Hi Gig,

I just remembered, I have the reboxed Hasegawa -5N in my stash as well... And I have Italeri's -5n in 1:72, and Superscale markings for a Korean nightfighter unit in both scales. Omigod, such choice! So little time!

I'll let you know!

Alright, I know it is April 1 somewhere on the World Party [party] I am excited and Ready Propeller [8-] Crud~ I just realized my callender is several months off and tomorrow is not the First Black Eye [B)]

Question for you PE guys, I bought a PE Interior Details for my Trump 1/32 Corsair mainly because mine did not come with the Dash (?) Would it be worth my time to buy one of those benders or just use small pliars and tweezers for bending ? The $40.00 or so is not going to set me back, take food off the table or upset the wife  ect ect.. Mainly would it be worth my agravation to use this bending tool for this one project ? As 99% of my models are OOB's.

Summit, get the tool. Even if you only use it for this build, it will be worth it. But why stop with the pit. Get the rest of the detail sets for it and dazzel us and yourself. Thenthe tool will have paid for its self.Unfortunatly Eduards only has one small set for the Revell(which I have, thank you). But seriously, you will use more PE later on and the tool is worth it. I know.....Harv

I haven't used one of those bending tools yet, but I want to.  However, If you don't want to pay for the bending tool, you can go the inexpensive rout.  Get a pack of razor/box opener blades from your local hardware store.  They're pretty cheap.  You can use one to hold your part, slide the other under your part and use them as a bender.  They work very well.  You can also use X-acto type blades and tweezers.

Summit,

which tool were you thinking of getting?  I'm always considering getting a PE tool - and I use tons of PE, so I would probably actually benefit from it.  Just some of the prices are a bit outrageous.

Fred, I really had not started Brand shopping as I know very little about them. Most likely I would order the Etch Mate from Micro Mark Tools. ($49.00) Does anyone Have any other Preferences ?

Chris thanks for the tips, I had seen that method done many years back and thought I might resort to that. But I think I will go ahead and Order a Bender.

Sean, this is what I use here and it is perfect for aircraft. It's cheaper than most others and has more features on it also.

For building one plane with etch, I would not likely buy it. You choice though, just my opinion.

Cheers

Summit I use the old/original Etch Mate PE tool and being the ham fisted clod I am, the results I can get out of the Etch Mate are far superior to anything I try with pliers and blades.

Fred, sorry I didn't give you a lot of details on my build just a box top.  It's the 1/48 Hasegawa F4U-5N.

Cheers

Hmmm...now you guys really have me considering picking up one of these etchmate things.  I've stayed away from complex PE details because it was tough working with tweezers and box-blades, but if it's as easy as you guys claim, maybe I'll break down and get one.

Dang Harv, I just got rid of a Verlinden # 1518 Resin cockpit on ebay last week. If I had known you were looking for one I would of sent it your way. Ashamed [*^_^*]  I still have not ordered a PE Bender yet, still trying to decide on what brand.

Darn Sean, I swear this GB is cursed! Awhile back when I started to look for the Corsair, I believe it was Frank  had just sold one on ebay. Now you with the pit!! Oh well, it would have cost just as much in shipping if I hadn`t of ordered it, so it worked out. Thanks for the UUHH news.......Harv

Yep, it was me. Disapprove [V]

Sorry Harv.

BTW, is 1/32 the only scale you build?  Do you have any 1/48 stuff?

Sorry Frank, all I build is 1/32. Always have since I can remember. Just something about that scale. If I had the room and they had a better selection of kits, I`d probebly be doing 1/24! I do have a B17 in my stash though.........Harv

Sean, no I havent. But ever since I can remember, I have been a HUGE fan of large scale RC aircraft. One of my uncles took me to my fist model air show back in the late 50`s when everything was still control cables. There was a guy there with the most beautiful B29 I`ve ever seen!! Unfortunetly he couldn`t keep all 4 engines running and never got off the ground. There was one MIG15 I belive that was jet powered. Talk about a hand full on control cables. I think it took 2 guys and big cables to fly it. If I won the lotto, I would defently have a SHOP to display all the humugus aircraft I`d build!!!.............Harv

HArv-

Right before I got out of R/C, a guy from around here started bringing out huge, I mean HUGE models to the field.  Here's a link to his page.

Holy crap Frank, when you said those babies were HUGE I didn't think you meant H-U-G-E Shock [:O].  They must look awesome flying around and I imagine that from a distance only the engine noise would give them away as being models.

Fred I bought myself the Etch Mate through Great Models as a Christmas present for myself a couple of years ago and while I can't say I use it every day, it sure is a very handy piece of kit to have around.  Oh and thanks for updating my build on Pg 1.

I got a delivery confirmation from Hobby Easy on the PE seatbelts that I have ordered for my Corsair, now I'm just waiting for the decals and the seatbelts to arrive.

Cheers

Darren- Yep, H-U-G-E!  I saw the Liberator, Lancaster, and He-111 fly.  They looked to be the size of Cessna's up there! Shock [:O]

Well i got my 20mm Hispano's ordered, i also found a couple pairs of 500 pounders from true details, unfortunately they were out of 1000 pounders. i also got some 100 pounders to carry under the wings instead of rockets since i wasn't able to find any besides the British WWII rockets, a weird load out i know but think about it.... it's a El Salvadorian F2G, who knows what kind of load out they would have on it.

Count me in for a Hasegawa 1/48 F4U-4. i was looking through aftermarket weapons for rockets for my F2G and found a 1/48 set from accu mini with bombs, rockets, depth charges, torpedos, etc... so i'm going to make a fictional Corsair V for Anti-Submarine Warfare, i might even modify the cowling to fit in a R4360 Wasp Major.

Yup, I ordered The Bug today as well.  Maybe now, I'll be able to make actual 90* bends in PE instead of "close enough" Laugh [(-D]

Harv,

Do you mean the actual GB badge, or the one in my signature line?  The one in my signature is a smaller version of a print I have by Stan Stokes. Big Smile [:D]
