That was the Desert Scheme, Dark Earth/Midstone, but that wasn't used in the BoB.

Well I opened, just opened mind you, my "stuff" for this.  The Tamiya 1/72 Bf109E3, Aires DB601 and Eagle Strike decals.  Oh wow will there be some work with the Aires DB!  Plenty of cutting to get it to fit.

Well...lets make a deal...I need some reference photos of the Bf, specifically the engine mounts and details like guns.  If some one out there has ref. material I would be willing to do a trade; for example a 1/72 scale Academy Hellcat or some decals, like a 1/48 Tally Ho sheet for a 262.  Any takers?

I hate to ask for something and not have something to offer back.

Joe I have some fairly decent reference shots of the 109 Emil’s engine and mounts and if you want them then they are yours.  Send me an email with your address and I'll burn what I have on CD for you and mail it off.

Thanks for the trade offer but it's not necessary.

Cheers

Well there's only one day left before we can start building, but given we've got six months for this build I don't think there's any hurry.  Personally I have a couple of other GB's I'm committed to before I can make any serious progress on the Hurricane.

Joe, I'm building up your CD this weekend and I'll have it mailed off to you Monday or Tuesday.

Cheers

Thanks a ton Darren.

I am in the same boat as you, a Mustang and a Vampire have my attention right now...when I start my Emil I will need the bench totally clear.

Sign - Ditto [#ditto]  I'm up to my eyeballs with the AM Avenger and Great Models is having to order my Ultracast seats.....along with having a P-40C for the Allied Aces GB that is still in the box...maybe if my wife would let me quit work I could get caught up....

I also have a couple of builds to polish off before I can start my Emil.  Looking through my stash of AM, I can't find the Ultracast seat that I was sure I had.  I'll do another sweep, but may have to place an order.

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] to all of the above!  Especially that part about quitting my job to get caught up! Big Smile [:D]  Let me know how that goes Bob!!!

I've got my Ju 290 for the Atlantic and a Ar 234C that I'm working on (and maybe one or two others)before I start this one so it will be awhile.  Looking forward to it though.

ok I might be going crazy, or getting normal... I'm not sure which.  But since there is a veritable drought on bombers this year I'll be doing a He-111H... I'll have to scrounge for decals as I have yet to find any good ones for this BoB units.  Most of the aftermarket ones are for generic time periods from what I see... they just say "KG26" etc.. on them..

It looks like the decals I have already have appropriate unit insignia for KG27 and KGr100 at the time of the BoB (re: www.BattleofBritain.com...) I'll just have to make sure about the letter codes and such...

Oh yeah, it's the Hasegawa 1/72 model...  and while I am here.. does anyone have some refs on the He111, expecially the bomb bay as this one appears to have a nice one... I probably model it open.

I believe the 109 at Dayton is an Bf 109G-10 which began service several years after the Battle of Britain, but I'd still like to see the pictures though.  Smile [:)] Cool [8D]

Tom I've just sent you an email with some reference shots of an He111 bomb bay, they are not much but they are the best I could come up with.  I'll keep my eyes peeled for some decals for you as well but from the quick search that I made pickings seem to be fairly slim.

Daniel (FeldMarSchall Model) welcome to the build and thanks for the offer of posting your 109 pics.

Cheers

Darren thanks!  I had found some but yours were interestingbecause of the 1000kg bombs being loaded for a raid over England.. I might try to pick up the (I think Tamiya makes it) Luftwaffe ground kit which I think has a variety of bombs among other things and model that setup...

I can post my 109 pictures, but one question how do you post your pictures stright on the page instead of linking them to a website?  I got many pictures of the 109.

Unfortunately, you have to host them on a pic hosting site such as photobucket (free) and then link to them.
