Aw man, this is some rough news to come back here to. Sad [:(] Roy, that's just brutal, especially after relocating all that distance, plus having it be so close to the holidays just adds to it. I'm really sorry that this happened to you, buddy. Hoping and praying here that something comes along for you so you and yours don't have to tough it out for too long.

Roger, sorry about your rent issues. Hoping that you get that workbench of yours up and running again soon. Your sense of humor and wit will be sorely missed around here. Here's to hoping for a speedy return.

Mike

Just got off the phone with Roy, and it sounds like he is feeling much better about things than a few days ago.  He plans to stop by in the week or so, and have a few cocktails with the great bunch of guys here.  Cheers to all!  Make a Toast [#toast]Make a Toast [#toast]Make a Toast [#toast]

Darren-

I know!  I feel guilty this time of year being away from work as it is insane there right now!  If my co-workers knew I was laying about drinking rum, they'd hang me for sure! Dead [xx(]  Tomorrow should be a good day, and my Lady and I are off together to do some Christmas shopping and she is getting a massage while I do some shopping for her!  I just gotta show some restraint and NOT go to the LHS right down the street from where her massage is.  Wish me luck lads, as I know it's gonna be difficult!  Sorry to hear about your long work week yet ahead, but think of the satisfaction you will feel for serving England!

Darren,

I sure hope it arrives soon!  I wonder if it's better to have it arrive close to the day so it doesn't just sit there and taunt you every day!  Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

To all my good friends of the FAA GB,

As you know the family and I have been dealt a crushing setback last week.  The kindness and support that I have received from you guys is a bright spot in an otherwise very dark situation.  I have chatted with Darren (UK) via email and Frank on the phone.  Between the two have them they have been a great help during this rough time. I feel that maybe I acted a bit hasty by wanting to withdraw from the GB.  At the time the future was bleak.  As Frank put it, "The pity party is over".  (He put it in a better way)  My wife also said that staying with you guys and working on my builds would be therapeutic.

On a good note I have already set some things in motion to return to Wyoming (I miss it very much) with employment, I hope.  I hate to sound sappy but it does help knowing you guys are here to help.  Maybe some point in the future I will be in a position to repay you guys for your kindness, prayers and moral support.  The guys of the FAA GB are the bestMake a Toast [#toast]

Rick-

Outstanding work!  Looks like nice, sharp lines from you masking.

Roy-

Glad to see you buddy!  Also glad to see that you plan to stick around.  It really wouldn't have been the same without you here.  As for repayment for kindness and support, I really don't think you owe us anything- that's what buddies are for.  Of course, you may have to reciprocate the favor.  Like, maybe if I have TOO much rum and fall down and need help getting up...Propeller [8-]

Been there myself, Roy, and I know how valuable it is to have friends who are there for you, even if all that may be needed is for someone to listen.

Glad to have you back, my friend! Frank is right.....this place would not be the same without you around.

Roy it's great to have you back on line again.  I was saddened by your impending loss especially given the circumstances and the guys are right it certainly would not have been the same around her without you.

Also, thanks for the Christmas card it meant a great deal.

Cheers

Roy, glad to see your still around.  I've been in similar situations (unemployment) in recent years and it's never fun, especially around this time of year.  however, I was always able to bounce back and more often than not it worked out for the better.  I know that eventually you'll land on your feet.  I hope you and your family have a happy holidays and that good things happen in the new year! Thanks Dave, it is hard on the family but all we can do move on.  The worst part of this is that I had no warning it would happen.  Until it did, no warning signs, nothing.  We will get past this.

I've got the Fulmar together and I have sprayed the bottom Sky colour on.  Was hoping to spray the Dark Slate on tonight but was just too tired and too much other stuff to do so thought I'd post these progress pics that were taken a couple of days ago just before I buttoned it up.  I'm surprised at how large this plane is considering it is supposed to be a fighter.  It's about the size of an Avenger.

Nice work Dave!  Wise choice not trying to airbrush when you're tired, coulda been disastrous!

Couldn't agree more. Once fatigue has set in on me at the end of the day, I've found it nearly impossible to continue anything at the bench.

Looking real good so far, Dave! Thumbs Up [tup] Have there been any fit issues with this kit to this point, because the construction looks flawless.

Thanks guys, If I thought I was tired last night I'm wasted today, my 7yr old caught the flu and started up-chucking in the middle of the night.  Yuck [yuck]Dead [xx(]  I know... too much information.

Anyhooo... Mike the fit is pretty good though there were minimal locator pins so some care had to be taken with alignment.  There was a bit of a gap and a step at the wing root but nothing major.  Overall a nice change form the Dragon kits I just finished.  The thing that got me though was the upper wing had a vertical member right at the wing root and as the wheel well continues into the fuselage part there was a slab of styrene going right through the wheel well.  I managed to carve it out without too much difficulty but near impossible to fix the seam that it left.  The other thing is the radiator scoop is one piece with the fuselage and it's near impossible to fix the seam inside the scoop.

Oh one other thing, I had some difiiculty getting the canopy on and aligned with the fuselage.  I may end up with a bit of a step on one side of the canopy.
