Hi Mike,

Monogram! Wow, that would be 1970s vintage on the molds, 1980s at the latest? Is that a rescribing job I see on the upper surfaces? So, our Do 17s are similar vintage, same scale -- it'll be most interesting to compare them! I find I'm interested in this type, I've always known it was there but now I've had a chance to research it and see what a sturdy, stiff airframe it was, with so many refinements and modifications over the years, I'm interested in doing a few more. May I ask what number the Superscale sheet was?

Cheers,

TB379/Mike

Wowzers oh wowzers! So much at once my brain is overloading! Simply spectacular SC! I am busting at the seams that you got a Hurricane in the air! Looks great! I am still trying to get one perfect as well. Hope my next one gets as close as you did!

Sidure! That looks like it is going to be a big kit even in 1/72. Coming along nicely and really am excited to see a 4 engined bird here. Not to common in BOB.

Mike what can I say that 30 plus year old kit in 1/72 looks like the real deal. OPening the crew compartment could not have been easy. The figures add so much life to the scene as well.

The photography is unmatched. The way the scene comes together really lets you visualize being on the field in 1940. Unreal work all the way around!

Really glad to be included with such awe inspiring hobbyist! Bow [bow]

Rick, Karl & Frank, thanks for your comments on the pit. Smile [:)]  Still haven't closed it up yet.

Mike, that is one sweet looking build!  I remember building that kit a couple of times when I was twelve or thirteen years old (which was a few years ago Blush [:I]) From what I remember you did an awesome job on a vry old kit.

SC, great work on the Hurricane.  Can't wait to see the other two. Thumbs Up [tup]

Steve, looking forward to seeing your build coming together.

Woo hoo, awesome stuff chaps.

Dave, i missed your 109 pit. Its looking sweet. Thats the hardest part over. Just throw g lue at the box and the rest just builds itself Big Smile [:D]

SC, Loving the Hurricane. Camo and decals look spot on. Were in trouble on this side of the channel if your wagwing comes as nice.

Steve, I think im anticipating this build the most. The condor is one of those planes that ive always wanted but always had an excuse why not to get one. Those things were huge as well. Do you have another 1/72 build to compare sizes?

Mike, Oh man. Youve raised the bar with that beauty. Glasswork, paint, camo everything. Just looks right to me, and the vintage photo. Awesome fella Bow [bow]

First of I'm not saying a single word about "Glam" shots that have appeared over the last couple of pages other than MY EYES!

Right now onto the serious issue of some seriously good models, Mike (SC) & Mike (luftwaffle) outstanding work on both your builds they really do look great.

Mike,

I actually didn't do any rescribing, mostly because I hate rescribing.  Although it's not real evident in the photos I faded the interior of the panels and then hit the panel lines with some Tamiya smoke.  I'm pretty happy with the overall effect.

The decals are actually from Techmod, I got them from Great Models.

 Hey Mikester and Soul Mike!

De Ja Vu on the panel lines........ I think your results prove your point!

SC I am having the same ridiculas issue with GM! Stalled for 3 weeks now waiting for a couple resin engines and Photo-etch Frets. Yesterday I get a message that my order had shipped, so I check and things shown as in stock all this time they are suddenly searching for! Not shipped! Angry [:(!] Angry as a Bruce Banner inside a Bee Hive!

Wrote a stern but well mannered letter expressing my disappointment and boom there they are back in stock! But still not shipped! At this point I'm looking else where. There loss! SoapBox [soapbox]

i know what you mean there Aaron. Nothing agrevates me more when an online store shows stock on an item then B/O it on you! As someone who managed a large invertory for seven years i know there is no excuse for this. it is either one of two things. Sloppy inventory practices or stealing a sale by showing you have something you don't to get an order then making the consumer wait when they could have ordered it from someone who actually has the item and can ship it imediatly. Alot of items I order I do not care about time frame because I am collecting them for a future build but in my case as is yours they are holding us up. I hope you get you stuff soon Aaron. As for me my patience end tonight at midnight!

Grumpy [|(] Yeah SC. My frustration is compounded by the fact I re-order in stock items at once when there was an issue. When they shipped my stuff ysterday it wasn't included. Said special orders searching, But that afternoon was back in stock still not shipped. My patience is done as is my business. They used to be so good with a good user friendly site but my last 3 orders have been way too painful.

Mike, great job on the Dornier, looks a lot bigger than 1/72.

The weathering looks top notch, that good and used look.

SC, the Hurricane looks excellent.

Hope you get the decals sorted soon.

I still haven't sorted out the aerial mast on the 111 yet, as it is yellow, and I hate painting yellow, especially on something 15mm long.

So, in the mean time the Hurricane is out of the box!

Fuselage is together, few fit problems as the fuse halves were warped on my kit, but nothing a little glue and filler won't sort out.

Hey! Karl Have you decided on the markings for your Hurricane?

Remember the 1 day wonder snap Spitfire by Pegasus I did? I Just found and bought the Hurricane now. Jumping on the band wagon I guess. See what you started SC?  This is a Hurricane MK I flown by Witold Urbanowicz. Top scoring Polish ace for the BOB. Code RF E of the Polish 303rd Squadron RAF.  Just in case I get a hankering for another quickee!

Well done Guy!  That was a seriously well built model, glad they saw that and rewarded it accordingly.

Maybe you could show that optivisor photo of yours somewhere and win a "weirdo of the month" award too! Laugh [(-D]

I managed to finish my Bf-109E-4 this morning, here she is!  I couldn't figure out a way to get a good shot of the bottom, perhaps later I'll figure out a way.  The last photo is her sitting next to my other "Black 8" that I built last year.  Looks like the Luftwaffe has another bird for escort duty!  OOOOWWWW! you guys are killing me! You know I just caved and bought one of those E-3 Tamiya 109 thingies! OOOOWWWWW! Exceptional job Frank you have come a long way from that propeller! Whistling [:-^] Now you have got a beastly bad acting 109E-3 to be proud of and make me wish there were more days in a week to have time for one myself! All the 109's here are just unbelievable. Might have to give up on sleep. And eating, and Se....... nope not giving that up.

Guy, congradulations on both awards... er... okay, maybe just the one for your model! Clown [:o)]

Frank, absolutely impeccable, stupendous and all the other adjectives that apply.  That spinner looks top notch as does the mottle.  You've really nailed this one and taken it to an all new level.  If there was such a thing as a four thumbs up award this would be it.

AS for mine, the modeling is on hold for a bit as home reno's and job issues are taking up all my time.

Aaron, Dave, and Mike- Many thanks fellas!  I love that Tamiya kit, almost builds itself. Thumbs Up [tup]  Aaron- You're gonna have a great time when you build yours, as it's a teeny weeny bit easier to build than those blasted FM kits. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Hi all,

Luftwaffle -- Techmod? I'm impressed! The style of the instructions made me think Superscale. I must source a few of their sheets, they're very good! So, a countershade job on the panel interiors, then shadow the lines themselves. Okay! I wish I could trust my AB to do that but at the moment I don't! I might try preshading, though...

sfcmac -- I can only agree. I'm still waiting for goods from GMW and it must be getting on for two months. They said they were waiting on one item to come into stock to ship together and save postage, but this is getting rediculous. I have a Merkava that's in limbo because the PE sets are suspended waiting on a Corsair cockit that has left the Squadron catalog and may not be actually available at all... I must drop them a line.

Frank -- I'm wowed, man! Stupendous! I can't wait for mine to arrive, the package has gotta be on the doorstep soon! VERY good work, I must archive these shots as reference!

Continuing with the scribing on my Matchbox pencil, I'm nearly there, one wing underside, one fuselage half and all the cowl/nacelle parts left to go. Lines crossing the midline will bde done after assembly. I'll need RLM-02 and RLM-04 for both the Do 17 and the Me 109, so I might as well pick them up in the near future, maybe next week.

Cheers,

TB379/Mike

Mike,

I think we have some miscommunication here.  I used Techmod decals on my Do 17, this was after I screwed up a unit emblem I was going use on the Superscale sheet.  The instructions I emailed you and the decals that are in the mail to you are Superscale.

Here's the Techmod sheet I used:

Hi Mike,

Gotcha! No wonder the instructions reminded me of Superscale's layout... Big Smile [:D]

I find myself interested in putting together some more Do 17s in a variety of schemes -- the Finnish markings are colourful. So here's an interesting point -- is there a thoroughly modern kit of this subject or are we working mainly with old faithfuls, Airfix, Monogram, Matchbox? I can't bring any others to mind at this time, I might have to do put the whole question to the knowledgible folks at Google!

Guy nice job on the award! Its always is nice to be rewarded for a nice build. Frank she looks awesome! Whats with this turncoat stuff. Just when you think you know who's on your side! I am on a complete hold due to lack of parts. No Airfix kit to build and still no decals for the CA kit! So I have started my Fw 190 D for that group build. Doing the Tamiya D-9. So far she has been a breeze!
