Well, here's my logical thinking; I'm not looking to keep anyone out, the more the merrier. But, the idea of the group build is to build alongside other members to share tips and ideas. It's more than just people who like corsairs, it's about sharing the commonality of the build, to build alongside other members - a virtual workshop, if you will.
If you're 99% complete before we start and most likely will be completely finished before the rest of the group starts, you're missing the key component of being in a group build - building with the group. Now if he were to pick up a second corsair to build along with us, I'd put him on the list, no questions asked. But as it stands, neither he nor the members of the GB really stand to benefit. He gets a badge without actually participating in the build itself, and he doesn't really learn any building tips from us, nor us from him.
It's like walking along the road and a marathon comes up behind you when you're 10 feet from the finish line. Do you share in the celebratory process the same as the people who ran the 26 miles or share their comraderie?
I'm just concerned that the meaning of the GB badge will lose all meaning if we just hand it out to people who just happen to claim that they like the subject we're modeling without actually participating in the build.
But like I've said, I'll leave it up to the majority of the GB. I'll give it till the end of the week so more members get a chance to weigh in.
Though, this does pose an interesting area of debate. I may pose this question in the aircraft forum, just to see what the current thinking on this is.
