For the amount of trouble that you experienced, the end results look great!   I have some Czech kits in my stash, and after reading your comments, maybe they will stay there even longer. I had a similar experience this past weekend with the junk decals that ICM places in their kits which cracked when placed in water.

I hope to be spending some time with my N1M Jeep in the next couple of weeks (once I finish off one more project occupying my bench).  In the mean time, here is where the kit stands to date, ready for masking and yellow paint.

I cant find anything. I have a book with some good exterior pics but nothing for the cockpit detail.

Nicely done!  A Very Merry Christmas Eve to you and all!

For an update, I did get the yellow paint on, finished the propellers (they are two-tone wood on the lower half, yellow on the upper half, and with a chrome leading edge), and painted the landing gear.  I should have it wrapped up in the next few days, and will post photos then.

Thanks!  It is a unique looking plane, and a rather unique kit from Sword.  I have some other projects needing my attention, but I may jump back in later on with one of my Sword 1/72 Northrop N-9M planes.  I will continue to follow the group in the mean time.

Jump back in when ever you like ! I will begin working in earnest on the Dark Shark. I just cant find many detailed cockpit photos on her. It's driving me buggy!

I was going to inquire about adding an Aichi M6A Seiran, and then I noticed that there is already one in the group in 1/48 scale.  I would like to add mine in 1/72 scale (the Tamiya kit), if you do not mind, as I am building it to display next to my I-400, which I am also starting.  Let me know if there is any problem with this, otherwise I will post in-progress shots as soon as I make some progress.

Feel free to jump in with any Prototype you like, as long as it actually logged in a few minutes of flight time.

i dont think the 264 logged any flight time. I havent read anything on the Comet but if logged at least a few minutes of flight time than its ok for this group.

I have begun construction on my Tamiya 1/72 Aichi M6A1 Seiran.  Here is the cockpit installed in the starboard side of the fuselage prior to me gluing the two sides together, as well as a shot of the port side interior.  I apologize if there is some bluriness in the photos, but 1/72 scale is a bit of a challenge to photograph up close and personal.  The colors also seemed to change in the photographs, and I have no idea why.  I could only find one interior photo of the real plane on the internet, and I think the green is fairly close.

I cant beleive you started another project and I still have my first project sitting on my bench.

If I could find some cockpit photos of the Shark I would get this thing moving.

Well, I ran into a major glitch on Sunday resulting in my need to obtain a new kit , and yes, it is that bad.  This is the first time in several years that I have actually done damage that is beyond repair.  I am half considering tearing the fuselage halves apart to recover and reuse the cockpit floor.  I will see what mood I am in when the replacement kit arrives (hopefully this weekend).

I did some looking through my many reference books, and I have found nothing on the interior of the Ryan Shark.  I picked up the Squadron mini In Action book several years ago, but as you probably know, there are no interior photos included.  I will continue to look, and will let you know if I happen to run across something.

The replacement kit arrived, and it is now in progress.  I am hoping to put on the underside paint later today.

I was working on mine last night. I ran into a few problems...

The placards I was usings for the intrument panel are no good. The paint rubs off much too easy and leaves me with a small disc of white after punching it from the placard.

I may continue as is. I just want to complete this thing and move on to a new project.

I just started actually doing some real work on my kit. Im affraid the cockpit will be a bit bare. I couldnt find any photos of the real deal. (cockpit that is..)

Well, as I stated in previous post I couldn't find interior photos of the Dark Shark. So I decided to do this straight from the box with the exception of some counsel placards and seatbelts I had in my stash.

Placards turned out to be useless. The dials detail rubbed right off the card after it was punched and ready to insert. (I decided to leave them as they are). The rest of the cockpit is barren of detail; I decided to leave this alone also being that I don't have any pics of the Sharks cockpit.

This is by far one of my least favorite projects in quite some time. I'm not happy with the results and yet I don't have the will power to fix them up.I posted a pic of the cockpit. This is as good as it will get with the exception of a little weathering.

I tried to get a better pic of the pit, so here it goes...

A little bench work this afternnon. I silvered the seat a bit and tried to add a few colors to the knobs.

Im pretty sure this will be it. Ill add the counsel then fit this nightmare into the fuselage.

Well, the cockpit fit into the fuslage was a NIGHTMARE!! 

I had to thin down everything ! THIN!!! And still a bit of trouble. These czech kits are something else.

 Basically it's in but it still needs some fine touching. This was about 2 1/2 hours of sanding and fitting ! I'm done for the day.

Now you have me wondering if I ever want to tackle the one that I have in my stash.  I have still been looking from time to time for interior shots of a dark shark, but as you found out, there just do not seem to be any.

The Seiran is coming along nicely at this point.  I have the decals on, and need to dullcoat the assemblies and add the final details.  I should be posting some photos soon (providing I can figure out how to download the pictures from my new camera ).

I will be doing a bit more on my project over the weekend. I may build another kit after I finnish this one.
