That is a magnificent build Tony, nice and subtle weathering, (MIg's version was a bit over the top IMHO).

You have inspired me to buy the Diana, ammo set and Masterbox DAK crew, ( in the stash for now though). Will you be using the little Arab guy on a donkey in your build?

You done it again Tony, the finish is amazing as usual. The green gun has really paid off to give the viewer a sense of contrast. So I'll let you get on with the figures and look forward to seeing you get your work of art on a base.

Hey Bill I told Catherine about what you suggested because she does that kinds of stuff. She had some small crochet thread but to my eye it still was a little large.

She also had a spool of Hand Quilting Thread and I think it'll work just fine.

You can see a small cable in that photo that has the elephant on the right fender so I took some copper wire and made one, like you said it adds a little character.

Tony, I have just got my hands on a reel of " Whipping " cord. This is used by people who sail in boats, it is used for wrapping around the ends of rope (sheets) to stop them fraying.

It can be obtained in different sizes from any Chandlers, for 1/35 scale I think it would a No4, very realistic for cables and no fraying...cheers....Kenny

I like the addition of the tow cable Tony, adds a nice character detail that's completely plausible. Can't offer any help on the staining of the camo netting...but I can recommend something better than for an in-scale "rope" tie vs the teabag string you're using. I've found that crochet rope (that's literally what it's called) that is available at any Michael's or similar store is a much better in-scale rope tie-down representation. Might give that a shot...a small spool is only a couple of bucks and will last you a lifetime.

You seem to have some of your best thoughts as you sip on your coffee.  Diana is fabulous looking!  Putting her in a dio with the Pzjager I, they look great together.  The figure set will look real good with those vehicles.  Think your right about the string, just a bit big.  The netting does look good.

I tied the net to the rear cover hoop with tea bag string but the string looks a little large for scale

Picked up a tow cable from an abandoned tank along the road just in case one might be needed.

Tony, what I'm trying to say is, maybe the picture you got did mislead you? Is the picture of the wreck the photo of the SPG you're building, or is it this Luftwaffe tractor they fished out in Poland? If they really tried to save weight, maybe they relocated the muffler to the step, thus saving some kilograms of steel pipe. This gives the possibility of the kit being correct by not having the muffler in the rear. Maybe they just missed the pipe that connects the manifold to the muffler?

I'll tell you from experience, that the (modern) german norm for an air filter for a compressor (admitted, a shop compressor) is a fibre pack, somtimes done as a wet filter (soaked with oil), size of a duct tape roll (we're talking bigger compressors here). The size of our mysterious "pot" points to a machine in the 50 - 150 hp range - that would rather be the engine itself.

And yeah - it's friday again, I already started my weekend - so I wish you all a nice weekend too!

Pawell this picture resolves the question about it being part of the exhaust system.

There's a large air filter canister going to the carb on the engine. They removed almost 900 pounds of extra weight trying to lighten up the design but there are pictures showing that unit on the right step so if it was unnecessary to have, surely it would have been removed.

Maybe it was the air filter for the air compressor???????

Bill I think you're right just what is the norm when it comes to armor?

You really work a lot faster than I do! And without any loss of quality. When I grow up, I want to be retired too! So I wanted to tell you I like the build, painting and finish of your model very much.

But I'm also afraid I have a scary idea, and the worst thing is I'm late to report it... Apout the right hand side step & pot... You know the Germans liked to put the exhaust muffler there (like Sd. Kfz. 251). Now if it was the exhaust muffler, that would explain lack thereof in the rear of the frame... I'm afraid you could now have two of them on your model - can't be sure, but I have a bad feeling about that.

Hope I'm wrong, then again no idea what else it could be. Good luck with your project, have a nice day

That sounds better than it being an air intake . Mayhaps the round object is a bulge in the fender sheet metal to cover the muffler ?

Tony, you are going to love those LifeColor German uniform paint set.  I use 'em all the times.  There is second set out there too.  Again, beautiful work on your Diana.
