Hey Stan I have "flashed" many powertrain control modules in my day for  Chrysler. it was pretty simple if you folllow the proper procedure or someone does not unplug the cord in the middle of the flash. Good luck training the neubs!

Beautiful work Guy! Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]  I recently read Galland's book "The first and the Last"  Interesting read but he spent more time talking about politics than about his combat experiences.  Par for the course I suppose.

Stan, thanks for explaining the differences.  Some of the German marking system gets confusing, expecially with the 109.

I snipped sprue on my Tamiya 1/72 Bf 109 E4 last night.  I'm almost finished the other build on my desk and I'm eager to start on this one. I also took out the half finished Italeri Fiat Br 20M and had a look.  Now I remember why it hasn't been finished. Yuck [yuck]  Lots of seam work to sort out yet but I still hope to get'er done.  I won't (re)start that until later though.  I need a quick easy build first.

Stan the Messerschmiitt MAN !  Too cool thanks for the info! You have definately had your Vitamins and coffee.  Am I to understand you do trains as a hobby as well? If you ever need photos of stuff let me know. I don't have any scale stuff other than 1/1 but don't hesitate if you need a resident expert on trains. Gotta ring the bell and toot the whistle again tonight.

OOPs really need to learn t read. Train noobs is not a forume for Ho scale hobbist. LOL duh?! Oh well the offer stands if anyone is into trains.

I haven't fallen in the drink just yet. from time to time I have to go a train noobs no how to "flash" update a cars onboard computer. these two just were not up to the task.

In a nut shell E's 1 thur 3 were all the same. E-4's were still E 1/3 with a uprated 20MM in the wings and added armor around the fuel pump/tank and pilots head. E-5/6 were recon mechines. and E-7/8's were E-1/4's with added bomb/drop tanks. The luftwaffe just kept updating the old E's. These aircraft even kept there same work #, they just carried the new sub varient number. Some "new" E-7/8 were built but not many. As mentioned the spinners had a few differences depending on engine armerment. Trops or sever duity E's only differed in having the trop filter and some could of had slightly larger tires.

There were changes internal to oil, cooling, and electrical systems but these were not detectable by outward appearance. So basically if you have mechine guns in the wings it's an E-1/3. 20mm E-4. A drop tank or bomb rack E-7/8. Cameras installed E-5/6. because of constant upgrading you can easily have an E-1 that now has 20mm's and a drop tank, thus the equiptment tells you what time period you are looking at.

Guy- Outstanding work fella!  Beautiful job, seems like only yesterday it was still in the paint shop.  Looks like the Luftwaffe is in good shape so far, hopefully the RAF will catch up soon!

Note to self- FINISH the Spitfire!!!

I believe another difference in the Emil is the shape of the spinner, though I don't have the exact info in front of me.

Guy- Beautiful work on Galland's Emil!  I always liked the high demarcation line scheme, very clean looking airplane.

Holy moly! That's a lot to dig through please do it at your leisure. I don't want to see you jiggered! I just have a bit of curiosity about Galland's aircraft because it seems I spoke with an old vet pilot. I'm not certain but he had some good storys about the BOB. That is a long story though. Would like to see  or make some compilation of his Aircraft.

I think you are right on the money about the cowlings. I know the engone was uprated with flattened piston heads and higher octane fuel in the 4. Musta got mixed up with the D version. Serves me right posting before I had my coffee. Do you have the ref about it being Galland's mount. Oddly I seem to be short of Tamiya E-3 kits in my stash.  Plenty of E-4's though. Hey thx Aaron glad you like her. She is an E-3. Im pretty sure the engine cowl, from looking at my refs, stayed the same through E-1 - E-7. The main difference between the '1' and the '3' was the addition of the two wing mounted 20mm. Each carrying 60 rounds. They also gave the distinctive bulge under the wing. Also the E-3 had improved cocpit armor. Some did, some didnt. Mine doesnt. The pic i have of Gallands plane doesnt have head aromor, so i left it out. It said it was optional in the distructions.

Im sure theres far more 'well read' experten who will let us no of other differences. Which i look forward to hearing as well.

Smashing job there Guy! I am amazed at how fast you got it done and it looks like da bomb all painted with minimal weathering? I think it is very convincing. I am starting to feel safe with Stan and your Emils. Think Frank has a wingman coming soon too! I'll quote the movie when the formations 1st turned on London. , Vo est der RAF?

Is your version an E-3?  Forgive me I forgot my  Messersmitt vitamin and am learning some of the diffs. Your cowling looks to have a slightly different shape to it. May be my tired eyes.

Where is the man with the Mustache and cigar? Hmmmm Laugh [(-D]

May have to try one of those myself someday. You say it just fell together?

Actually Guy now I'm even more confused. I just realised I'm not married! I have not had a beard myself so I'm not really sure now where it came from. If your still interested I would still be willing to send it to you as I do not believe I have any use for it at the momentBig Smile [:D]. Now if I could only figure out where this extra spinner I found under the bed came from. It was next to that gentlemens magazine I had stashed under there! I am highly suspicious of the underpants Gnomes but I have no conclusive evidence at this time.

Aaron Bow [bow] Shes creamy fella. Really sweet job. Thx for reposting more pics, they look a whole lot better from this side of the channel. You can now wear your GB badge with pride. Like Frank, my 109 (Piloted by Galland himself) is winging his way towards you for escort duty. Decals are on, next up a coat of shiney then some dirt. Woo hoo.

Hey thanks fellows. Guy I was in a bit of a rush last night as the sun was setting and my camera stinks with the shop lights. I also like you did what I could before leaving for work so here are a few more pics. The ones on the diorama grass our outside on the Bar-B-Q table under the intense Texas Sunshine.Cowboy [C):-)] As far as your Mum? Well I would like to shake your Pops hand........Laugh [(-D] Still think it was you that found that missing part.

I'll start with the worst pic 1st. Took it with a flash under the monitor light to try to get a peek inside and at those tiny gunsites. I don't know how successful I was.

rjkplasticmod ? Love mad magazine... The clear parts were indeed a bear of a task especially the one with the bombsight on the lower nose. If you have followed Chucks Hell diver thread I use a lot of the same filling techniques. On clear parts once mask I fill the edge with testors clear parts cement and the primer coat of Mr Surfacer 1000 over ot when dry blended and smoothed it out nicely. Really effective for those nasty vacuform canopies as well. But what me worry?Cool [8D]

razordws  Thanks a bunch how long was it time wise Like from June 22nd. More work than I thought.

mark983  I don't understand the marking system either.Make a Toast [#toast]

Soul Mender er I mean crusher the history I posted clearly stated that it took way more than just one Hurricane to down this baby. Better get busy and I am glad you like it!Big Smile [:D]

Frank !!!  Did you already finish the Spit? That mottleing looks well done and sounds difficult. I have seen pre-cit mask for mottleing has anyone ever tried them.  I like the blended look of yours Frank I wonder how well a mask would capture that look? Any ways Sc is out for me Hurry!

Mike! Yep went with the pink. I believe that the white on yours is correct. If you notice the swastika  on the tail is also centered which is an older scheme. I have and old magazine somewhere that explained the bar markings and the pink color as being a result of the originals being painted red but then not being visable enough for use in establishing position in the formation. I think most were in fact white as you have portrayed. Only a few Do-17's and JU-88's were listed as having pink markings as far as I know.

Lastly I wanted to get this one in to let Darren know I'm still thinking of him and his wife. Missing you here guy but understand you are taking care of business!  Continueing hope and prayre for her speedy recovery and your sanity. Have to save ye a spot o rum or 12. I hope you get this pic before guy... gets to it. Shock [:O]

Thanks to all who follow along and are participating. Looking forward to seeing some really good stuff to put me to shame.Thumbs Up [tup]
