Hi espins1.. Thanks for the invite, but in all honesty, I dont usually take more than a few days to build a kit.. So I dont usually join in on group builds..  I am what you would call an idiot-sauvant, but without the sauvant!.....

Here are some pics from my thread posted by the builders of these kits.. I wanted to show these pics to show you the 2 different schemes that Erich's aircraft had..

Thanks anyways.. Chris

On the bench:

                          1/150 /1/160 N Scale Japanese Rail diorama.

Thanks for the pics Chris.  I was watching that thread as well.  In fact, I'm going to pick up a G-14 kit at lunch today.  I really want to do the white scheme in the first picture as I've always liked the look of that aircraft. Cool [8D]

Get rid of my entry. I've started the 109, and it's not going to be Bartels' plane, as the kill markings on one side of the ruuder weren't on the decals sheet. So, I'll do a what-if Erich Hartmann He-162, if that's ok. No wait, it's almost finished Banged Head [banghead]. I'll probably get something soon, so don't worry, I'll still be in. Change my status to TBA.

I'm washing my parts tonight so I can begin work tomorrow.  I decided to do two aircraft for this build.  I'm also going to do a Bf109G-14 flown by Erich Hartmann in a winter scheme JG53.

Well here in the good old southern hemisphere it's already the 1st and I've spent the night priming the wheel wells on my 262 for the Alclad that will follow.  I can't do anything much with the front office until the resin cockpit arrives from Cutting Edge.

Cheers

I was reviewing the instructions before I began on the Hasegawa 1/32 Bf109G-14 and have already found a huge glitch in the paint chart.  Somehow in the middle of the legend in the right hand column where they actually describe the color, it looks like a cell got deleted in the spreadsheet and the descriptions from about 2/3 of the way down to the bottom are all shifted up by 1.  So they show the RLM04 color lined up with description RLM66 Black Gray, RLM66 Black Gray lined up with the description RLM76 Light Blue.  RLM76 is lined up with RLM80 Olive Green, RLM80 lined up with Tire Black.  If I followed the instruction literally the cockpit would be RLM76 Light Blue when in fact it should be the color above, RLM66 Black Gray.  I'll make a scan of the chart and post it next week, with the necessary corrections.

So, I need to figure out exactly on which color the glitch is, and then figure out which color is missing it's description.  Fortunately they reference the GSI Creos Aqueous Hobby Colors, which I should be able to cross reference on this great color guide on the IPMS Stockholm website:

Good score today at the LHS... I found the Big Ed set for Tamiya's 1/48 scale Fw 190A-3 for 50% off.. It includes the following:

XF 009 Fw-190 A/F Express Masks

XF 525 Fw-190 National Insignia Express Mask

XF 564 Blotch Mask Photo Etch Set

48396 Fw-190 A/D Landing Flaps P/E

48449 Fw-190A Access and Scribing Templates

49214 Fw-190A3 Color and Standard P/E set

The kit is already pretty slick out of the box but getting the above set for $22.00 was a real treat

Nice pick-up on the Big-Ed Matt, all that gear should really trick out your 190 Thumbs Up [tup]

Yeti I picked up the He 162 as a fathers day present on the weekend and it looks really nice kit, I'll be looking forward to seeing yours.

Welcome to the build Yeti.  I added you to the roster.  Is that the 1/32 Revell kit or the 1/48 Tamiya kit?  And just let me know the pilot once you decide.  Cool [8D]

Not much progress to port on the 262 other than the fact that the Alclad went on last night, boy I love that stuff!  Still no sight of my Cutting Edge pit, but I only ordered it the other day so I'll just have to be patient.

Cheers

Glad to hear your Alclad went on well!  I have yet to try it.  Perhaps on my P-51D?  I'm looking forward to some progress pics.  Smile [:)]

Sorry to hear you've been stuck in hospital Shane, nothing serious I hope.

Scott, there's honestly not a lot to see at the moment, just the bottom of the cockpit tub which also forms the top of the wheel well painted Duraluminium.  When I get a bit further along I'll post some snaps.

Cheers

Ok, I scanned the color chart from the instructions of my 1/32 Hasegawa Bf109G-14.  As you can see in the scan, they missed the description for color "72" H76 which should be Intermediate Blue.  The rest of the descriptions just need to be moved down one line so they match up.  Now that I've figured all that out I can move forward with confidence... Shock [:O] Laugh [(-D]

Click on the scan to zoom in so it will be legible.

That's why I always review the instructions and paint guides before I start my builds.  It's a pain, but it can really save you some headaches during the build.  Nothing worse than realizing you painted something the wrong color.  Depending on how far you are you may not be able to repaint.  Shock [:O]

Yeti0010 -you either have to type in whole path of picture from your image hosting site(most of us here use photobucket.com,and put it between
or use the create link button when replying it looks like a green ball and chain.

Have started both kits ,went to take some pic's but wife had used batteries for something else and now flat so have to recharge ,will get some up tomorrow

You'll need to host your photos on a photo web hosting site, such as www.photobucket.com

Just go to their website, create an account (it's free).  Then you simply upload your photo to their website.  Once it's uploaded there will be 3 links just below your photograph.  Copy the 3rd link (the last one) and simply paste that link into your post on the FSM forums and voila!  Your phot will appear in your post.  Smile [:)]

No progress to report, been busy wrapping up a couple of other builds that are due at the end of the month.  It will probably be another week before I begin work in earnest for this build.
