Sean, stunning job on the Emil.

The paintwork looks great, especially the mottling and the weathering.

And the LED in the radio compartment is a stroke of genius! Thumbs Up [tup]

Progress Update

Picked up Tamiya's braille scale Emil on Friday, and got started on the pit yesterday.

I've added a set of Eduard PE belts, and painted everything. Managed to forget to paint the floor RLM 66, but figure I'll leave it as it won't be visible with the lid on.

Just needs a dry brushing, and then I'll put the fuselage together.

Wings are already together, and having dry fitted the fuselage to the wings there's absolutely no gap! Starting to see the appeal of Tamiya's 1/72 kits.

I'll post some pics once I've sorted out a new USB hub.

I even dusted off the Dornier at the weekend, so that should be done by the end of the month as well.

Hey Karl,

I did the '72 Tamiya 109 and it is absolutely fantastic!  In fact I did it for this GB.  I used no glue at all to fasten the wings to fuselage!

Dave, if the BR 20 isn't complete for this GB, you can always add it to the Spanish Civil War GB.Wink [;)]

Joe, that little Tamiya Emil, really is stunning.

I'm building a Revell 1/72 Fw 190 at the same time, and although the Revell kit is good fit wise, it's just not close to the Tamiya.

As for the Emil, the fuselage is ready to go together tonight, then I'll add the wings and top engine cowl.

At this rate it'll be in the paint shop by the weekend.

Marc, homelife is always the issue and I wouldn't have it any other way! Wink [;)]  It's going to be neck and neck as to whether the first round of renovations (spare bedroom in what was the garage) or this build will be finished first.  I feel like I spent the whole summer in the garage. Sad [:(]

Rick, thanks!

Karl, it's tempting but I'll stick with BoB markings.  I'm looking forward to building the Cr 32 for the Spanish Civil War GB as I believe it will be my first biplane ever.

Bob, long live the fringe! Big Smile [:D]  Although I realized that I only have one spitfire (battle of France mk1) and currently no Me 109's on the display shelf (I have 1 in the scrap pile awaiting restoration and two partially completed in the stash - started by someone else)  Oh the shame Ashamed [*^_^*]

Speaking of fringe, has anyone heard from Tom (tho9900)?  I haven't seen him post in quite a while.

Bear- Yeah, I ran the wires down the landing gear and drilled small holes throught the bottom of the wheels to go through the base where the batteries are.

Worked surprisingly well actually. The only hassle was completeing the model with wires in the way for most of the build.

Rick- Yeah, I noticed Tom hasn't been around for a bit.

Don't suppose anyone has heard from Jules over the last year??

Outstanding Rick you did a great job on itThumbs Up [tup]

Sean it must have been a challenge working around those wires however the effort was well worth it.

Rick, great looking build.

Progress Update

Applied the RLM 65 to the Tamiya Emil on Sunday.

Can't believe how well this little kit goes together.

Still it didn't stop me cleaning too much off the base of the windscreen, so now I have to shim it with plastic strip.Dunce [D)]

The kit has yet to be produced that I can't cock up some how!

hey yall!!!  just popped in for a bit... sorry for the long absence but I got into a fit of "low down deep, I don't want to model anymore blues"

One day I woke up and just had lost all interest in it.  A lot has been going on at work and home so decided I'd hold off on building for awhile... well that turned into longer and longer... so finally I decided putting all my stuff up, staying off here for a bit, and getting things together were called for.

Not sure I'm ready to model again but I'll try to pop in here a bit more.

I think what killed me was the super PE set for the B-25 I was building for the Memorial day GB... it was 110+ pieces and all interior.  It was driving me fits especially when I test fitted the fuselage and realized I could not see a single one of them!!!!  I am contemplating building one of my simple 30 piece little Academy 1/72 kits to get me in the mood again...

Anyway thought I'd pop in and let yall know what was going on!!!

---Tom--- O' brave new world, That has such people in it!

Good to hear from you Tom.  I know how you feel.  If a build takes much longer than two months I lose interest and have to put it away for awhile before I can look at it again.  I try to get a good mix of quick and dirty builds along with longer more complex builds.  There has been more of the latter lately and I'm anxious for one of those Academy kits myself.

Sean,  Thanks Guy.

Tom,   Good hearing from you.  We all go through slumps now & then.  Back in the mid 80's I didn't build anything for about 2 years, but eventually the urge will return.

Tom- It seems to have been that type of year for most of us.

I finished the 109 barely, and really was in a slump by the end of her.

Now that I've turned my focus from doing ktis I like and for GB's to making an Airfix Concorde for my lovely missus, I'm getting a little more 'drive' back.

Between that and putting the new stereo in my car Im hoping to get my ying back with the yang.

Well, thats the plan anyways.

Tom, good to hear from you!Smile [:)]

Know the feeling, I've switched to 1/72 fighters, just can't face anything bigger!

If you can't face modelling, I'm sure you can still face yakking.

Hey Tom... Just as long as you are OK.  Good to see you again.  Sometimes when people just kind of disappear and you never know why, I think about 3 1/2 years ago when I had my PE…Pulmonary Embolism… not Photo Etch ;o)… nearly bought the farm.  I would have disappeared from here too.  If it is just a slump, that’s no biggie, you’ll get over it.  And as others have said, I know what you mean.  I have had a couple that lasted 14 and 20 years.
