Karl-Yeah I thought about the PE mesh idea, problem is the closest HS to me is around 1500 K/M's away, doable, over a week trip maybe, but I aint that keen Smile [:)]

Bob-I thought the same thing and asked the missus if she had any stockings, she said no Shock [:O]

What is the world coming to where a woman doesn't have even ONE pair of crusty old nylons in the draw!! Shock [:O]

Ah well, I gave the sponge method a go and to me it turned out better than I thought it would Approve [^] , might have some pics tonight.

Nice looking 109 by the way, love the white nose!

Josh-Nice pit mate!

Well, here are a couple of pics of my first attempt at sponge applied camo

The dodgy hobby light doesn't do it alot of justice, but it looks really good in natural light.

And beleive me no one is more surpridsed than I that this worked out Shock [:O]

The sponge I used was stolen from the polishing set I use for my beloved car

Sorry, I love my car.........anyways the spomge belonged to a Meguiars polishing set, and actually went on extremely well and kinda left an even covering for this method.

At the moment the decals are setting so I'll get some more pics when they are done.

Scott, Bob, Josh and Sean - Great progress guys! That sponge paint job came out great on both planes, sweet! I applaud you guys for trying it.

I've got the decals on both my 109s done, I'll post some progress pics tonight when I get home.

No progress on the Spitfire yesterday. My wife and I drove down to Sacramento to do some shopping at IKEA. Great store, but always a zoo.... too many people Shock [:O] Laugh [(-D]

Anyway, I hope to get the seam work finished maybe even get the underside sprayed tonight.

Tweety, great job on the 109, I really like the stippling effect you have going on there. Thumbs Up [tup]

Bob & Sean Thanks for sharing your sponge tips for doing 109 camo. I have one i've been avoiding because of the paint requierments now i may just give it a shot. Your 109's look super great work.

Btw Bob do you need 2 pairs of sunglasses to approach your car Big Smile [:D]

Here is my progress on the hurricane paint is done. now its on to installing the gears always fun, props & fiddly bits I'm getting there. Here is a pic of my Hurri

Tanky-sorry to hear that your schedule is full. This is one of those "Do as I say, not as I do (did)" type pieces of advice-focus on school & your studies-it will make a difference in the rest of your life. There will be plenty of time for modeling later. btw-the Spitfire you posted on the Aircraft forum is a work of art. Great job.

Tanky, sorry to see you bail, but I can understand the reason.

As for me, looking at the calendar on the wall, I figure I better get the lead out. Got the pit finished on my 1/48 Tamiya Bf-109E-4. Nothing fancy, only replaced the kit seat with a resin one from Ultracast & used an Eduard PE Instrument Panel. All else is box stock.
