Prototype GB All Era's

I may forego the gear/wheels on this one, and try to cover the wheel wells.

Then use clear rod to mount it in a flying position to a base.

I guess a person just makes a hole in the bottom of the fuse to fit the rod, and apply glue as required ?

If you look on ebay you can probally find a nice base to apply to this plane, dirt cheap. Probally less than 5.00 US.

I have a base from an old snap on kit i may use to finnish up my P-39 thats sitting arouund with a broken strut.

You could ask around on this forum, someone may have a base that they would be willing to send you for the cost of shipping.

Do you mean a base with the clear curved rod included ?

Landing gear doors now glued on :)

should be putting on a primer coat in about an hour or two. Canopy glue need to fully dry.

Well, I made a little bit of progress yesterday.  I managed to line up the cockpit and nose wheel bay into one half of the fuselage.

I also assembled the counter-rotating prop system.  I still waiting on some tiny styrene tubing to make the exhaust pipes.  After I get that done, it's on to the overly-complicated struts.

The part I'm not looking forward to at all, is the wing installation. There's no real way to mount the the wings except copious amounts of glue

need to paint the jet exhaust nozzle section (or paint over in this case).

the Landing gear struts under the wing.....they are the same....no left/ right.. idiots. when you key the holes and attaching parts.....uhh...then you cant make them duplicates.

wish I has closed up the gear doors. this landing gear is total crap fit.

What's really a HOOT, is they put in 2 pieces of Photo-etch for the front gear.  Why bother ?

back to the base and clear rod display.  the gear is such a joke, what with the wheels hanging loose and falling out and such....

on the bright side, I wont have to mess with any more silver paint  in the AB till the next build :)

Well, here's where it stands after working on it over the weekend

The exhaust tubes are the outer sheathing from some thick wire I found in Evergreen catalog.  It was the only way I could get a 1/16" tube.

Most of the fiddly resin bits for the landing gear came broken, so it'll be a while till my next update, while I scratchbuild a whole lot of replacement parts from styrene

Anyone mind if I switch from the XB-35 Flying Wing to the XF-12 Rainbow? The big Northrop is frankly a BAD model, while the Rainbow, by Anigrand, looks superior.

The maker of the TSR2 was BAC.  It was designed as a Mach 2+ capable Tactical Strike Reconaissance aircraft.  Like the Avro Arrow it ultimately fell victim to politics.  The program was cancelled when the British decided to procure the F-111, a program which eventually was cancelled as well.  Airfix made a 1/72 kit a couple of years ago, and it looks like they will be coming out with a 1/48 kit eventually. The 1/72 kit had a limited production run and hasn't been seen since, although it is/was well supported by the aftermarket.  There was a resin kit produced whose name escapes me now, but was featured in a past (way past) issue of FSM.

Well I just checked ebay; the only items I could find were a hand full of books and a few wooden assembled kits.

It's going to be tough to find as I think they made 5000 units available worldwide.  I remember getting excited cause Squadron had them in the May flyer that year which coincided with their open house (come to Scalefest next year and wander the halls of Squadron) and I planned on picking one up then.  When I got there they had already sold out and weren't getting any more.  When I asked a buddy of mine about it, he said they only produced about 5k units and if you didn't preorder you were sol.  Hopefully they'll repop the 72 when they release the 48.

I'd get all over the 1/48 when she is released- It'll go fast and it's a really nice aircraft, too. It's about the same size as a F-111 so big is not too big.

basically it did everythin the tornado did at least as well years before it. it was a damn good aircraft that got killed by politics. i beleive it used a version of the concord/vulcan engines too 30,000 lb thrust each!

Yes- Airfix did the 1/72 a couple of years back and it was limited. I picked up two and a buddy gave me one as a gift. I  have all the Xtradecal 'what if ?' decals too.

I'll try and pick up a couple of the 1/48 when it's out as well. I have the 1/48 dynavector TSR2 in vacform which looks good when built, but I haven't done mine as yet.

I'ts been getting rather frigid here in Illinois. I actually found some time for my kit last night. I plan on doing a bit more today. I'll also post progress pics when my cockpit is assembled.

Sad to say the same output as the two J79's in the Phantom II. But was designed as a nuclear strike bomber.

I don't see it working; either the F-4 or the later F-111 wins. The Tornado is a whole other story.
