Tweets - the CR.42 and G.50bis both saw service out of Belgium against Ramsgate, Felixstowe and Harwich.  So did the BR.20M bomber.  They list the color of the CR.42 camo the day they came over on "parade" but not sure of the scheme, there are a few pics on the page so maybe you can find something..  Here's a link to the history:

The CR.42 would be an interesting submission as a biplane fighter pitted against Spitfires and Hurricanes (and possibly Martlets... of course! )

The FSM BoB special published last year had some nice profiles of Italian aircraft involved in the conflict.  Don't know whether it's still available or not but it was a great issue.

If you build 1/72, Italeri just released a very nice CR 42.

Mike's right, that FSM BoB issue did feature color plates of a BR.20M, a couple of CR.42s and couple of G.50s.  The issue also describes the camo colors they used; the only problem is the descriptions of the colors such as "Giallo mimetico3 with Verde mimetico3 and Marrone mimetico2 mottling on all upper surfaces" mean absolutely nothing to me.

Tom don't forget that the Brits used Gloster Gladiators and Sea Gladiators against Bf-109s in the opening stages of the BoB .  Also, that same issue of FSM also features a nice color plate of a He 111-H3 from KGr 100 if you're interested.

Darren - Giallo is yellow... Verde is green of course (probably pale green) and Marrone is dark red/burgundy... which is why the description in the link I provided earlier describes the CR.42's as "Peacocks amongst Eagles" when compared to the RAF and German A/C flying those days...

I had almost forgotten about the Gladiators...  the amazing thing is much later they were still used in the defense of Malta...  a tribute to an otherwise obsolete plane at the time...

I've never played that game TryintoModel but thanks for the info, I didn't know that Mk 108 was used on anything but the 262.

Jay I'm glad to hear that the shed worked out fine but what exactly is wrong with your computer?

Well a sort of a bit of progress today as my decals from Aeromaster finally arrived.  Now all I need is for GMW to ship my paint and at least I'll have everything I need to start

ALL - well today was a great day.. my interior detail set and canopy masks for the He-111 arrived so probably by next week I will be building for this one...  The set looks exquisite with the tiny belts and IP for this 1/72 kit... I really am looking forward to diving in to it.  Also it will be the first Hasegawa kit without the split tail and rear fuselage to contend with..  (I love the Hase kits but hate their engineering with the rear half having a separate uppper surfaces that are a pain to mate!!)

Joe you are more than welcome, if you can make some use of some of the stuff I sent than that's enough in the owing department.

JB, OK Tom is right you've come to the right place so now just sit back and relax this won't hurt a bit.  It sounds like you have a corrupted device driver on your system that is playing havoc with your PC.  Have your tried booting the PC in safe mode?  This will tell you if it is device driver or something more serious.  Have a look in Control Panel - Hardware - Device Manager and check for any conflicts that can be fixed up easily.  Failing that the next thing I would do is completely blow away and then re-install the HP image downloading software and see if that resolves the problem.

I'm currently banned from yard work () after a recent stay in hospital that I had a couple of weeks ago.  Banned from yard work but not from modeling , I've been having a ball.  The only bad thing is that I have to go back to work on Monday.

Tom I hear you with Hasegawa and their split tails/ gun ports/ fuselages I had fits with my P-40 I the Aussie GB trying not to loose too much detail with sanding and sill achieve a decent join.

Okay I posted this in the BofA GB.  I got it working and downloaded the pics. I did a disk defragmentation and that helped a lot.  Last time I did one was before Christmas.  Also the internet connection I use is dial up and the provider had a software that you could download to speed up their dial up connection. It owrks by reading imagefiles and compressing them when displaying them (sort of)  Ever since I put this software on my computer last January, it hasn't been running right.   My wife and I have also decided to go with a highspeed provider now so hopefully that will help with things and I will get rid of the other internet software. 

Tom and Darren even though I am on a comnputer all day, I really know nothing about systems.  BTW, I use Win98.  Tom how do you get the camera set up as another drive?  When I plug the camera in I have to turn it on and it tries to automatically connect to the computer.  Recently it would just get hung up on trying to connect.  Can I just map it as a new drive in windows explorer even if the camera hasn't "connected" yet?  Darren, how do I boot it in safemode .

Dave, that's great, I was thinking about whether or not you got them yet while I was watching the Oilers in triple overtime!   Well, actually during the intermissions. 

Has any one ever worked with Falcon vacuformed canopies (from NewZealand)?  I can't seem to find the one I want in stores here in Calgary and may need to order it from somewhere else.

Jay - since it is Win98 it's a problem of a different flavor... try going to Start/Settings/Control Panel and look for an icon called System (with the camera plugged in and turned on)  open this up and look for anything with a red question mark or yellow exclamation mark next to it and let us know what it is.  I'd definitely think about uninstalling the camera software and driver (if it doesn't autouninstall when you do the software) and reinstalling it.  Back up your pictures if the software saves them in the same folder with the software that runs it, just in case it deletes them.

Darren - I had forgotten about the gun ports... I'm about to glue those on my P-47 and they are almost always IMPOSSIBLE to align.

Okay, success! I found a LHS here in Calgary that has bi-monthly orders to Hannants which is good as I'll get him to order the Falcon Clearvax set I need for the only 1:72 vacuform Bf110c canopy available.

It also has several other aircraft in the set I am interested in like the Ju-188.  I built the Italeri kit years ago and I did the squiggle camo on it but with a brush, I am interested in trying it out with an Airbrush if I do it again.  It also has a Hs126 which looks very interesting!  Other aircraft include two Bf109G canopies, an He162, Do217e, He219 and Ju88c.  All are very interesting aircraft to do so it looks like I'll have my hands full for 1:72 Luftwaffe subjects over the next few years!

Okay some progress pics... well sort of, last weekend I did my shed and I still have to paint it but someone wanted to see some pics, so here they are in all their glory. 

So for now I am calling it a representation of an early war luftwaffe utility shed some where in the Calais area of France at an airfield used by a Zerstorer group.  Have fun!

And me, just to prove to you I did build it (I had several buddies over which helped a ton!), I am cutting some of the door trim in the pic.
