Sure can Jules... but... you did say Wildcat right? Not the M... word? Oh wait, Tom's the one with the Martlet fetish!! (lol)

Did someone say M... M...  M... Martlet???  ::perk:: haha... actually I thought about doing one as I still have decals left for two more, one of which was in the N. Atlantic.. but this S-boot is calling me..  especially since I found some more references and the challenging paint job!!!!

Actually I have been in the mood for a Tarpon lately.. something different once again...

Good evening Gentlemen and fellow pilots:

I cut a small block and sanded to general shape the gun cage..

After a few minutes I had 90% of  the correct shape so I glued it to the main ring. There were different types of bubble tops some taller than others so I took this one from a pretty good photograph.

Almost done. I will put some putty around it tonight and tomorrow I'll sand to the final shape....This
Hudson is almost ready, will work on several details like the gear doors (card), struts (bamboo), antenna (bamboo), machineguns (bamboo), propellers Hubs (bamboo), propellers (card), Flaps (card).....and finally Paint it. That will wrap things up...........I will do two other things:
1) Flying Propellers (transparent plastic) and a base with a U-Boat maybe diving and bombs exploding on its sides or a level U-Boat surrendering to the "Hudson-Hunter".....If I do the last one I will have to place some crew with their hands up in the conning tower!!!!! (interesting).....
2) Take pictures of  Hudson at the airport at rest...........Take pictures of it attacking the sub...
and then put it in my collection, or give it away.

.....................Then continue with the Battle of the Mediterranean. or maybe do another here.....but what???......could it be the FW-200 Kondor???....Hummm Hummm Hummm.

Please note that the "decals" are rough demos printed with my PC on regular paper. Final ones will be quite different...

Well i dont normally measure my mix ratio cause i've mixed that much of it it's like second nature but you can't go wrong with a 60% paint to 40% thinner.......Hope this helps...

I never thin more than 30% personally, but be careful using alcohol as a thinner.  Not all acrylics work with it.  Vallejo for example, will turn into a curdled, clogging mess if mixed with alcohol.  Best to use the manufacuturers' thinner if possible.  If not, test first before you put it in your AB.

Hillbilly:  Good advice as always from Ric on the paint thinner.

Jules:  I'm hoping my wife will take the kids somewhere for spring break week coming up in March and leave me home alone with my plastic (is that a bad thing to hope for? Wink [;)]).  Hope to see some pics soon of the U-boot.

Progress report:  Not much really, but had the camera out last night and snapped a quickie!  Tamiya 1/700 O-Class destroyers from the RN.  Nothing has been glued yet as I will have to paint the decks and camo before I can do that.  Following are the pics of the ships I want to do, the Offa and the Onslow.

I would suggest creating an account at photobucket (it's free).  Upload your pictures, then each picture will have a link (use the one with IMG in it).  Then simply copy and past each link into your post.  You can also search the forums for more specific instructions, there are many posts that explain how to do it.

Dave, looks like a good start.  I don't know how you can build these little Ships.  All I would do is feed the Carpet Monster with tiny detail pieces.

Dave......

Very interesting little ships, I have never seen those kits but I suppose you can really detail them.

Tip:.........Remember if you need to make little parts, one of the best materials for them is Bamboo. It lets you cut and sand to any shape or form and is very
strong. Just go to your Supermarket Barbeque area and get yourself a whole pack!!!! with half a pack you have for many parts, the other half
use it to make some Shishkabobs!!!!!!Wink [;)]

Man i'm still working on the prop/rudder assmembly on this U-boat, 3 hours and counting, every part needed to be cleaned up where there is a defined line which shows where the molds go together, I only needed a tiny amount of filler on both prop shaft housings and i should have it all cleaned up and sanded in another hour or so.....

Hmmm 4 hours on the prop, rudder and hydroplane assembly, I think this is gonna be a long build.......

Yo everybody! Work on the Revell 1/72 Schnellboat is about to begin. I hope to finish the model before the end of the year... LOL kidding! I'm going to paint the model with regular standart colors, no fancy camo scheme on this one... I bought some White Ensign PE parts for the kit, i.e. the kit for the Revell S-Boot and the 2cm Flak Zwiling gun. Hope it's worth the money... I don't have a digital cam, I only own a webcam, so taking good pictures will be a little tricky, if not blurry, but I'll try my best. I also consider building the French submarine Le Surcouf, scale 1/400, if I need a break from my Schnellboot build. Le Surcouf was an amazing sub, of the class of the so-called "cruiser-submarines", fitted with a double 203mm gun (!) to engage surface targets; it even had a floatplane onboard, like the japanese subs... The sub enjoyed very little success during the war and was sunk by a US freighter in Feb 1942, some in France insinuating that it was done on purpose because the US supected the crew of being Vichy-friendly...

Chris - I remember doing some reading on that sub... it was impressive if only for the a historical reference alone..!!   I'll have to go back and look some more on it, I've forgotten a lot of the story.

-=edit=-

found a good little article for anyone who doesn't know about this sub:

Ok, here are the first images of the kit. The image quality is awful, but having spent more than 30min trying to get them posted, I don't have the patience to improve the pix so I'll leave them like that for now. It's better than nothing I suppose. Next time, I'll try to shoot the pictures during daytime...

So far, I've only painted the deck and made some progress with the wheelhouse:
