Nice work Yeti!  Your He162 looks great!  I think you're the first to post progress pics.  Nice job!Smile [:)]

My project is on hold for about 1 more week while I wrap up to other group builds that end in a week.

I'm starting one of my 109s this weekend, so I should have some in progress cockpit photos in a couple of days.  Smile [:)]

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm up to my eyeballs in 'real life' stuff & other group builds to boot.  I did look at the instructions Sunday night though......Sigh [sigh]

yeti0010-very nice build.  I've been meaning to comment on your work, but....anyway-great job.

Ya, I've been bogged down in the final phases of our home remodeling.  Our master bathroom was supposed to be finished a week and a half ago, but the contractors can be so flaky and we're still not done.  I'm taking the day off today to take care of some drywall repair and painting prep, as well as covering up where the old medicine chest used to be.  This stuff keeps taking up all my time.  Sad [:(]

I finally accepted the fact that life is just nuts and pulled out of some of the GBs I was in so I can get some breathing room and actually participate in the middle of the GBs instead of just sliding in at then finish.  I'm beginning the painting of my Spitfire in earnest later today for the Battle of Britain GB, then I'll begin my Bf109G-14 for this build.  If all goes well cockpit assembly begins this week.  I'm also going to start my P-38 for the South Pacific GB.

Thanks for everyone's patience, and again great job yeti0010.  Sorry the rest of us weren't able to hit the ground running when this build started.  I hope life is treating all the rest of the participants well and that we'll see some of everyones great work in this build soon.  Smile [:)]

Scott-which pilot's P-38 are you going to build?  I haven't ordered decals and don't want to duplicate your build (unless I can't find another good application).  My plan is to go with an OD paint scheme, E/F/G version.  Or maybe it's the F/G/H version....been one of those days.....older ProModeler kit (Hasegawa re-boxed).

Thanks

I'm building a 1/48 Hasegawa P-38 F "Flying Dutchman" for that build.  I've been wanting to build my P-38 for a while so as I wrap up the Spitfire, I'll be working on the South Pacific and Axis Aces GBs.

Thanks Scott-the 'Flying Dutchman' was on my short list, but Aeromaster has a couple of other options I can go with.  I'll probably wait until I get close to starting-need to finish the CBI GB first and then maybe this one before I start on the P-38-that GB doesn't end for a while!

Hey, I don't mind at all if you want to do the exact same thing as me.  Just wanted to make sure you knew that in case that's holding you back from doing the Flying Dutchman.  Smile [:)]  I had a heck of a time finding markings for the P-38F in the South Pacific, and as far as I could tell, when I did my original aftermarket decal research, those were the only ones out there.

I've made enough headway today on the bathroom remodeling and on the Spitfire that I've acutally started on the cockpit of my Bf109G-14!  Hurray!  Big Smile [:D]

Thanks Scott-Aeromaster has a couple of South Pacific options for the F & G versions.  Might go with one of those.  Probably won't get started until the first of the year at the current pace. I'm afraid that this GB's end date is going to sneak up on me.

No worries, I was actually thinking of extending the deadline until May of next year, because everyone is so bogged down with GBs and life right now.  Smile [:)]

Hi all! It's been awhile since I've been here but I would like to join the GB if it's not too late.

Thanks

Here is a shot of my Bf109G-14 interior right after I sprayed the basecoat.  It's not much to look at yet......

I'm going to do an oil wash and some dry brushing to bring out the 3D relief, add shadowing, accent the high points and show some wear and tear.  I'll post updates along the way.  Smile [:)]

Went to my LHS (High Sierra Models) and just picked up the Squadron/Signal Publications Walk Around Number 43 "Messerschmitt Bf109G" that has exactly what I need.  Lots of color photos and some beautiful shots of everything in the cockpit.  Big Smile [:D]

Got some detail work done on the cockpit.  Here are two shots of the instrument panel.  It was fun!  Smile [:)]

Here are some shots of the cockpit, I'm going to do the oil wash as soon as I know the glue is good and set.  They're a little dark, so after I do the wash I'll try to do some more "professional" shots.  I also put a drop of future over each instrument, and will add some more so there are lenses over each instrument.  I'll do some dry brushing as well tomorrow.

bump.....and while I'm here-broke the FW-190A3 (Hasegawa) out of the box-nasty sink holes above the rear landing wheel on both sides....maybe not nasty, but noticeable.  A little masking tape and some Squadron white putty & fingernail polish remover and I think I'll be good to go.  Unless somebody tells me that there is supposed to be a small sink hole there!
