OK, I have run into a bit of a snag...

In preparation for my build (in the time NOT spent organizing my bench), I have been trying to track down references.  Specifically, I wanted to get Squadron/Signals IL-2 Stormovik In Action.  Well, apparently this particular title has been discontinued.  Now, I can get it through bookfinder or amazon for between $45.00 and $119.00, but that is a little out of my range.

So, my question goes like this - anyone have a local hobby shop that happens to have one of these on the shelves or anyone got one squirreled away that they would be willing to part with, or anyone have any other ideas...?

In my case it was a snow afternoon they let us go at noon so I did get to spend some time on my build there was much rejoycing.

No rejoycing here.......  we got like 5 inches of snow, then a little bit of rain, then snow again...... adding up to 7 inches.  I was in for a surprise when I stepped outside this morning. That white stuff was really heavy Angry [:(!]

Hey razordws,

"Guests" for "3 -4 months"?!  Where I come from, we call those tenants!!! Laugh [(-D]

Anyways, I wanted to finally post some progress pics.  So here you go:

What?  Oh, you expected progress on the MODEL for this GB.  Sorry to disappoint, but at least I am showing progress at preparing to build the model.  Above is the cleared out spot for my relocated workbench.

These two shots show my paint booth to the right and the rest of my stash. (for the curious amongst you, the "caution" tape is there to remind me that the duct work is lower than my head is tall.  After splitting my melon open about 5 times, I figured I needed some sort of visual reminder Banged Head [banghead]...

Next, we have a picture of the Sturmovik that I will build, on the spot where my bench will go.

And last but not least, a shot of the bench at last in place:

Sadly, it is nowhere near as neat now as it was, so I have a bit of organizing to do before any glue will hit plastic, but at least I am making some (SLOOOOWWWWW) progress to starting!! Big Smile [:D]

P.S. Sorry those first three are a little 'jiggly looking'.  I think I had the camera on some wierd setting.  Hope to have more progress pics to post soon!  Maybe even ones of the Stormovik! Tongue [:P]

Thnaks for all the comments guys.

I LOVE SNOW DAYS.  Spent a better part of the day back and forth between the bench and helping my daughter with a big jigsaw puzzle while stuff dried.

Some cables added

View with lower wing attached

Some wiring in the gun bay and neatened up behind the IP

Airframe just about done.  The engine nacelles were glued on after the pic was snapped.

marc and everyone else, you guys are making nice progress. I've yet to start on the schnellboot, there's a certain P-61 giving me problems for the South Pacific GB that I'm trying to finish. Hopefully I should get started soon.Cowboy [C):-)]

Thnaks Dave.  Yes it is solder...the thinnest solder I have ever seen.  Don't know what size it is but it fits in a hole made with a #80 bit. I bought a Vector engine form Buffie's Best a while back and t come with it foir wiring the engine.  It is sold seperately too i think.

Great start there Marc, the office looks fantastic! Thumbs Up [tup]  What kind of wire did you use for the wiring, is it solder wire?

10 months will go by before you know it!

here are progress pics of what I have so far.  Nice kit.... great fit and all the glued up stuff and the dry fits too.  It will be mostly OOB, but add a few wires here and there.  There is a good view of the back of the IP through the windscreen so I aput some cable on the insturment... as long as Tamiya was nice enough to mold them there.

Hehe, it is indeed big, big enough to give me troubles when trying to shoot nice pics without too much background glutter, actually when I started working on it, I discovered that I wouldn't even be able to built the Revell 1/72 version because it would be longer than my table Smile [:)]

Actually, I'm not familiar with expressing dimensions in inch or feet, but according to the box, the completed model will be 659.9 mm long.

The Gato should be just over 2 feet long in 144 scale if I calculated correctly.

Hey guys thank you for all the support and prayers . Kelly says thank you very much too. Sorry about the abrupt way i put things but was kind of in a hurry and just blurted it out. The person who commited the crime was arrested the following day in South Carolina now NYC is trying to have him extrodited back here. At least there is plenty of evidence to put him away.

Glad to see progress from alot of people and even a little guy has joined the group keep us updated on his pics too.

Gonna try to get out ofthe rut this week and start on my monster of a build .

hope you are all having a great weekend :)

Ok, just started the number two on the list, being the Trumpeter 1/144 USS Gato, and here's the first pic...

Anyway, I'm glad now that the Heller 1/72 Sea King didn't get second place, because my darling wife decided it was time for our youngest (3 yo) to start handling styrene and glue...

Well, I guess that's one kit less in my stash... but one potential modeller gained Smile [:)]

BTW, the car kit you see in the background is my wife's contribution to the 2007 Powder Puff GB

Sorry i haven't been too active in this build yet, but i am almost done with my other 3 builds and with the B-25's details i don't want to rush it jsut to get it together.  I want to make this bird smokin hot, so i am gonna wait a bit more until i have time to solely work on her.  Hope that's ok with everyone
