HOLY SHNIKES! It has been almost a whole day and no one has posted. Well fellas.... back from the field. Good to be home for the weekend. Haven't really made any progress on the 162, still in the planning phase. As most maintainers see it what good is having a hinged cowling if it hinges INTO  where you need to be. While I understand this aircraft was the mother of invention I still don't agree with that decision. Sooooo I think I will try to model the aircraft with one of the cowlings folded open, and the other off leaning on the aircraft( removed). I am crossing all sorts of personal barriers on this build, because this will be the closest thing to a diorama I have ever done. Not to mention all the scratchbuilding I will have to do on the engine. I will get some pictures up soon. If anyone has any pictures of this a/c (especially the bmw 003 engine) let me know. Cheers fellas.....If you can't be good, be good at it!   JOSH

P.S. NICE WORK ON THE ABRAMS!

Yes I think we are all still recovering from the adrenillin of the voting process.  Kinda like coming down off a sugar rush! Big Smile [:D]

Paul, that is the build that awed me as a child and led to my styrene addiction.  My friend's older brother built models and when I saw him build one of those it just was one of those childhood memories that you never forget.  I still havn't built it. Never saw it in the shops as a kid but one of these days I'll snap one up on evilbay!  Thanks for sharing those pics.

The story of the poor, deformed Bv-141 began in the late 1930s when the Luftwaffe was shopping for a light ground attack aircraft to supplement the Junkers Ju-87 Stuka, which was already in production. Focke Wulf proposed its Fw-189, while at Blohm & Voss, designer Richard Vogt came up with what is certainly the most asymmetrical airplane ever flown.

It would have been intriguing to know what Vogt had in mind when he conceived her, as it would be interesting to know what charisma he must have brought into play in order to convince his employers to take such a design to the Reich Luftfarhtsministerium (Air Ministry). In any case, the RLM was predictably appalled by this strange contrivance and refused to appropriate a single pfenning for its production. There were scowls and snickering and suggestions that Blohm & Voss stick to flying boats. Focke Wulf's Fw-189 won the production contract.
Blohm & Voss was, however, sufficiently impressed with the Bv-141, that they actually undertook to build it at their own expense. The airplane that emerged from Vogt's drawings was remarkably aerodynamic, the fact of which he'd already known. It was 39 feet 10 inches long, with a wingspan of 50 feet 8 inches and a weight of 8600 pounds, putting it in almost exactly the same size and weight class as the familiar Messerschmitt Bf-110. Powered by a BMW132 865 hp radial engine, the Bv-141 had a respectable top speed of 248 mph and a ceiling of 29,530 feet, while its 700-mile range was almost twice that of the Fw-189.
Its first flight, on 25 February 1938, proved the Bv-141 to be more airworthy than its detractors wanted to believe. Over the next two years three prototypes and 10 Bv-141A production aircraft were completed, but the poor bird never shook the stigma of its disfigured appearance.

Thanks Paul.    Let's say if I was giving a airplane contract and somebody came up with something like that, I would be extremely surprised because of the non-conventionnal look.

Really interresting airplane.....

Frogfoot nice job on the Abrams thus far, keep posting please.

Windhawk the minesweeper will measure 17 and 1/2 inches from bow to stern. Judging from the size of the figures 1/125 scale looks pretty close to a N scale - maybe a place for some extra figures.

P1200007.jpgHere is a picture of the hmmwv I am building for the other GB I am involved in. Thanks for the link to the 162 site. It had some really awsome gear well pictures.......still trying to dig up the powerplant pictures. I was looking at the kit again today, it looks pretty complete in the engine detail area, sans the fuel control and lines. I am probably putting WAY to much thought into this, but I really like this kit, as well as, this aircraft. I just want to do her justice. Enjoy the weekend, Cheers fellas...... JOSH

Quick update since I have not posted any progress. Things suck right now, after my car being stolen I am now searching for a new apt. since the place I am in now is no longer availible to rent. I will prolly be away for a few weeks while I seartch for a new place.. Good news is when I do find a place it will be my own, and will finally be able to paint indoors! So yea, I am posting this in the three GB's I am involved in hopefully it gets resolved quickly. In the meantime I will be packing all my tools and kits etc etc so nothing will get done. Hopefully it doesnt take any longer than a month.

Lots of snow out there, and sometimes builds get put off for other things. Wifey and I spent a bit of time making this together after our most recent snow fall.

I think our weather is starting to return to its normal cycle here in texas. WE're supposed to go up to the mid 50's by the middle of the week. You all can keep all that cold and ice I don't like it.Dead [xx(] So hopefully I can get back to modeling this week or weekend.Cowboy [C):-)]

The "Mig" has received lots of attention, but alas it doesn't
look much different than it in the previous pictures!

Soon, I will be scribing the lines on the surface that I smoothed.
The existing lines are completely gone.

Nice snow birdie Eirc Thumbs Up [tup]

I managed to get some more work done on the corvette last night.  Too many other projects on the go right now for my liking (ie: home renovations) but I am pushing ahead.  I got the internal bracing done and I've started some of the major sub-assemblies with the aim of getting as much ready for paint as I can.

Paul, I've been looking at the WEM paints.  Do you recall what the colours were for the Snowberry?  I havn't had time to find the correct colours but I did find some interesting conversion instructions.  I'm thinking I might want to do this as the Kamloops but given everything else on my plate these days I might have to save that project for another day.

Hi All, WOW!!! lot's of catching up to do being away for 2.5 weeks like TGregory work has been horrendous, I've been replacing my boss (enjoying a conferance in Orlando) and since were about to receive a new aircraft type in March plus my regular work there is no time for Bear to play Sad [:(] add to that last week comming out of the widebody hangar I slipped on ice & sprained my ankle and knee Boohoo [BH] I was not a happy camper.  Enough of my gripping.

To ALL a BIG Thumbs Up [tup] to those who are progressing.  I myself do not have much done.  The fuselage and wing assemblys are built.  I'm now starting to fill in the seams and more sanding.  I'll be curious to see how many sanding sticks I use up on this kit it feels like every step I take there is sanding involved Grrrr.  Next week things should settle down and things should start moving on the model front, I hope.

 Cheers

Hey Bear,

Don't feel bad about your progress.  You are way ahead of me!  I am still trying to organize the basement to relocate my workbench.  Until then, I have nowhere to build.  Hope to be up and running in a week or so.

The builder of the Marder reporting back to duty after time in the sick bay.  The stomach virus that went through the school decided to make a stop in me.  I am in the process of putting togeather a new work bench and will be ready to make a flying leap into the kit.

Sounds like some of you have been having some challenges with building.  What with moving your work area or it being to cold.  I have been through that and I gotta say... I hated it!  So good luck to you all and hope you get back on track soon.  We are waiting to see your progress.  I have to tell you this is my first group build and it's fun seeing everybody's kits go together.  Great work everybody.

Thought I would show you the progress on my loco's "dash" Smile [:)]  I'm not finished with it yet.  Still more detailing and weathering to do, make it look used and not fresh off the Kriegslocomotive showroom floor.

Like Randy Quaid said just before taking out the alien ship said... "Hello boys, I'm Baaack."  Well OK ... so I never really left. So "Hello boys, I'm checking in!"  may be more appropriate.   But a crappy combo of illness/injury/real life has kept me from the benchSad [:(]

The big thing I noticed is the posts pace has dropped off from the nearly 1 page a day to just 4 pages in the last 10 days.  Everyone must be gluing, gluing, gluing.  Good progress from Paul-toz, frogfoot and results MV.  I am hoping to get some work done soon on my P-39 so I can move to the Me 262 for this build.
