I'm looking forward to giving it a run with my Nth African 109 this weekend (I'm in the wrong forum again aren't I Tongue [:P])

I can remember my eldest, now 9, 18 months old at the time scuttling off, and going very quiet one Easter. We didn't think anything of it for about 15 minutes, then my wife went looking. There was little man with chocolate smeared all over his face and an Easter egg in pieces in his lap!!!!Shock [:O] We were laughing too hard to rell him off!

My daughter (about 2 at the time) brought a big piece of sidewalk chalk (pink no less) in the house once and proceeded to colour 'everything' in the Rec room pink... and I mean everything, TV, Stereo, sofa, walls, kid size pool table, etc. It was only chalk (thank goodness) but I discovered chalk is really hard to get off of fabric. Disapprove [V] Ahhh... those were the days, won't be long now before i have to start keeping the baseball bat behind the door to chase away the boys. Sad [:(]

As for the Atlantic GB I agree with what's been said to keep it as open as possible so tha's what we'll do. The entire war and coastal ships and aircraft included. Tanks too if you can show them stored aboard a freighter! Clown [:o)]

No there's no thread for the Atlantic GB up yet Chris. This is sort of it's unofficial home for the time being.

Chris Keep your eyes open towards the end of November for the thread but don't worry... with this crowd it won't be hard to find! Big Smile [:D]

As for going against the grain you might just find yourself in some stiff competition as the wierd and wacky seems to be mainstream around here. You'll fit right in! Tongue [:P]

Chris As Rick has said, this is the home of fringe!

Yeah thats true i just found me at Hannants a 1/48 Gavia westland Lysander for the next BoB GB........

Well i just spent the better part of 2 hours trying to figure out how to build this HE 219, with the Verlinden super detail set and the Eduard PE set going in it it's something that i'm really gonna have to plan well, I've already decided considering how well the wing fit will be to construct and paint the wings and engines in sub assembly's and glue them in toward the end of the build, the only thing i'm worried about is the weight of all the resin in the wings............Jeez i hope i have enough time to get this one done by the end of the GB..........

Wacky?, Weird?, Fringe? You reckon?Wink [;)]

There are countless dead GB's lacking active participants or being startied and left unmoderated (is that even a word) and we have 2 active GB's running in one thread and nethier of them is started... not a drop of bloodxxx er ah glue has been spilled yet. Fringe? That's putting it mildlyBig Smile [:D].

Moments later

So what's this I hear about a BOA GB? OK I'm in.... don't know where I'll find the time but that hasn't stopped me yet.

To self

Am I nuts? help me!Sad [:(]

actually I think there are like 4 or more GB's in this thread...
I here ya about the dead GB's, I joined the deconstuction build and only three guys ever did much, I even ripped apart on old model to do for it but I quit cause no one was posting anything, it got boring. So now I have this ripped up dauntless that I wanted to do for a jungle crash dio for the build sitting in a drawer...someday I still want to do it.

A BOA GB sounds interesting. Think I have a Tamiya 1/48 Stringbag somewhere in the stash. Might be a good excuse to actually build it Smile [:)].

Seeing where as this is the official 'unofficial' staging area for the upcoming Battle of the Atlantic GB, I stumbled on this web site while researching & trying to decide whether I want to build an Avenger or go fringe and build a Tarpon. Guess I don't have to decide today.....

that's a great site Bob... I was all over that looking for info about my first Martlet when I built it...

I say go for the Tarpon... why not have something on your shelf that when friends come over they say "But.... thats an American plane!" and knowingly (they think) scoff...

just lie back and close your eyes and think of what fringe feels like in your hands... feels good doesn't it? Evil [}:)] Wink [;)]

hmmm I still think that idea about a Fringe GB would be good... we would have to allow at least 6 months or more for research alone!!!
