Frank, it's a Badger 155 Anthem.  There isn't a molecule of paint or anyting else in any holes anywhere.  I'm stumped.Angry [:(!]

Greg,

Just out of curiosity, why did you wait to install the horizontal stabilizers? The fit on mine are terrible and will require quite a bit of putty. Paint looks great btw!

Brent- You got it!  As for the superglue as a filler, I gotta admit there's nothing else quite like it. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Marc- That's bloody awful!  What kind of airbrush are you using?  My old Badger 200 used to do the same thing when the little holes on the backside of the head assembly got plugged up.  As for not breathing the powder, thanks for mentioning that- I forgot to. Sigh [sigh]

Greag and Brent... good looking progress.

I went to paint the bottom last night too.  Cleaned my airbrish like I have a hundred times before.  But now when I press the trigger, the air shoots out though the cup and there was an explosion of paint. Re-cleaned and re-assembled a bunch of time and the same thing.  WHAT THE...Angry [:(!]

I have some of the polishing powder from and ancient SNJ set.  That stuff can get airbourne pretty easy so take the appropriate safety measure and where a mask and clean your area after use.  Gotta figure breathing powdered metal is a bad thing Wink [;)]

AH HA! Thank you for the info, and for the comment. So I suppose to save $$ Hasagawa just makes one mold for certain marks and then you add or delete what is needed. Makes sense.

Had a go at filling with super glue and then using acelerator for the first time tonight, WOW, is that the cat's meow! I couldn't believe how easy it was to sand with my acrylic nail sanding sticks.

Brent,

First off, nice work!  As for the panels that need to be sanded off, they are access panels for the guns on the 12-gun Hurricanes (Mk.IIb).  They had two extra guns in each wing, staggered vertically in the leading edge where the outermost leading edge insert is located on the Hasegawa kit.  There are also two shell ejection ports molded closed on the lower wing part, for when that version is built.  HTH!

Here's a photo of a Mk.IIb with the red fabric covers over the outer two guns:

Well, after a while of having to put the project on hold, I managed to get some more work done tonight. Can someone please answer me this: is there a model of hurricane that has the 3 hatches that Hasagawa molds onto the wings and then tells you to sand them off? A bit of a pain but not sure why they molded them on in the first place.

Ah well

Greg,

How about another thin coat of the acrylic paint when you get some of the powder, then rubbing it into the surface of the new coat?  Or, even rubbing it into a coat of Future applied over the aluminum paint.  Just an idea...

Greg,

The polishing powders are from SNJ, and available through Hawkeyehobbies.  After painting your parts in the appropriate colors, you wait until the paint is just slightly tacky (about 30 minutes) and then dip a Q-tip into the VERY fine powder and buff it into the paint.  It adds a level of realism to the surface that really looks like bare metal. NOPE Sad [:(] I did not about it. How do you use it ?? Single grade ?

I had a had time keeping a consistent flow Sad [:(]. I was not able to go with a very small flow rate, only the large and spray the whole wing at once. No way I could do any detailing with this paint (or airbrush Smile [:)]

Did you use their polishing powders too?  I have used those and been very happy with the effect.  I also tried using the powders on plain FUture, worked OK but not quite as brilliant as with the aluminum paint underneath.

Greg- Nope, but I am expecting some metal ones from you my friend! Big Smile [:D]

Marc- I'll check the vacuum tube when I get home to see if they arrived yet. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]  Have you looked at the L/G parts yet?  Mis-matched molds, huge seams, and ejector pin marks in very obvious places.  In fact, mine has some right on the retraction strut that almost penetrate the whole part. OK, here's my first WIP pic here, sorry it's not much.  I spent quite a while cleaning up the VERY prominent seams on the exhausts, then cleaning them up while saving the weld beads.  I looked through my references to see if these manifolds had seams down them where the plastic mold seperation line was, but didn't see any in my pics.  Finally, I hollowed out the ends.  The round ones on the ends were fairly easy, but the hemispherical ones on the front two were a real bugger.  I ended up using a .25mm round dental bur spinning in my motortool at about 100 rpm-VERY slowly.  Had to be very careful not to let the bur walk itself around and tear up the outside surfaces.  I must say I am very happy with them! Big Smile [:D]

Looking good Adam!  Great to see another ragwing Hurri here. Thumbs Up [tup]

I started my HAsegawa kit the other night, and cleaned up the resin parts and interior bits.  I found a photo in a reference book on the Hurri that showed exactly where the tubes from the IP go.  Thanks Marc for your help!  Today, I worked on cleaning up the exhausts.  Lots of cleaning up to do on those, and unfortunately Hasegawa located them on the sprue facing the same direction.  This means that one of them will have the side with the ejector marks facing up.  If they could have just reversed one, then you could position them with the indentations from the pins facing down out of sight on both.  Come on Hasegawa!  Tamiya can do it, why can't you?  Sorry. Grumpy [|(]

Looking great everyone!

Here's a quick update on my CA Mk I build.

I finished the cockpit up, glued the wing and fuselage halves together and began sanding... It's going to be along process.

I initially tried to glue the cockpit in prior to joining the fuselage halves (against someones advice on here...) and it popped out while I was joining the fuselage halves. So I guess its going in through the bottom after I'm done sanding. Oh, and just so someone doesn't think I am forgetting the shoulder harness...I am going to put that in after paint and weathering as I plan to drape it outside of the cockpit as they did when on alert.

Keep up the good work,

Adam
