Big Smile [:D] Hehe, it's a blueish green plastic. I posted close-up pictures of the parts that will be given additional details with WE PE parts.

First thing : sand all the deck planks.

I'm sure you'll do it justice CelestinoBig Smile [:D] I don't think there is any kit that is truly accurate. the Revell PT-109 I'm doing has it's faults as well. That's why I bought the WEM PE sets for itTongue [:P]
I don't see why you couldn't swap the depth charges for the horned mines, I think Greg's doing a "what if" type. (see page 1)

Hey Eddie,

Sorry, I did not respond to your question from 5-8-06. Missed it somehow.

Regarding Airfix E-boat, intend to do OOB. I know it has faults. I did a dry fit and it seems nice. Pity the hull is wrong. Regarding paint either prewar white/grey(whatever schnellbootweiss is) or the dunkelgrau or similar of the Norwegian campaign. Have a sacrificial test model nearby for painting to test colors.

You know what would be cool? If I could swap the depthcharges for horned mines. Some guy did it with the S-100. Have to research and see if any of this class did that sort of thing. Might score some points with the Judges.

I went to hobby lobby over the weekend before last and picked up Revells PT-109 and S-100. Standby use only incase the Airfix comes out less than hoped for.

Have the usual suspects regarding S-boat books- Squadron, Classic, Historie & Marine, and two German language books but they are operational histories. Really do not have an excuse to bomb it.

Then, in that case - in lieu of a Kriegsmarine category, we'll have an Axis Powers category ...

Where do the Italians go? When the 1/72 Italieri M.A.S. kit is released I would anticipate some late participants to the Build. There are also the Choroszy Modelbud 1/72 resin kits of Italian boats:

Finally, I have decided what to build. Smile [:)] I am in with two Vosper boats: British Vosper MTB by Revell AG and Airfix Vosper MTB.

I know, that they are not best kits, but every kit deserves to be built. Smile [:)] Sooner or later... Wink [;)]

In anticipation of the starting gun going off, the bench has been cleared off and the box got pulled off the shelf where it has sat too long.  Looking at this again, I remember why it is I wanted to build this great looking little boat.

I found the articles John P. wrote for Airfix Magazine back in 1980.  He sent me copies of them and some other great stuff over twenty years ago.  If you send me your email, I'll send you jpgs of the plans for MGB43 and MASB 37.

The 63' MASBs fall into the 22-39, 40-45, & 49 group.  Various sources (Rance, North, Lenton & Colledge) indicate that MASB 40-45 were originally destined for Sweden and The Netherlands.  43 still exists as a yacht owned by Gordon Clavell.  He has a nice website with photos and a short history at:  http://www.alliesinwar.com/gordon_cavells_mtb_45_s3.htm

If anyone is doing the 63' HSL as an HSL, I'm about to post a number of color renderings of five of them that John did about the same time as the articles.  They will be on www.coastalforcesplans.com in Photos.

I searched online and found a few photos of MGB 34, it has sponsons on either side of the cabin with twin Lewis guns. and the Polish MGBs have a single turret superimposed over the cabin about aft or mid length with a sort of mini-tower and fairing. Really strange design.

Info says these are ex-Netherland bound boats.

NB: I realize Messrs. Ross and Connelly are motor torpedo and small boat experts. I hope you gentlemen do not mind my posting the links in the previous posts regarding MTBs.

Yes, a man named James Pritchard did that conversion, actually he did a couple of them utilizing the Airfix kit ... Find the IPMS/UK's SIG on torpedo boats and ask them if they could get you the articles.

Can the Airfix RAF boat be built as MGB 43 and/or Polish S2/S3?

I mean if the hull is the same then the remainder above can be reworked.

As will I as well, whereas I don't have Dr. Ross' seniority in the field, I can however put you in touch with sources that you might not be able to find on your own.  I have sources that have quite a lot on the RN and Kriegsmarine vessels.

Just email me with your inquiries.  I will do my best to help.
