Tom Pierre Closterman reports an encounter with a 335 in his book 'The Big Show'. I say 'encounter' more like, 'What the hell is that? It's going way too fast to catch anyway!'.

Ernst Heinkel was extremely protective of his business interests, hence all the lobbying of senior officials within the Reich to get the He 162 Spatz accepted as the new Volksjager. Yet he was strangely unsuccesful when it came to the He 219, until it was too late. Lucky all round for us I think.

Jules I may be typing out of turn here, but I would have thought an RAF rescue launch would have been well in scope for the next BoB GB.

I'm back from London. I have returned with a  healthy dislike for monarchy and royalty and powerful people who derive their dominance solely through the fact that they are direct descendants of some bloke who mangaed to kill Harold in the far away place of Hastings in general. (No offense to you English types). But seriously, they could spare me a couple hundred million pounds couldn't they?

Managed to spend som time at the Imperial War Museum. Got some shots of their fw-190 and spitfire and mustang. But for me the best was Bovington. Hundreds of tanks... but you're mostly wingyers here... I further puzzled over why they chose to locate 221B Baker Street directly between 237 and 239 but I suppose that is how Londoners work... Mischief [:-,] All in all a great trip.... I was impressed by Hampton vourt Palace in particular...

Now I'm raring to go for the start date for this GB...

Tom which Do335 did you end up getting the trainer or the heavily armed version?  I saw both at a LHS at lunch time and was sorely tempted but I'll resist until the new year and we get over the Xmas spending hump.

Rick I can't see myself build a whole lot of 1/32 scale kits.  Even for a single seat fighter they are pretty big.  Can you imagine just how massive Trumpeter's 1/32 MiG-29 and Su-27 must be Shock [:O], you would need to add another room to the house just to store the thing.

Bob my vote would be for the Grey splinter pattern as I think that looks cool.  Unfortunately the scheme I've got picked out for mine is green, but I like it due to the yellow nose.  Here is a link to a review of the decal sheet, mine is the top one yellow 5.

http://decals.kitreview.com/decals/ec3296reviewlp_1.htm

Jules fair question, I hadn't really thought about adding vehicles to the BoB GB but I don't see why not.  If everybody else is happy them I have no objections.

Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D], but you are right Tom he is getting a bit stinky.

Darren, Dude it's not  vehicle it's a rescue boat that the RAF used to recover pilots that ditched in the channel......Small fast and very heavily armed for it's size with 6 lewis guns and a 20mm cannon.....

Hmmm i appear to be going through a Ship/boat stage, I've just picked up the Tamiya 1/72 PT 15 a modern Japanese torpedo boat.......

I was staying with my dad at 18 Dorset Square. Convenient place really. About a minute's walk from Baker Street.

Nice part of town, just off the West End. My company has a head office building on Baker St so I know the area well, very swish.

Darren - I didn't get it but it was neither.  It was the Do335 A12 two seater trainer... that's what I meant by UGLY!!!  It makes the one seater version look like Sofia Vergara in comparison...

Jules - I noticed the boat thing too.. I think I am getting into a tank thing lately... it's scaring me.

A few posts back there was a referenece to a BoB GB.  I musyt have missed something somewhere along the line here.  Is there a BoB being planned?  I missed the last one and want in on this one.

I was walking by my work table last night and there was a strange noise coming from the Trumpeter box.  Kind of like a rattling.... I think it knows the start date is nearly upon us.

This'll be BoB 2 'The Sequel'!

Can't remember who's running it, one of the Usual Suspects, but should start mid to late 2006 if memory serves me.

I noticed the same thing but I thought it was just the carpet monster trying to get at it becasue he hasn't been fed lately. Wink [;)]

I'm really looking forward to diving into this one.  I've got a challenging scheme for my 262 and the Meteor should be fun too.  Might have to add an armour piece later on with all this talk of Panthers.  Maybe a Maus from Dragon (1/72 of course).  We'll see how it goes.

Marc the BoB (that’s the Battle of Britain btw, not the Battle of the Bulge) GB last year was one of mine and I was planning on running another next year, you are more than welcome to join us when the time rolls around.

Speaking of which somebody (I think it might have been either (Karl, Bob or Dave) posted and Excel Spreadsheet with the timeframes for next years builds.  Whoever it was would you mind reposting that as I'd love to save a copy for reference.

I am currently filling the modeling void with a kit that I picked up after I saw Tanky's in the armor forum, it's the Tamiya 1/48 StuG III B and it's a really cool little kit.  I picked up the Hauler PE set for it and so far it's turning out OK.

Dave I noticed that Tamiya have just released their Panther G in 48th scale, which would make a nice addition to your targe... err armor collection.

Er.. it was me, Darren.  I tried to email you the spread sheet but the email button at the bottom of your post didn't work, so here it is in picture form.  As you can see, I updated it with the Spanish Civil War and Eastern front GBs.  If you want it I can still email it to you if sent me your email.

I should updated it with the Eastern Front and Spanish civil war GBs.

Two... more.. days. mmuusstt resist!....

I almost bought the aries resin cockpit detail set for my FW190-D9 at the LHS today but the shop owner convinced me to wait and if -no- when I get the Hasegawa kit to buy it then and use the Hasegawa kit cockpit parts in the airfix.  Not a bad idea, it just means I might wait a bit before I launch into this build...  mmm not sure if I can wait another four weeks or so.Sad [:(]  Maybe I'll go ahead and just scratch the cp.  I enjoy scratching anyway.Wink [;)]

Rick-I'm in for an Eastern Front GB.  I've got the Liberation Army of Russia decals for the bf-109g.  Will probably pick up the Hasegawa kit (g-10) to go with it.

Jay sorry about the confusion, I was typing up that post up at 12:45am this morning and I wasn't thinking straight.

Thanks for the offer of an email but it's not necessary as I have entered it into Excel myself now so that I can actually remember when I had promised to do things.

Marc got yours in the email this morning, thanks!  I'll have a proper look at it when I get home from work tonight.

Rick, yes you have real interest from me in an Eastern Front GB and I have added you to my spreadsheet.  The only comment I would have on your timeframe is that it cuts through and ends right in the Christmas holiday period.  Personally I don't get a lot of modeling done during this period, but I'd be interested to hear from the others.

Oh yeah, it's ONE day to go on my calendar Big Smile [:D]

Cheers

Darren, you're right about the Holidays.  I was just floating some dates, since I don't want to have too many really good GB Subjects in competition.  How would January 16, 2007 end date work out ?

Rick - I somewhat agree with Darren on the Christmas thing, if you extended it till Jan 16th or even Feb 1st to use round numbers, those of us with a few days off around Xmas could use any time we had to catch up and burn the candle at both ends if we are falling behind on the build.. those doing comfortable with their progress can spend it unwrapping presents on the 25th with their family instead (Wink [;)]

hmmm... I have an idea.. I might have to do that T-34 in Nazi clothes for this one after all... and another one for the Eastern front one in Commie clothes... that would make an interesting addition to my modeling collection as well as be "fringe" on one of the models... decisions decisions... of course I could do a Tiger in those two 'outfits' as well as they were used on both sides.. we'll have to see...  It all depends on if I can find a purse to match!  Wink [;)]

Rick put me down for an Eastern Front GB. Dates are fine by me, if I get squeezed for time I'll do some armour.

I quite fancy a Kursk Panther D.

Well, the Eastern Front seems like it might be a popular topic for a GB, but it's going to be a while off.  Hold off for now, though, I'll post a sign-up Thread early next year.
