Howdy!

I am back from continuing education class in Virginia Beach.  Brain is fried from study and a two hour 20 question all essay exam on Saturday.  For you jet guys out there NAS Oceana was hopping the whole time I was there.  F/A18, A6 and a couple of F16!

I was looking at the Vampire on the bench and decided I am going to foil it.  Some with Bare Metal Foil and some "homemade" using Microscale adhesive.

How is every one doing?

The pre-shade looks great, the British markings are nice "twist".  First American jet in Allied markings, interesting...Be proud of this one!

I have finally completed my entry to this GB.  The kit needed some work in a few spots but overall wasn’t bad.  A nice addition to the collection.

Jerry, I haven't started yet.  Got too many builds going, not to mention Golf & Gardening.  But I've got 2 almost done, so I should be able to start the Attacker in a couple of weeks.   That's the plan anyway .

My 262 is finished and this time I thought I'd have some fun and take the pics outside. Tried the sepia thing. I'm not sure it was worth the effort.

The kit was typical Tamiya,  perfect fit and a breeze to build. I won't appologize for building something easy. I don't like to fill and sand much. Hope she passes muster.

I never thought I would ever get to the point of putting paint on this build.  Tried the mottling/streaking and I need to work on that technique.  Ended up giving it a more even final coat as I was not too happy with results.  Still, being my first attempt at pre-shading I do like the little bit of depth it adds.  The marks from the mask on the upper surfaces disappeared with the first coat of gloss. 

No...it's not the tequila.....it was the lemons. Seriuosly, it's really not all that important to draw straight lines when pre-shading. Actually, it probably looks better if it's not perfect. The next step with your base color is when you can straighten every thing out. Have fun.

BTW...I saw your cockpit on the aircraft page....wholy crap....beautifull.

But how come nobody told me how hard it is to do pre-shading?  How the heck do you guys draw such straight lines when you follow the panel lines?  I know I will never be a brain surgeon but I mean really…and I never thought my hands shake... but let me tell you.... I was all over the place.  

Now I have to figure out… Is it too much tequila or not enough?  (Please be the latter, Please be the latter,Please be the latter)

Looks great Marc. I used to use BMF to mask canopy's and it works great. The only draw back is you have to remove the adhesive residue when you're done. No big deal, but an extra step nontheless.

Thanks Jerry... may give it a try on the Airacomet.  Going to try pre-shading for the frst time too.

Progress-all the holes have been stuffed with foam rubber and the canopy has been masked with Bare Metal Foil.  This is my 1st Hobby Craft kit so I don't know if they are all like this or not.  The canopy frame is engraved instead of raised. WOW was this easy to mask.  The blade follows the groove great and made this a snap. Note to all kit makers that happen to be reading this.

DO THIS ON ALL YOUR CANOPIES

Canopy has the interior color on and the rest gets primer tonight.

It's the Brett Green treatment. Shoot the base color, let it dry, lighten it a little for some contrast, and spray thin streaks and mottles over the surface.Easy peezy Japaneezy.

the air show schedule is not being cooperative.  I just checked the Indians schedule... the are at home when I am there... that's the good news.  They are playing the Yanks... the bad news.  Who do I cheer for  Maybe I can go middle of the road and wear my Indian shirt and my Yankee cap!!!!

Sounds great!! but the Cleve. air show is in early fall, however the MAPS sponsored Akron show is definitely comin up soon. I'll check it out, and let you know. I saw the line up for this year, and it looks awesome. Funny, I just read the monthly news letter, and I can't remember the date. (Gettin old) I't's usually mid- June.

Ok....I just checked and the show (20 min. away) is June 17/18. I know for sure a Corsair, SBD, F86, A-1 Skyraider, and 2 P-47's including HunHunter and many more.  I can get the rest of the lineup if you want. You gotta come and see this. Also there's a rumor a B2 is suppose to do a fly over.
