Hawker Hurricane GB

Well, I finally got the other two long term builds off my work bench, and have got my Hurricane under way.  The office is done and closed up the fuselage tonight.  Now working on get the PE flaps setup and getting ready to close up the wings.  Will post more pics as I get further along.

I sincerely apologize for missing it.  Very nice work on this Hurricane.  I have been thinking about mine a lot lately, and am hoping to pick it back up after the crazy holiday season at work.

Finished my entry to the Hurricane GB today.  This is the Hasegawa 1/48 Mk IIC kit.  It was an easy build with only minimal construction issues.  The Hurricane is not really depicting a real Hurricane - I used the kit markings but painted it in the scheme that I consider classic for RAF fighters - dark earth + dark green and British sky S rather than the dark green + ocean gray called for in the instructions.  Completely OOB except for the antenna.  Model master acrylics with Tamiya weathering compounds and a burnt umber wash.

I think the camera must have been askew on the tripod for this head-on shot because the Hurricane does not sit unlevel.

Pictures finally.  I have put together the entire airframe and installed the canopy.  I have put down the underside color, British Sky S.

Well, I sure hope there is no timeline for completion on this.  I was at the LHS today on another hunt and checked into my order.  Low and behold still not in.  Guess I will think about getting one that he has on the shelf and get aftermarket decals to put on.  Or, I will look at maybe trying to find on online.

Sorry about his, I feel kind of bad.  You think that the size of the LHS he should have no trouble getting one model in.  Will wait a little longer.

With the sorry state of the Aggies this fall, I have been building more than I normally would during football season, so while I'm building an F-15 for another GB, I've started work on my Hurricane for this GB.  No photos yet, but I did manage today to get the cockpit together and installed into that crazy Hasegawa fuselage where the front engine portion attaches separately (and I might add, sloppily) to the rear portion.

I'll get pictures of my progress soon.

Sort of spooky actually...just last night I was going through my pile of "impending" GB-builds and had the Hobbycraft Hurricane out. Can't wait to get on it! PE 'pit parts included!

I tried to use a canopy from a Hasegawa Kit that I pillaged to add better fine details to the CA and Airfix kit but the fit was way off so i spend some time with the vac form one and it came out ok.

First one is the CA kit the second one is the Hasegawa. The Airfix is almost done. The CA kit is the best hand down no question in my opinion. A bit of extra work but the finished product looks more the part than the other two offerings.

how about this canopy It is a huge PIA. I simply gave up and I recycled an old Monogram canopy (the front winshield) to utilize it. The sliding part I am going to make from Part PE piece.

Mark i do'nt mean to jump in the middlel of your GB but i guess i missed this one when it started. I am just finishing up my third Hurricane for the BoB GB. I whish I had known about this one. I build a Classic Airframes 1/48 fabric wing a Hasegawa 1/48 Mk I and I am finishing up a Airfix 1/48 Mk I this week! The canopy on the CA kit is a major pain! I did not have much time lately but I manage few hours of Hurricane last two Weeks. Here it is as of today:

That's good news for me too as I still have alot on my "plate", not to mention my first child on the way due in December!  But I still plan to complete this build, and have even attained a PE set for this build!

I am stack with my fabric wing Hurricane these days. Basically struggling with the canopy . I hope I will pass this unpleasant experience quickly and finish this bird soon. 

GZT - I'm trying to organize my GB schedule in hopes to actually be able to finish all the builds I've committed to in the allotted times...is there an actual "end date" for this one? Couldn't find anything on the front page!

Well, I don't think Dragon is going to come through for me on my L/G issues.  I think I am stuck with the kit gear.

I am going to continue on with the parts I have, and hope for the best!

so, finally tonight I spent few minutes on my Hurricane.

I used Polyscale acrylics (Dark Earth) and ... it was a quite experience. First time using acrylics was not a very pleasent time.

This is a first coat of acryl. I may correct few spots tomorrow.
