Nice kit, spiral...

Just dropping in to remind you that the Fantasy Fliers GB kicked off, too.

I'm still on for yours as well!

Cheers,

Hi Red,

I'll try my best to get both kits done. I'll stop in the GB and say hello.

Well, I started the Bullet yesterday.  Not much to show picture-wise; just been adding some styrene detail to the resin 'pit.

When I get to a point of something being picture worthy, I'll be more than happy to snap a few.

Hi Fred,

I'm looking forward to seeing that Bullet. I've had my eyes on the kit for some time now.

Well, I think I finished major construction of the cockpit.  Now I just have to get it painted up.

Drilled out the exhaust ports, but I need to get some correct sized tubing before I can button it up.

I'll post pics of what I have, tonight; though it's not much to look at.

After placing my N-1M in hiatus to wait for October 1, I got wrapped up in some other projects that now fill my bench.  Not to fear, I hope to make some progress on a figure set over the next week, and then devote my attention to this build.  I did mange to work on cleaning up the leading edge some more about a week ago, and I did install the engine mounts and lower rear wheel and fin.  I will see about getting a photograph taken before I add the paint to the exterior.

Hi,

I'm glad to see you checked in. It's been a bit slow in this GB so far. I know I'm trying to find a bit of time to build myself. I'll probally start on my cockpit this Sunday. I'll be sure to post some progress pics.

I just did a pre-fit of my Czech Model "Dark Sark".

Czech Models do not have tab fttings to keep you fuslage in place. It's a bit like building a vacuform kit. The fit was not very good on my kit. This should be another learning experience for me. Black Eye [B)]

Well, after working late every night for a week and change, here's the pics I promised way back when

pit side walls and side IPs

1 fuselage half with exhaust drilled out

And tub, seat and center IP

I hope to get it painted soon and then maybe get some construction done on the rest.

Well, the instructions are pretty poor.  Without knowing how the real thing looks, you might be a bit confused.  The fuselage halves seem to line up ok, but I haven't got the pit installed yet, so that might change.

Some of the itty bitty resin pieces came busted, so I'll have to scratch those from styrene.

I spent most of this morning rebuilding my airbrush.  Something dried in the nozzle, so I had to tear it all down and put it back.  Looks to be ok now, so maybe I can get to painting.

I really hate the fact the these Czech kits dont have the fit pins to keep everything in place. It feels like Im assembling a vacuform kit.

Hope your brush works smooth. for you. Good luck, and i hope to see some more pics soon. That plane your building is a great looking bird.

Well, I got to working on the wheel wells last night only to find that they gave me two left bays and no right bay.  And of course, the bays are side specific.  So I had to hack one up and use peices of that one and  a piece of styene to fake it.

Thankfully, saturday's looking to be a really miserable day, so maybe I'll get some work done.

I'm sorry to hear about the wheel well problems.

I'll be working Saturday so my bench time will be Sunday once again. I need to clean all my cockpit parts and possibly get a prime coat on the fuselage halves.

A "kit" like this will make you appreciate the tamigawa's of the world. :)

I must say, if one goes to the work to mill a mold....why the *&^ dont you cad in another few lines, chuck up another bit, and mill the obvious things.

There's no great sense of accomplishment in "playing" with a part to get it centered up.... Its like a job half done, these molds that made the parts.  While I can appreciate the obscure planes, this will be my one and only special hobby brand kit. not at $30 , its not worth it.  Cool [8D]

I have a Special Hobby Fokker D.XX1, it's actually a nice kit. I'm sorry to see that yours seems a bit sparse.

Did not work on it much last night...had to watch some of the Halloween season horror movies on tv..

my take on buiding this is, dont follow the instructions....or the picture instructions.

since there are not any real locating places, and it seems the cockpit/front wheel and intake, dont really have the right contours to follow the Fuselage closely.

so after a lot of putzing with it, I assembled the Fuselage first. the aforementioned parts will slif in from the bottom.

On the cockpit, I left off the Instrument panel, and also installed it after the cockpit was in place. Nothing in the cockpit area is going to follow the contours well, and the gaps are huge. So one has to consider this a "view from several feet away" model.

to install the Intake thingy, I tacky-glued a toothpick to the back of it and slid it in to the fuse. this let me align it, and then I glued it. it too has gaps, and darn it the gaps are at the top and bottom on the Intake "cone" thing-shape.  Can you guess I dont know Jet part names lol.

the exhaust cone thing will/does fit into an assembled fuse, although not seen, I need to go pt it on after this post, cause it wil need a dollop of filler for sure.

The wings were fun too..... top and bottom parts go together ok, but the fuse fit is a test of patience and a steady hand.  It is NOT going to line up well, so just look for the bset overall comprimise, that being a best dihedral and 90deg to fuse fit.

the horiz stab is also a test of patience, so just a drop of slower glue to putz around with while you line it up in all directions.

do have some .01 card stock handy you will need it!
